@dayaneliinda1 Reeve encarnou o personagem de forma que merecia um Oscar. Não existe outro Superman. Reeve NASCEU para ser Superman. Tudo naquele filme deu certo, juntando tudo graças ao talento de Donner (infelizmente ele foi despedido de forma maluca pelos produtores depois). Richard Lester só conseguiu pegar um filme bom nas mãos porque Donner já tinha filmado 70% dele, mas cagou em cima no Superman III.

I have nothing against Routh. I thought he played the part well, and I think they should try him again. However, I do feel bad for him. He played a role that was literally MADE by Christopher Reeve. Reeve didn't play Superman. He WAS Superman! It would be extremely hard to try to outdo him, and it would be a mistake to try to be like him. Hats off to you, Brandon. You did a good job. Fight for the role. You desearve it.

I totally agree with you about Nolan & his brother doing this movie or movies.. But we do need a Total overhaul of the Character & the entire superman universe.. We need a confident Clark Kent, the Lex Luthor that wants to rule the world! Brainiac who wants to turn Earth into a New Krypton thus wanting to kill all humans.. Not to be skeptical, but should a reboot be done? What ideas are there for a reboot, because I've seen enough takes on Clark/Kal-El's origins that it's just too cliched. If you're gonna do a reboot, something different has to be done. And in terms of the character's origins, it's been done to death too much. And if it is done, should Chris Nolan do it? I mean, Clark and Bruce are two different people. IMO Nolan should just start on doing JLA and forget about rebooting Superman.

Well, I feel that having someone with presence next to Superman isn't exactly the right direction for Lex. The whole idea of Luthor is that he has no powers, and is weak, but will always be smarter than Superman. Spacey and Hackman were great in the sense that even without a massive build, they presented a sense of power from wit alone.

@superheromovies I don't think you can make something better just by changing the race of a character. If the story is flawed or the direction poor then it'll suck regardless. Look at Sam Jackson in the star wars prequels. Mace Windu sucked, and was a 2D character at best. It's hard to believe that it's the same actor who was in Die Hard 3. If someone said let's jazz up Training Day and put a white guy in place of Denzel Washington then people would freak out. (and that would be lame)

Kal-El is the body and heritage that allows him to stand up for what he believes in, Clark Kent is the moral centre that cares for people and want's to not just stop bad guys but to inspire people to strive and Superman is the resolution of those aspects as well as it's public face and symbol.
@KelleyLi As you can probably tell I've given this too much thought, what with being a massive nerd. I liked what Routh did but the script was too busy IMO. I'm looking forward to what Nolan will do since he has acknowledged that Superman is a totally different thing from Batman and needs a totally different approach. While I could read/watch stories of Superman battling Lex all day I would quite like to see them push him physically more and give him an enemy like Brainiac, Metallo or Darkseid.

you kidding chris reeve by a mile!!! You see he gave life to clark kent/ superman.Brandon looks the part but he is stiff could manage the part but chris reeve really made clark funny, awkward and flawed but superman confident ,righteous, never wavered to his duty.He made 2 separate characters in 1 person that was brilliant, brandon will never measure to what mr reeve did so I don't think it would be appropriate to compare him to chris

I totally agree with you about Nolan & his brother doing this movie or movies.. But we do need a Total overhaul of the Character & the entire superman universe.. We need a confident Clark Kent, the Lex Luthor that wants to rule the world! Brainiac who wants to turn Earth into a New Krypton thus wanting to kill all humans.. @superheromovies first off a confident clark kent is fucking stupid cos for one the whole secret identity thing is hard enough to believe as it is, making clark and superman basically the same person would just be taking the cake and number two the bumbling clark kent adds more depth and entertainment to the character. and luthor doesnt even want to rule the world, he wants to save it, he believes superman to eb the villain.

Not to be skeptical, but should a reboot be done? What ideas are there for a reboot, because I've seen enough takes on Clark/Kal-El's origins that it's just too cliched. If you're gonna do a reboot, something different has to be done. And in terms of the character's origins, it's been done to death too much. And if it is done, should Chris Nolan do it? I mean, Clark and Bruce are two different people. IMO Nolan should just start on doing JLA and forget about rebooting Superman.

Well, I feel that having someone with presence next to Superman isn't exactly the right direction for Lex. The whole idea of Luthor is that he has no powers, and is weak, but will always be smarter than Superman. Spacey and Hackman were great in the sense that even without a massive build, they presented a sense of power from wit alone.

@superheromovies I don't think you can make something better just by changing the race of a character. If the story is flawed or the direction poor then it'll suck regardless. Look at Sam Jackson in the star wars prequels. Mace Windu sucked, and was a 2D character at best. It's hard to believe that it's the same actor who was in Die Hard 3. If someone said let's jazz up Training Day and put a white guy in place of Denzel Washington then people would freak out. (and that would be lame)

@toleodor i'm black and i agree with that. besides. i cant even imagine lex as a black guy. i liked the superman with brandon routh.. it fits with richard donners vision of superman I and II with chris reeve... and sometimes if its not broke why fix it.. superman will be hard to fill in because chris reeve did so well in this series that whether anyone agrees or not, he owns this character. i love how he made clark and superman two different characters even though they were the same person.

Kal-El is the body and heritage that allows him to stand up for what he believes in, Clark Kent is the moral centre that cares for people and want's to not just stop bad guys but to inspire people to strive and Superman is the resolution of those aspects as well as it's public face and symbol.

@KelleyLi As you can probably tell I've given this too much thought, what with being a massive nerd. I liked what Routh did but the script was too busy IMO. I'm looking forward to what Nolan will do since he has acknowledged that Superman is a totally different thing from Batman and needs a totally different approach. While I could read/watch stories of Superman battling Lex all day I would quite like to see them push him physically more and give him an enemy like Brainiac, Metallo or Darkseid.
