There are different degrees of retouching. I think making skin clear of zits is ok, but changing breast size, bone structure, eye size etc. is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND DELIBERATELY DECEPTIVE ON A FAR MORE SERIOUS SCALE. Acne is temporary in most cases. Moles can be removed surgically or with computer retouching--no big deal. Don't these people know the truth comes out eventually? If you saw an older actor on the street, you would see the ruddy complexion, crows feet etc. Why lie?
Photos have been manipulated since way before PCs were invented. Dodging and burning poorly exposed areas for instance. Necessary in many cases for realistic images because cameras can't "see" the brightest and the darkest areas at the same time just like human eyes can't. HOWEVER, CGI is ruining the integrity of the visual arts due to non-disclosure. You can't believe anything you see on TV or in movies anymore. DISCLOSURE SHOULD BE MANDATED BUT CAREFULLY AND FAIRLY.
@dinalives "and this is 2008! imagine what it is like now..."

Why do people go so 'over the top' about Adobe Photoshop. I used to do touchups on modes 12 years ago, and believe me after a while it gets boring. I now use photoshop for pure artwork, it is a very powerful tool in the right hands. Touching up a photo is pretty easy, it just requires some practice with the clone and heal tool.
I only learned that images in magazines where altered when I was 14, 15 years old. But I didn't had any pressure on me to be pretty and perfect, I didn't care about it much.
But WHAT IF I did? What would I do to achieve the body of women and girls in magazines? How far would I go, being a young and easily impressed girl?
That's why I believe retouched images should have a disclaimer. So that so many girls can know before they get into a crazy and dangerous search for an impossible perfection.
wow amazing ! the media and hollywood is all fake and to control your mind in the first p0lace it shouldnt be taken seriously, people need to focus on the more important things in life, like pleasing God and doing the right thing and feeling beautiful inside first. The outside is nothing, just a first impression and a perception. Its truly sad, its all fake so dont worry about it !
@Kingcammel look slike you may have to open up your eyes and do some of your own research cuz it not in the media or the magazines, its in the bible. I hope it wont be too late before you realize what happening around you. check out media,hollywood/entertainment exposed on youtube. @funbylucy Research what? As I said I agree with your point, it’s just that religion irrelevant. I wasn't offended. I’m not here because of god, I am here because my parents who evolved over billions & billions of years all the way from water based single cell life to bi pedal hominids, had sex. Don’t believe in science and prefer religion? abandon it, go the way of pure religion. Live in a hut, forsake every advance given to you by science and die before 30 of tooth rot, the way god intended.
@Hopefor206 Put it in a nicer way. Why should we please 1 being when there's 6.8 billion of us? We could always please each other instead. Sounds like a lot more fun.
great documentary containing some topics involving bodybuilding and photoshop. i hope my comments at least persuades one person to check it out. Used to be on Netflix
"Magazine editors do not believe that they are deceiving their readers because they assume that the readers know that the images have been altered in one way or another". Then what would be the point in altering the images in the first place?! If the readers know that the images are photoshoped, then there is no need to lie to them and say that the person actually looks like that.
I think that people who do have enough sense in their skulls do realize it is Photoshopped, but just can't get the WHAT IF out of their heads. WHAT IF I worked out, WHAT IF I stopped eating as much, would I look like that. This is coming from a 13yr old a little on the chubby side. Sure I'm not happy with it, but I'm not trying to obtain a model-body like most of the girls in my school. Doesn't make me ignorant. Curves are beautiful, don't starve yourself, there is no such thing as perfect :D :D
This doesn't just have an effect on women. Every guy in magazines considered good looking is most always in top physical shape, even photoshopped. Most guys I know, including myself, feel pressured to kill themselves in the gym and take a multitude of mass muscle building supplements. But those perfectly sculpted muscles, like the ones girls worship in the twilight movies, are nearly unattainable for any busy, working man. I know girls are much more sensitive to their appearance but still..
I personally believe it is too late to start to change anything. The Barbie doll started all this body issue stuff. Barbie's physical measurements when scaled up to human size is impossible to achieve.
The vanity levels of some people too, has to be taken into consideration. Look at the plastic surgery boom of late, Botox etc. In my opinion, this is an unstoppable Juggernaut! Sad but true.
I don't think retouching should be banned. If we open up the door and say retouching should be banned, then should we ask the question that all other digital manipulation that has nothing to do with weight and beauty be banned also? We all know that movies are faked and has plenty of digital manipulation and the public is aware of that. I think people know today that retouching is an industry standard and should be aware that photoshop is used .
i hate photoshop as a method of creating an artificial perfection that isn't even there and never will be at all. people get a false idea of what beauty really is and tend to judge things solely on their outer appearances. same goes with poeple judging over other people. nature can also be beautiful. one does not have to redesign what's good anyway. aside from that..there are way more important things in the world we should focus on than making people simply look better...
Perfect was socially constructed... That word in itself is subjective to the individual.. it's all about money at the end of the day...and brainwashing people..
I'm a model and I will tell you 90% of women have cellulite and imperfections and even saggy bottoms. THEY DO NOT LOOK THE WAY THEY DO ON MAGAZINES COMPARED TO REAL LIFE. In other words, most of the women are the furthest thing from perfect.
@asitlies I disagree. The problem is how the brain processes the photo, and the words don't change that. If you hate watching torture porn movies like Saw and Hostile, do you think knowing that it's not real makes it less gross to watch? Does knowing that a gory crime scene on a TV is fake makes it less gruesome?

@MunzerI92 Let's turn it down a tad skid ro and calm down you crazy asshole. I don't give two shits if you llift ripped guys aren't even that hot. And I wouldn't wanna see your butterface anyways. Moving on, I look good and I do think Its important ito stay healthy, but making people think perfection that celebs can't even obtain is wrong. Society needs to stop being so damn fake.
Nobody is perfect. No matter how much people want to be perfect there not. We may not all look the same but we are on the inside . People don't understand that they are beautiful in there own way. I say we stop retouching and start being real ... no one is perfect ... what's the point of getting a photo retouched if we all know it's fake anyway??
@MunzerI92 I bet your a fatass who sits home behind a computer and insults people because it's anonymous. Photoshoping should be at least reduced. It's making woman and even men feel like they need to be perfect. Perfection is not attainable. But beauty is already there in all of us. Whether we're fat or skinny. So go fuck yourself.
@sixsensation23 Actually I'm ripped as fuck. Sometimes I'm late for stuff cause I'll be looking in the mirror for so long. I'm dead serious, I'd send you pics but that be super creepy and you'd probably cream yourself to them. I lift or run 7 days a week and fucking love it and I fucking can't stand fat people who bitch about being fat just cause they don't get off their ass. You're probably the DUFF at every bar scene. Photoshopping should happen more often so fatasses feel like shit.
And bizarrely the lady in the video justifies it by saying she looks much better after computer manipulation. So what is the point in her making this video?
I dont know why everyone is so mentally unaware of how insane they are, but i still prefer real people to computer generated images.
People just stop buying this shit and re-engage with real people in real relationships.
If this makes people mad I don't know where the music industry, movie industry, etc stand. This kind of stuff happens everywhere, people just need to live with it.
Music industry analogy: probably about 90% of pop singers are recorded singing the same thing tens of times, then the best part of each take is used. Then, the singer is edited both in terms of timing and pitch, and then usually the volume of each word/syllable is changed. I have more examples, but I don't have enough characters.
young girls open your eyes, now you can be more comfortable with your body, all these bitches in hollywood are fake, celebrities are normal people just like us, focus on nature, healing, wisdom and good character so you can have success in your desting path☼
why the f is this so important. There are a thousand more important things than sunspots and anyone who would waste even a minute even thinking about that is a retard, I mean a real retard as in severely emotionally and psychologically underdeveloped and at best an annoyance to humanity. At worst, such a person may make many others who are simple minded enouth to be succeptible, as sick as they are. Where all going to die one day and each of these bodies will rot. Get that through your head.
It is STRICTLY OPINION OF MINE that just like on he pack of cigarettes must be written warning of the possible health hazard and just like on every bottle of every over the counter and prescription medicine is written warning of the possible dependency or serious health risk …. Same way should be labeled retouched images…stating….”this image has been digitally retouched” or something like that…period…
This girl is also advertising her company.

retouching should not be banned. Try harder to be hott. Sorry you're fat.
MunzerI92 1 month ago
@MunzerI92 I bet your a fatass who sits home behind a computer and insults people because it's anonymous. Photoshoping should be at least reduced. It's making woman and even men feel like they need to be perfect. Perfection is not attainable. But beauty is already there in all of us. Whether we're fat or skinny. So go fuck yourself.
sixsensation23 1 month ago
@sixsensation23 Actually I'm ripped as fuck. Sometimes I'm late for stuff cause I'll be looking in the mirror for so long. I'm dead serious, I'd send you pics but that be super creepy and you'd probably cream yourself to them. I lift or run 7 days a week and fucking love it and I fucking can't stand fat people who bitch about being fat just cause they don't get off their ass. You're probably the DUFF at every bar scene. Photoshopping should happen more often so fatasses feel like shit.

Proof that society is insane.

Banging body, average face.
Also there's no need to retouch anything if the photographer is doing a great job and the model is hot enough.

why the f is this so important.
