  • Excellently played. Wish the video quality was better though. I just discovered this piece, but I don't think I'm at the point to play something like this yet. What type of DP are you using? It sounds wonderful.

  • thanks -- Ravel is such a delight :)

in this vid i used casio PX-310

    happy practising ;)

  • Wow! Thanks. I might be buying the new PX130 or PX330, so this is good to know that the 310 sounds like this. Cool.

  • beautiful, touched my spirit. Thank you

  • That was a nice performance of Ravel´s Pavane, I always love to listen different performances of one piece, Keep up working J. Greetings from Germany

  • Thank you Jessikka! :)

  • It´s my favorite piece! I like your performance, there is a great feeling and true emotion!

  • One of my favorite pieces. People either play it so sonorously I fall asleep or not--you're the latter.

  • Glad to hear my playing didn't send you to sleep...:D It's good if it lifts you up to a dream-realm, though.

  • I hope you are continuing with your piano studies. You have a genuine feeling for music. Your beautiful playing of this piece will inspire others to play the piano.

  • Aww, that's nice! Yes, I'm doing my piano diploma at the moment. But going over to composition next year. Thanks for the encouragement! Peace, J

  • You have the heart of a true musician. You are magic!

    :)

  • Your kind words are always greatly appreciated! Thanks! :)

  • "Enchanting sweetone :)

  • Thank you! :) Ravel is my most favourite composer from the Classical music world, but I love any uplifting kind of music.

  • I am very satisfied with your splendid performance. A lot of people play this music. I almost checked it in YouTube. You are the top name.

  • Hey! Thanks so much! :)

  • こう弾いて欲しいと思うとおりに弾いてくれてとても満足です。この曲はたくさんの人が弾いています。YouTubeはほとんどチェックしました。あなたはトップランクです。すばらしい!!

  • Beautiful, but it is so sad. A Pavane for a Dead Infant. It always tugs at my heart. You played it very well 5*****

    Much love,

    Diane

  • OMG! Thanks Diane! :)

A non-musician friend thought this was a lullaby; it sure sounds like one, doesn't it?

    Love,

    J

  • yes, a lullaby played for a dead baby - how sad is that?

    Love,

    Di

  • If I remember it correctly then Ravel's choice of a name for this piece was somewhat arbitrary. It's a nice title, but to me it doesn't depict death, but rather rebirth! :)

  • Nice interpretation, even in a digital!...I'd like listen you playing a grand piano...

  • Thanks for giving it a listen! I do appreciate your kind comment on it!

    :-)

  • Amazing playing!

  • Glad you enjoyed :)!

  • great rendering of a work Ravel warned of caution in over sentimenal approach. infact you do this justice in giving that modern touch he so wanted and in a way this makes it more beutiful. must here u on a grand.

  • Thanks! :)

How do you tell apart a modern and an over sentimental touch?

I'll try and record this on a grand when I get a chance!

  • not touch. approach. basically if you think from almost clock work accompaniment . with out over rubato. then it unfolds naturally and in a less pulled way. That s what Ravel wanted. so the whole can be viewed not just asan over indulgent melody. you have it done perfectly. and it makes it more sweet. which is ironicc

  • Oh I see. That resonates with how I imagine this piece. It is indeed so sweet and yet so detached and untroubled! Ravel wrote this in his early 20's...pretty good, ah?

  • never give up apart from bad hair days . you have the sensitivity for the piano.

  • A famous composition by Ravel, also I believe exists in an Orchestral version. you've handled it very nicely here! You are getting some nice 'feeling' into your playing. Careful rubato style too. Well done indeed. Best wishes, Jonathan

  • I appreciate your kind comment!

  • Wow, what a wonderful performance, very musical. Hearing you, has made me want to learn this piece!

  • Great! Mission accomplished! LOL.

  • I wept listening to this. It's so refined and musical. Favourited for its inherent and innate beauty. Bless you Janno!

  • Oh god, youtube is messing around here! I wrote a reply to your comment, but it didn't go through...

Well, thank you so much Phillip!!! :) Yay! Finally got into your favourites! :D Feels good to be famous!

  • I've just favourited your wonderful flute sonata as well. I should have done that on first hearing it. You know you are more than a favourite. You are respected and admired! Back to the Pavane - your performance is so poised and beautifully conceived. Ravel would approve! I am very proud of you!

  • You really know how to make my day! Thanks! :)

I'm happy again, because I'm back with my previous teacher and I feel like I'm finally learning again.

  • That's wonderful! I'm glad you're glad!

    :):):)

  • It is truly very musical!!!

Wish we can see you play on a grand piano one day!

  • Thank you so much! *blush* :)

I promise, you will see me playing on a Grand soon!
