@WomenOppinion "Change will not come if we wait for some other person, some other time. We are the ones we have been waiting for. We are the change we seek." ~ Pres. Barack Obama. This one single statement says it all. It's really not about the President as much as it is about us, right? After all, it's our democratic society which voted him into office. The same society that voted George W. Bush into office, twice. We expect one single man to have this huge impact on our individual lives...
@mfalklefay But, the truth is that as individuals, we must be the change we seek just as Barack said. One of my good friends, a conservative, said this of Presidents, "Being the President is like standing in the middle of the great river and trying to change the flow." Everyone expects you to be able to do it, even the President wants to believe he can do it, but the truth is that no one person can do what is expected of any president.
@mfalklefay 9/11, two wars, a housing bubble, financial deregulation and speculation, greed, and a systemic failure of our economy to get us here, which is why people voted for Obama in the first place, right? He didn't make this mess anymore that you did. Yet somehow he'll take all the blame if it isn't fixed as fast as we'd like. That's the ugly truth though, and every president has to accept that fact. November 2012 will very interesting.
16. I remember being sixteen. Tell you what, I'll make a deal with you- I'll believe in you if you can believe in yourself. You have the world ahead of you, and I believe in you.
I have to confess I am slightly disturbed by it. I suppose, perhaps subliminally, I could see it coming. Mostly, honestly, I tried to find images which represented the song first. I threw in the political images of Obama because I saw back in May of this year that he had a message which resonated with hope. I am so relieved we have this chance now, but nervous as well. There is much to be done.
Yes, much to be done indeed. So much of this world moves in cyclical order, you wonder if these things can ever be corrected...but that is the voice of hopelessness. And I do not want to seem hopeless in humanity, I do not want to be. But at 16, I already am.
im in england and i love your video and i think the images go so well with the song and the political part fits so well with the words of the song its your few and its a free country peace to you and yours bobbness
Great song, but I could really do without the political stuff interjected in the video. It ruins it for me. I am not an Obama supporter but I love Ray Lamontagne.
It was a tough decision for me to stick that stuff in there. Ultimately I did simply because Ray specifically mentions politicians in his video and seems to advocate for the poor and the have-not's. But I have to concede that I love the song and Ray LaMontagne too, and if I saw a similiar video interjected with subtle pro-McCain crap, it would ruin it for me as well.

Can you truly believe in yourself if you absolutely cannot believe in human beings? Besides that, sure. It's a deal.
