It's the 'theme song' to the movie 'the Battle of Britain', it's very much a British march. Besides, the guards play many German and Russian marches as well if you have problems with that.
@emptyangel dont have any problems with that. especially on the day (today) when we are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the victory over the luftwaffe in the battle of britain.
@emptyangel The point is that this march is neither - it's called Scarlet and Gold. And, Scarlet and Gold is not the theme tune from the film Battle of Britain.
Yeah brilliant, I guess I shouldn't be correcting people who think the Army Air Corps are the Irish Guards and that the police have cameras hidden in their custodian helmets.
@MrJimmyboy1972 its a military custom that we take the music of those we defeat, as we take their colours and insignia and such, and furthermore most fairly modern composers are mainly european.
@TheDrummerboi94 tell me about it, i was only in the british army for fifteen years, man and boy. aye, and i was a boy drummer with the 15th Battallion (Scottish) The Parachute Regiment, after that i served with the Royal Signals and the the Military Police. and also, most fairly modern composers of military music are the product of defeated european nations. britain has adopted some of these works.
try fo find some film of drum major Simon Ward . Coldstream guards..snr. drum major H.D back in the late 8o/s...that man was style and smartness..a master of his trade...marty
your right!...steven Ward...i always admired that mans work......he marched with a ramrod down his back....he used to roll the mace nice and tight into the chest... R & Rs all the way....did you serve at that time?..i always wondered what he did after he left the army.....regards.m@rty
Might be a good idea to go back to the tripod, laddie, since the shakeys have been evident in brecent efforts. Your early work was rock solid and it would be nice to see that return.
If the tripod is too much you might gain stability by use of a monopod.
I've been a fan of yours since the beginning and will remain so, regardless.
Thank you Ken and Gloria.

@emptyangel Are you sure?! That theme tune was Aces High.

@2050qwerty
Both 'Aces High' and the 'Luftwaffe March' are the same march. :)

@2050qwerty
Yes I already knew that, tell that to jonelilinda not me.
I was explaining to MrJimmyboy1972 that the Luftwaffe march is also known as Aces High and is a British march.
Never said the first march was it.

@emptyangel I guess that 's the risk you run when you're a bit of a busy body.

Different Arm Signal there whilst turning a corner from the Drum Major. Is there any particular reason for this.

What are you talking about?
It's the usual gesture, different drum majors have their own styles of doing it.
I personally prefer that one Grenadier Guards drum major, he does it very extravagantly.

If you read the video description, it would seem that he did not plan to record anything of this sort.
I assume he had his camera handy when he went to the Garter Procession, this footage being a spur of the moment kind of thing.
