Olberman on Palin: "Stop politicizing 9/11" LOL! What a joke Olberman is, as this droning BS where he has more hatred for Bush than for the Taliban, yammers on about the Twilight Zone, and claims it's a lot of people's fault but somehow only mentions Bush's name. H.J. Resolution 24 is a bill currently going through Congress and the Senate which is trying to Amend the 22nd Ammendment which states that a person can only serve 2 consecutive presidential terms. Bush wants to stay in office past his 2nd term. Anyone remember the Star Wars saga? Episodes I-VI? Similar situation just on a planetary scale.
OMG, I did not know that about Bush wanting to stay in office. They tried to do that with Reagan, if you are old enough to remember. That was one wise thing that FDR did. I suppose he forsaw the future of the U.S. I will write my senators and rep. to veto the bill.
i mean i am just an average joe. but we have been separated as a people for some time. made to run around like ants and lose focus on what matters and put focus on things superficial and even absurd. more concern over whats in their new ipod then over where our country is going. pressed from birth, you'd be surprised how many people disregard, dismiss, and descend upon a new age. i live across a moat of ignorance. dont give me a fixed deck and wonder why i cant win the game. . .
The best part of George W. Bush ran down the crack of his mamma's ass and ended up as a brown stain on the mattress. What a complete waste of skin this douche-bag is. See you in HELL George!
As a Marine Corps veteran I am outraged over this administrations conduct in the war on terror. They have made us less safe from terrorism and use lies and fear to keep people voting Republican. I was with him in the invasion of Afghanistan, but when we went into Iraq he diverted from the true war on terror. Now Islamic Extremism is spreading around the world faster than it can be eradicated. Good job George, good job!
Keith is great. He so eloquently states what many Americans feel. He is a great American and Patriot. Patriotism is more than following leaders blindly. It is questioning their policies and actions when one disagrees. This administration tries to label those who disagree with them as unpatriotic or traitors. The real traitors are those who unquestioningly drink the kool-aid of these neocons and their sycophantic shills.
all i can say after seeing this is "amen"... let the truth reign...i wish they would how this in every high school, university, and public forum in the world..
I lost a niece, a cousin, and a childhood friend on 9/11 and on top of that the recent health problems from breathing the air that day, and I feel the same as Keith, betrayed by the administration.
When will this govt. end the milking of the fear related to the events that occurred on 9-1-1? I have no fear of the "terrorists" that are purportedly lurking around each corner as we are so endlessly told. Ridiculous.
The true terror lies within the inability of those in power here in the US to truly listen & SERVE it's citizens, but instead to keep us all in a state of constant fear, and for what purpose?
Control of a capitalistic democracy = control of all the
When will you wake up and realize that there's more to life than your little hole in the ground you call "life"? That's right. You won't. But bray your ignorance on youtube and you're the man! Learn to speak Arabic. You're going to need it.
HELP PREVENT DOMESTIC TYRANNY Call your Senators now! Tell them "NO" on BILL 2453. The Cheney-Specter Bill (S. 2453) will legalize warrantless domestic spying by the Executive Branch. The Bill will also permanently legalize warrantless eavesdropping of all communications As well as legalizing the data mining and the profiling of U.S. citizens. In effect, the legal concept of "Probable Cause" will be eliminated from the Constitution. WWW.BORDC.ORG
Most reporters try to talk as though they know more about things than the average American, which, of course, they don't. This commentary is sincere. It comes from the heart, and so goes to the heart. I know I join him in telling Bush to get off his ass and start leading the country in healing.
I agree with the first and the third of those four sentences.
Heart is easy; head is more difficult. At least for Mr Olbermann:
Take time to walk into a law office/courthouse/university law department and ask a lawyer to explain to you how practicable the following would be:
I: The Federal Government --exercising right of eminent domain-- seizing the 16 acres of private property, in order to expedite construction of a monument in accordance with Mr Olbermann's specifications.
Keith is the only one out there in the MSM who's willing to speak the truth. CONservatives call is "liberal bias," but to quote a certain funny man from Comedy Central, reality has a well known liberal bias.
I love the video of the "Twilight Zone" because it's so true. If anything goes wrong we need to find someone to blame. If shit happens it's not my fault but someone else and we need to find them and kill them.
The real point is that people can be brainwashed into fear. They fear the lights and turn on their own people, their friends and neighbors. Our nation must learn a lesson from this episode.
You can find it on google video. I'd post a link, but it won't let me. Olbermann is good at pointing fingers, and that's good, fingers should be pointed... unfortunatly, he's chosen to point them at the wrong people in order to press an agenda... it's too bad he can't posess more conviction and be genuine... he might be respectable otherwise.
Watch Penn and Teller's "Bullshit" episode on ground zero, it more thoroughly explains what's going on there, and contains interviews and and actual references.
Fearless? What reason would anyone have to be afraid? It's not like the Dark Brotherhood is going to slit his throat in his sleep... Seriously, we're guarunteed the right to free speech, and you treat him like a hero! This guy hasn't stated anything new. Fact is, everyone was already thinking it.
See, whenever you voice an opinion thats contrary to the power in charge, you are a lefty loon or disrepectful. Thanks so much for proving one of the points.
The day Mr Olbermann acquires the same coherence of argument and conciseness which Cokie Roberts, George Will and Sam Donaldson effortlessly display is the day he earns the respect of (at least some of) those who disagree with his conclusions.
Eloquence and passion do not amount to much when one simply rambles on, jumping from one point to another, in the same monologue. The only people you end up "convincing" are those who already agree with you (see the comments above for proof).
I like how you hold up the biggest fluff peddlers in the television news business as paragons of real journalism. What, Katie Couric didn't make the cut? No Stone Philips either? It's sad that you think television prompter readers are telling you anything close to the real story.
The mainstream media in America does not even report on the genocide in Darfur, rather following Angelina's baby and Michael Jackson's trial. Analysis and objectivity have been replaced by entertainment, fear and partisanship. Journalists should not be silent towards any leader no matter what political party the leader may belong to. Thank you Keith for speaking your mind as a great journalist who respects free speech and disagrees with those in power should do.
> Journalists should not be silent towards any leader no matter what political party the leader may belong to.
Indeed.
And judging from all the major broadsheets as well as the major TV networks, they aren't--one needs a counter to keep track of all the exposé and critiques I come across everyday.
Which newspapers have you actually subscriptions to . . .
Regardless, it doesn't fall under Bush's direct jusrisdiction, and it shouldn't. "take back the memorial" is the group that should at least coordinate the process, even if they don't conduct the designing themselves.
Not to mention that they've already blown through numerous faulty designs because of poor coordination with the highway department. The latest design is underground museums under the "footprints" and a reflecting pool covering them... I say leave the footprints and rebuild the towers exactly as they were. This is America, and we're still doing things as we did before. It's the ultimate in "fuck you"s.
Since the LMDC is a goverment funded body they have a responsibility to the public to get things done. New York's Attorney General, Elliot Spitzer even classified the LMDC as a failure in its capacity as an agent for rebuilding lower Manhattan.
Any plans that do get passed by the PANYNJ often then get rejected by Lower Manhattan Development Corporation. If I recall the current debate is between the WTC Towers Memorial, Memory Foundations as well as a few other alternatives which are having problems getting pushed through the works.
Although the administration may not own the site, I suspect they are more than capable of bringing down enough political leverage on the ownership to get something done with the property itself. Part of the problem is with the clashing of government bodies leadint to indecision. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey requires the replacement of all the commercial space and public streets, limiting other possible land-use designs.
Bush doesn't administrate the reconstruction of the site... it's owned by a private owner who leased the land... Larry Silverstein. Then governor George Pataki took over the project in cooperation with the LMDC. Get the facts right, and maybe at least try to cite some FALSE evidence Mr. Olbermann... Asshole.
Do not push gellman, and please do not take him as a representative of the conservative viewpoint. He attacks the person presenting the argument rather than the argument itself. Although I do not always agree with Olbermann's stance on subjects I feel using Ground Zero's image was appropriate based on the context.
Thankfully, no one (at least not me) really thinks that gellman represents the true conservative thought process. I believe that true liberals and true conservatives are smarter than a lot of the pure bashings of simple idiots who only listen to one viewpoint and then cite it as fact. I'm a liberal, but agree with you deamonkharn.
I agree with Olbermann that the grounds are going to waste. It is tragic that this has continued to be true for 5 years. The administration should replace the rotted grounds with a grander defiant structure, or at very least a proud memorial to honour those lost. It is shameful they have been left to rot for so long.
Yes, are you speaking about the huge memorial in Washington, DC dedicated on May 29, 2004. Then, of course, there was the Korean War memorial that most people don't know exists which was dedicated 7/27/95. Bush will be buried as an honorable, trustworthy president before the lamented memorial for Gulf War II is erected and the truth comes out that his administration planned the implosion of WTC asa a pretext for invading Iraq.
so you're another leftist conspiracy theorist who believes the Bush administration planned 9/11? another nutty liberal who sees the terrorists as the good guys and sees the Bush administration as the bad guy...truely treasonous!
Well, I am calling Bush what he is: a liar, fulfulling the agenda of the PNAC. This whole pretext of getting into a soft Iraq was so that the military will have a base to launch an attack on Iran and Syria. O, you didn't know about the plan to attack Iran? PNAC plans.
so now you're siding with Iran and Syria who support terrorism? you make it so clear you suppport terrorism. You're a treasonous liberal! Bush lied about nothing. Your rhetoric is ignorant and serves no purpose!
YOu are a LIAR. Bush lies everytime he opens he mouth. He doesn't know what the truth is. He is a puppet of Cheney and the neocons, Wolfowitz, Kristol, Rumsfeld and the signers of the PNAC. Don't worry the world will be ended by 2040. There is no excuse for the BUSH CHENEY killing the people in the WTC on 9-11.
Don't tell me that that I am supporting terrorism. You are supporting terrorism by not condemning Bush Cheney Rice Rumsfeld Wolfowiz Kristol for there BOLDFACE lies about Iraq. Bush Cheney et al blewup the WTC. They are the terrorists. They want to take over the world with Gold OIL and Dominance. G.O.D. John Dean, as his book suggests, "This is FAR WORSE than WATERGATE." Stick with degenerates and you are going to burn in hell with them.
President Bush and Cheney blew up the WTC LOL...you're a liberal nut...yeah thats President Bush...i mean u always hear him talk about how he wants to take over the world..what you are is a far left liberal treasonous, terrorist supporting airhead! No one takes the far left seriously. You're a total embarrassment!
You airhead lemmings are a cancer on the face of democracy and the Constitution that once supported it. Enjoy the hell you have helped create for this once-great nation...
Yeah, how about his inane position that Bush is somehow responsible for the lack of a memorial or new building. What kind of crappola is Olby shoveling to you lefty-loons anyway? You idiots just eat up anything as long as it bashes Bush.
Oh and gottta love they way he exploited his dead friends just to further his petty attacks on President Bush. Talk about having no shame. How dare you Mr. Olbermann!
Gellman, I'm not going to censor your comments as much as I disagree with them. I feel people need to see your stupidity. But if you do something like wish Keith dead, I will delete that.
Compassionate conservatism personified... Though you _do_ admit there was a lot of toxic dust--which is a start. Too bad all the compassionate conservatives rushed workers into the area telling them there was no threat.
Yes Keith was speaking the truth. That's why the fascists have their panties in a wad. It's like garlic to vampires.
rook, you are too hard on the bush adminisration. they just agreed to put up $75 million to help our sick heroes and first responders to 9/11. i thought it mighty big of them to put less than we spend in a 1/2 day in iraq.
Speaking of fascists, how about Clinton and his thugs trying to pull a mini-series off ABC? Geez, what happened to that freedom of speech stuff all the lefties scream about? Only if it's the liberal view right?
Freedom of speech is me saying you are an asshole. My opinion. Libel is me saying You had sex with your mother on the courthouse steps (if you in fact didn't). You see, we have a problem with lies. Fascists have a problem with truth. It's pretty simple.
If you (meaning liberals) "have a problem with lies" then you wouldn't even watch Olbermann. Yes, it is pretty simple. Liberals are hypocritical assholes and the real fascists.
Ummm yea they tried to pull it off because it was all bullshit. I mean even the Bush admistration said it was bullshit. It was made to produce emotion not to show truth which is what they should have done.
No one tried to pull the mini-series. The attempt was to get ABC to correct the fiction, and actually present FACT to the nation about the true "path to 9/11." At least Clinton has owned up to his failures in not killing bin Laden. Bush only likes to blame others.... How do people still trust him?
Err . . . many have made the same argument way before Mr Olbermann did -- many with coherent arguments presented concisely, thus intelligently, thus with credibility.
Read more widely. There are limits to hearing only what one already agrees with.
Truth eh? That's what you think Keith was spewing? Sounded like another I-love-to-hear-myself-talk, narcissistic rant to me.
Btw, did you catch his faux-anger over the President using ground zero for photo ops while he was doing the exact same thing? What a lame, hypocritical piece of shit Olbermann is.
Boy, that's a mature response, saying someone couldn't have friends. Trivializing the loss of life on 9/11 in an attempt to sound "cool" only makes you sound like an immature fool who cannot post rational thoughts gellman. I feel sorry for you.
Well, if you like Olbermann you should be all set with trivializing 9/11--As he did by standing there at ground zero and giving his stupid, self-righteous rant.
Fuck him and fuck all you morons who watch that douchebag. I wish libs would all move to Europe.
If you define "truth" as "agreeing-with-you" and "anti-Bush"/"anti-Republican", then Gellman above is right.
Numerous intelligent people --presenting coherent arguments concisely, passionately and convincingly, whichever side each takes-- are in broadcast and print media. Evidently, you simply don't read widely enough.
Proof of the limits of preferring to hear out and hear only what one already agrees with. (see definition of "truth" above)
I miss Keith Olbermann, he spoke the truth.

Similar situation just on a planetary scale.
wwwcoginkcom 5 years ago
OMG, I did not know that about Bush wanting to stay in office. They tried to do that with Reagan, if you are old enough to remember. That was one wise thing that FDR did. I suppose he forsaw the future of the U.S. I will write my senators and rep. to veto the bill.

Good job George, good job!
jarhead66 5 years ago
Keith is great. He so eloquently states what many Americans feel. He is a great American and Patriot. Patriotism is more than following leaders blindly. It is questioning their policies and actions when one disagrees. This administration tries to label those who disagree with them as unpatriotic or traitors. The real traitors are those who unquestioningly drink the kool-aid of these neocons and their sycophantic shills.

Control of a capitalistic democracy = control of all the
bling.

Most reporters try to talk as though they know more about things than the average American, which, of course, they don't. This commentary is sincere. It comes from the heart, and so goes to the heart. I know I join him in telling Bush to get off his ass and start leading the country in healing.
littlerich 5 years ago
I agree with the first and the third of those four sentences.
Heart is easy; head is more difficult. At least for Mr Olbermann:
Take time to walk into a law office/courthouse/university law department and ask a lawyer to explain to you how practicable the following would be:
I: The Federal Government --exercising right of eminent domain-- seizing the 16 acres of private property, in order to expedite construction of a monument in accordance with Mr Olbermann's specifications.
. . .
hkl 5 years ago
Failing that
II: The White House exerting pressure on the site lease holders to do its bidding.
Have the lawyer/judge/professor explain how Congress, the Courts, the electorate and the press of all colors are likely to react.
Do please let us know what the lawyer/judge/professor explains to you.
Never mind how it makes Mr Olbermann's indignation and implied demand appear.
hkl 5 years ago
PS: I think I concur with the fourth sentence as well.
Mr Bush ought to propose to leaders of the other side that they get together several times a week, even for just banter over breakfast, tea or dinner.
Partisan bickering and legilative stalemate, after all, is like tango: it takes two.
And if ever the gesture is spurned--let's hope not--then we'll know which side refused to dance.
Have a pleasant week ahead, LR.

The real point is that people can be brainwashed into fear. They fear the lights and turn on their own people, their friends and neighbors. Our nation must learn a lesson from this episode.
KDANTEATER 5 years ago
Umm, no, I meant their GROUND ZERO episode, as I clearly stated above... Search "Penn and Teller Ground" on google video.
SieranHachnette 5 years ago
You can find it on google video. I'd post a link, but it won't let me. Olbermann is good at pointing fingers, and that's good, fingers should be pointed... unfortunatly, he's chosen to point them at the wrong people in order to press an agenda... it's too bad he can't posess more conviction and be genuine... he might be respectable otherwise.
SieranHachnette 5 years ago
Watch Penn and Teller's "Bullshit" episode on ground zero, it more thoroughly explains what's going on there, and contains interviews and and actual references.

You mean their 911 conspiracy theory episode? It has nothing to do with this. They have nothing in common.

The only people you end up "convincing" are those who already agree with you (see the comments above for proof).
hkl 5 years ago

KDANTEATER 5 years ago
> Journalists should not be silent towards any leader no matter what political party the leader may belong to.

The grounds where the Gettysburg memorial was owned by private land. So please cut with the privately owned bullshit!
Immortalone1 5 years ago
It's privately owned, it's privately owned, and it's privately owned!!
Got it jackass?
gellman 5 years ago
Wrong, Jackass. The WTC site is owned by the Port Authority of the State of New Jersey. It's privately LEASED, publicly OWNED.
Halifaxion 5 years ago
Regardless, it doesn't fall under Bush's direct jusrisdiction, and it shouldn't. "take back the memorial" is the group that should at least coordinate the process, even if they don't conduct the designing themselves.
SieranHachnette 5 years ago
Not to mention that they've already blown through numerous faulty designs because of poor coordination with the highway department. The latest design is underground museums under the "footprints" and a reflecting pool covering them... I say leave the footprints and rebuild the towers exactly as they were. This is America, and we're still doing things as we did before. It's the ultimate in "fuck you"s.
SieranHachnette 5 years ago
Since the LMDC is a goverment funded body they have a responsibility to the public to get things done. New York's Attorney General, Elliot Spitzer even classified the LMDC as a failure in its capacity as an agent for rebuilding lower Manhattan.
deamonkharn 5 years ago
Any plans that do get passed by the PANYNJ often then get rejected by Lower Manhattan Development Corporation. If I recall the current debate is between the WTC Towers Memorial, Memory Foundations as well as a few other alternatives which are having problems getting pushed through the works.
deamonkharn 5 years ago
Although the administration may not own the site, I suspect they are more than capable of bringing down enough political leverage on the ownership to get something done with the property itself. Part of the problem is with the clashing of government bodies leadint to indecision. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey requires the replacement of all the commercial space and public streets, limiting other possible land-use designs.
deamonkharn 5 years ago
Bush doesn't administrate the reconstruction of the site... it's owned by a private owner who leased the land... Larry Silverstein. Then governor George Pataki took over the project in cooperation with the LMDC. Get the facts right, and maybe at least try to cite some FALSE evidence Mr. Olbermann... Asshole.
With them the problem lies.
SieranHachnette 5 years ago
I'm glad Olbermann spoke the truth, those cowards over
at "Faux News" are to hungry for ratings to do so.
kody352 5 years ago
Do not push gellman, and please do not take him as a representative of the conservative viewpoint. He attacks the person presenting the argument rather than the argument itself. Although I do not always agree with Olbermann's stance on subjects I feel using Ground Zero's image was appropriate based on the context.
deamonkharn 5 years ago
Thankfully, no one (at least not me) really thinks that gellman represents the true conservative thought process. I believe that true liberals and true conservatives are smarter than a lot of the pure bashings of simple idiots who only listen to one viewpoint and then cite it as fact. I'm a liberal, but agree with you deamonkharn.
insanechicken 5 years ago
I agree with Olbermann that the grounds are going to waste. It is tragic that this has continued to be true for 5 years. The administration should replace the rotted grounds with a grander defiant structure, or at very least a proud memorial to honour those lost. It is shameful they have been left to rot for so long.
deamonkharn 5 years ago
Pearl Harbor occured on Dec. 7,1941. The U.S.S. Arizona memorial was not completed until 1962.
88wildcat 5 years ago
True, but there were countless other World War II memorials constructed prior to that time.
deamonkharn 5 years ago
Yes, are you speaking about the huge memorial in Washington, DC dedicated on May 29, 2004. Then, of course, there was the Korean War memorial that most people don't know exists which was dedicated 7/27/95. Bush will be buried as an honorable, trustworthy president before the lamented memorial for Gulf War II is erected and the truth comes out that his administration planned the implosion of WTC asa a pretext for invading Iraq.
linda254 5 years ago
so you're another leftist conspiracy theorist who believes the Bush administration planned 9/11? another nutty liberal who sees the terrorists as the good guys and sees the Bush administration as the bad guy...truely treasonous!
aces3123 5 years ago
Well, I am calling Bush what he is: a liar, fulfulling the agenda of the PNAC. This whole pretext of getting into a soft Iraq was so that the military will have a base to launch an attack on Iran and Syria. O, you didn't know about the plan to attack Iran? PNAC plans.
linda254 5 years ago
so now you're siding with Iran and Syria who support terrorism? you make it so clear you suppport terrorism. You're a treasonous liberal! Bush lied about nothing. Your rhetoric is ignorant and serves no purpose!
aces3123 5 years ago

G.O.D. John Dean, as his book suggests, "This is FAR WORSE than WATERGATE." Freedom of speech is me saying you are an asshole. My opinion. Libel is me saying You had sex with your mother on the courthouse steps (if you in fact didn't). You see, we have a problem with lies. Fascists have a problem with truth. It's pretty simple.
Rooktoven 5 years ago
If you (meaning liberals) "have a problem with lies" then you wouldn't even watch Olbermann. Yes, it is pretty simple. Liberals are hypocritical assholes and the real fascists.
Simple indeed.
gellman 5 years ago
Ummm yea they tried to pull it off because it was all bullshit. I mean even the Bush admistration said it was bullshit. It was made to produce emotion not to show truth which is what they should have done.
blackbird107 5 years ago
No one tried to pull the mini-series. The attempt was to get ABC to correct the fiction, and actually present FACT to the nation about the true "path to 9/11." At least Clinton has owned up to his failures in not killing bin Laden. Bush only likes to blame others.... How do people still trust him?
insanechicken 5 years ago

gellman 5 years ago
Boy, that's a mature response, saying someone couldn't have friends. Trivializing the loss of life on 9/11 in an attempt to sound "cool" only makes you sound like an immature fool who cannot post rational thoughts gellman. I feel sorry for you.
