  • I have a Sega Saturn and it plays bootleg games.

  • My first console. And it still works perfectly!

  • When he said ..."Angry..." I seriously thought he was going to say AVGN.

  • I'm sooooooo buying a saturn

  • @19Vexthehedgehog91 when I was a kid I had one, NiGHTS was so dope!

  • @wildbird5150 What was your favourite game?

  • @19Vexthehedgehog91 there were a lot of good titles. if you are planning to buy this one then you should check the following games: NiGHTS was just epic as soon as you figure out the controls, Clockwork Knight (plus the sequel) was very good, Castlevania was hard to beat but very entertaining, if you like fighting games then SNK titles would do the job and Street Fighter Alpha 3 was very awesome too, Panzer Dragoon (plus the sequels) was epic and there were a few good japanese RPGs.

  • @wildbird5150 Thanks for the suggestion in games, i've been having trouble deciding on what games I should get.

  • sega did a great job of diluting their sega genesis market didn't they? after all my friends owned a sega genesis they never went back to sega and went to playstation instead. nice job sega!

  • When the Saturn released they had already gained a bit of a reputation as a company that had released quite a few lame duck consoles and being great at 2D games was not a good selling point right at the time when 3D games were coming in! when compared to the PS1 it already looked a bit dated and the games very quickly dried up! I still own the last ever copy of the Sega Saturn magazine!

  • Moment of silence for megaupload.I will miss that site

  • Fuck you, Nintendo fanboy

  • I once saw a Sega Saturn at a second-hand shop.....

    ....Shit.

  • as much as preferred Nintendo to Sega, i would love to see them make another system, they're a great company with a lot of nostaligia value to me

  • Nintendo should make a new Sega console ... ... yeah. They have money for that!

  • @MNooze or Sega should make a new Sega console...

  • @bobopatchigglerrulez they'd have to go for broke if they did...and in this world...that's the only way to go.

  • Just got one after MANY years for only $39.99 and its like brand new, I made a video about it on my channel thing, I love this thing, going to be getting games for it tomorrow!

  • The generation the Saturn belongs to is when I really first remembered TV commercials for game consoles, because I was like 6 or 7 at the time. But what I remember were the Playstation and N64 commercials. Never did I see a Saturn commercial. Why is that?

  • Hell yeah! SEGA!

  • I just bought one today, in friday 13... It's definetely the best day in this year =)

  • Watching this is like watching a commercial for Country Crock butter.

  • June 1996? That console is as old as I am! D: But I think it's still awesome.

  • @Metalik4ever it's a month older than me then...

  • they should release saturn games on 3ds eshop cause now days i cant find one under 80 bucks

  • What is the cartrige behind the CD input?

  • @Skittles0whoa Action replay. He made a seperate review of it :b Youtube it

  • watching the sega saturn's black plastic exterior is compared to people watching porn for me

  • @MultiWazza13 How do they suck? If it wasn't for the Genesis the Industry wouldn't be like it is today. Thats your opinion I guess, but Sega revolutionized the Industry in many ways.

  • WHY IS IT when i look online i find theese things really cheap but if i see one at a store they cost from 50$ to 120$(highest price i saw was 125$) i also HATE buying online

  • @iamuriah because they think just because its "retro" they can jack up the price and also they gotta have money to stay in business

  • buying online??

you'll get ripped off soooo bad if you try and buy from a store

online you get used from amazon saturn for 40 maybe 50 where as in a store they will be like "its old and rare, comes with all the cables and is in great condition so that'll be $120"

  • lol we acctually own one but i need sonic for this

  • Comment removed

  • I wish i had one

  • @Gamereviews1999 you should get one off of ebay they aren't to expensive

  • Comment removed

  • @Gamereviews1999 you can't go to ebay.com?

  • @MrTechnoSqueek no :[

  • @MrTechnoSqueek I appreciate your help I don't have ebay in New Zealand, I have trademe but I can't find any at the moment

  • Comment removed

  • I got a Saturn that got a thing Inside that can play JP games without a card...(cost a lot...)

  • In a perfect world, the Saturn would have been backwards compatible with the Genesis, 32x, and CD. Backwards compatibility really helped the PS2 and Wii capture early market share on their release, and I'm sure more Genesis owners would have picked up a Saturn if they knew their game library would have worked with their new system.

  • @falsehero2001 You're right. There was no reason for the Saturn not to be compatible. It had a cartridge slot, perfect for backwards compatibility.

I got my Saturn for £25, untested... but was very pleased to find that it worked. Just be aware that with consoles this old, they often used battery backup for memory. They won't work today, unless you're technically minded enough to know how to replace the battery.

I recommend the Official Backup Cart. Action Replay is much more expensive though.

  • @falsehero2001 Does the Saturn really have backwards capability with the Genesis, Sega CD, and the 32X? Tell me! I wanna know!

  • @MarioSonic2010 No it doesn't, and that's what I'm lamenting. If SEGA had been smart, they would have made the Saturn thus, but they didn't. The Saturn can only play Saturn games. If you want to play Genesis, SEGA CD, and 32X, you need a Genesis with the SEGA CD and 32X add-ons. Or as we call that whole package around here, the SEGA Cluster F**k.

  • @falsehero2001 Bullshit! *No offense*

  • @MarioSonic2010 What's bullshit? Because there's like three or four different things that I said that could you could have called bullshit on.

  • @falsehero2001 The fact that you can't play any Genesis, 32X & CD games on the Saturn, that's what I'm talking about.

  • @MarioSonic2010 Oh, I see, you're not saying anything I said was bullshit, you're saying that the Saturn's lack of backwards compatibility is, itself, bullshit. And I agree.

  • @falsehero2001 But even so, the Saturn was a pretty good system.

  • FUCK YOU SEGA FANBOY

  • @shitflopgaymershow Go to hell.

  • my saturn is a june '96 model too!

  • I just got a modchip for my saturn for christmas. Time to enjoy a huge library of classic sega games via backups.

  • i got a Sega saturn with 12 games, 2 controllers for christmas and it is awesome

  • @MegaCallum10 sick!!!! my parents got me some saturn games n money for christmas lol

  • Come back SEGA! ! ! ! !

  • @Mindlegion Nintendo all but owns Sega now. They're not coming back.

  • @Mindlegion

It wouldn't sell. I mean like sega can't even make any good games so how are they supposed to make a good console

  • I still have my sega mega drive and thats out lived 3 ps1's, 3 ps2's and 2 xbox's

  • sega saturn rulez i'm still have mine now and then a play with it XD

  • Playstation 1 is good but sega saten is better be coues you can play sound tracks on the conlce

  • who emailed Mark and said fuck you sega fan boy. who ever did that should be kicked in the balls

  • the different intro music threw me off

  • is there a sega system you don't like?

  • One of the greatest console ever.

  • i got a sega saturn from a garage sale with no video cable do you know where i can find just the cable

  • @fehneex1 Go on ebay and type in 'sega saturn av cable' and there is loads of different choices. They are all 'buy it now' auctions, so there is no bidding at all.

  • I always thought the N64 controller Kind of sucked. Only because the joy stick would ware down and it would became playfull and hard to use.

  • go sega

  • My first console was the 2600 through the early 90s. Then my family got Saturn in '95 and that's all it took to get me hooked on games. Bug!, NiGHTS, Virtua Fighter, Virtual ON, Panzer Dragoon. Amazing console, especially for its time.

  • ONE GAME SHOULD MAKE YOU BUY THIS OFF EBAY: NiGHTS Into Dreams and/or Christmas NiGHTS Into Dreams.

  • sega saturn games are expensive as hell what do you mean theyre affordable?!!?

  • @goddessmodel You can find most Sega Saturn games at garage sales, car boot sales, and on ebay for next to nothing. I just bought 5 games for £5!

  • @CHARLIESLYSTER try buying a copy of megaman 8 new unopened its 500 dollars

  • @goddessmodel Just buy a used one, makes a lot more sense ;-)

  • @CHARLIESLYSTER its still over 100 dollars most places

  • @goddessmodel Not where I live, picked one up a few months ago at a car boot sale for £1 ;-)

  • If only SEGA would've released more of the Japanese titles in the US. IF they had, I'm sure that SEGA would still have a console (assuming they didn't have to rush the Dreamcast to make up for declining Saturn sales).

  • The Saturn is good, but it's underrated and forgotten because the Playstation was released a year before Saturn, and was ultimately better. Not too long after that the N64 and then Sega tried to make a comeback with the Dreamcast. So Saturn kind of got left behind in the race... :(

  • @FicticiousAnimation sega saturn was released 4 months before the ps1 in ntsc

  • @josephskater1994 Hmm... According to my sources PS1 was released in 1994 in America, and Saturn 1995. (Meh shrugs) I can't deny the fact that Saturn is an excellent, and very underrated and unappreciated system, but nonetheless PS1 had it beat. Then Dreamcast and 64 sealed the deal.

  • @FicticiousAnimation also those of us who bought much of the Sega upgrades for the Megadrive (Genesis for Yanks) which already became 32 bit, was backward compatible and had CDs though the MegaCD to see them so eagerly trashed and the lack of games ect. for those systems, we opted for the new brand due to trust failing in Sega - we made the right choice

  • @KaineOfficial To my understanding there were only like five games on the Mega CD anyway, that coupled with Sega CD for P which was around at the same time. Sega just released a LOT of the exact same stuff at the same time. I kind of miss Sega's innovative mind though. They took risks, and I don't see a lot of that in Sony and Nintendo.

  • @FicticiousAnimation well to my understanding you have no clue what you are talking about. sega cd had 220 games released for it and it may be the most underrated console I've ever owned and still own

  • @drunkensailor112 You have no idea what you are talking about. "Mega CD" was an "upgrade" of sorts which allowed Genesis to play 32 bit games through a CD but there were only a few. "Sega CD" has tons of good games, like "Dragon's Lair" and "Sonic CD" for example. The Saturn is Saturn and the games for it are called Saturn. Saturn is underrated, Mega CD is forgotten, and Sega CD is pretty much arcade for computer.

  • @FicticiousAnimation The sega cd wasn't 32 bit!!!!!! The 32x was.

The cd was just another from of genesis games: a cd

  • @FicticiousAnimation wrong mega cd was 16bit the 32x was 32bit

  • @FicticiousAnimation sega cd is mega cd

  • @drunkensailor112 -And on top of that, because this is the second time I am replying to your comment, Seag CD isn't a console. Sega CD is computer so you really have no idea what you're talking about.

  • @FicticiousAnimation sega cd is not a computor

  • @FicticiousAnimation I can't beleive you get thumbs up for this. you are totally wrong. in fact the saturn was released BEFORE the playstation

  • @drunkensailor112 PS1 was released in America in 1994. In Japan maybe it was released earlier I don't know. In THIS video it is clearly stated that Saturn was released in America in 1995, one year after PS1's release. I worded my comment in the way I did assuming everyone watching this video is American. After all, I don't see any Japanese text in the comments.

  • @FicticiousAnimation the saturn was released in 1994 as well in japan more than a month earlier than the ps1 and in north american saturn was released in may 1995 and ps1 in september 1995. so in every region (also europe btw) the saturn was released before the ps1

  • @drunkensailor112 You are determined to prove me wrong aren't you? Well you have won this little release dates debate. Bravo.

  • @FicticiousAnimation I'm not determined to prove YOU wrong. I couldn't care less about who is saying this. it's just that things are being said that are incorrect and I like to say the truth

  • @FicticiousAnimation I can't believe I even bother going into this. the ps1 was released in north america SEPTEMBER 1995 not 1994. look it up before you come up with claims that are false. september 9 1995!!

  • @FicticiousAnimation ps1's realese in america was 1995 as well

  • @FicticiousAnimation The PS1 was actually released in the U.S. in 1995. 1994 in Japan.

  • @mistertitanic Already got that info, after I placed my comment OF COURSE. LOL! Thanks man!

  • @FicticiousAnimation Yeah I see like 2 pages of comments between you and another guy hahaha.

  • @mistertitanic Hahaha yeah that guy was fun to debate with, When he finally laid down some facts I was just like "Man you got it you win man nice run" LOL XD!

  • @FicticiousAnimation wrong saturn was realeased befor the playstaion.

  • @FicticiousAnimation

The Saturn was released before the PS1.

  • @FicticiousAnimation It was underrated because the big consoled coming out yes, but everyone was just kinda sick of sega's shit, like the 32x coming out right before the saturn.

    still like it though.

  • @MrNicktheparakeet Yeah the 32X, and the Mega CD, then all their computer CD's. It was too much of the same stuff all at once.

  • @FicticiousAnimation The PlayStation released a year after Saturn (in the US) actually.

  • Ah, the Saturn... pretty much an arcade machine condensed into a console, good memories of Sega Rally, Daytona USA, Virtua Racing, Virtua Fighter 1 and 2, Virtua Cop, House of the Dead, Radiant Silvergun... good times...

  • @RattyRandnums Ok, the term failure-prone reminds me of an addon that makes a console look like a fucking toilet: the Atari Jaguar CD!

  • Can you use the cartridge slot for genesis games?

  • @Leo17453 No the Saturn's not backwards compatible, the slot is basically just a memory card slot. You wouldn't want to use it for genesis games even if you could, the saturn's cartridge slot is notoriously failure-prone.

  • hmm, I remembered the saturn controllers being these giant fucking round circle things with handles on em that looked more like the dreamcast ones.

  • @schwarg You're talking about the "3D controller".

  • @CrossoverGameReviews exactly. That idiot doesent even know how many game reviewers there are. Only the people who copy the angry video game nerds work are the ones who should be destroyed

  • @davidrubiomartin I know what you mean they're so alike

  • 3:47--I agree 100%!

  • does saturn play genesis games?

  • @verej1 Nope.avi, the Saturn memory cards resembled Genesis cartridges, though.

  • @davidrubiomartin nice troll bro

  • @davidrubiomartin I like both.

  • @davidrubiomartin As much as I like AVGN, he's just one of a ton of great video game reviewers. I don't understand why you'd single him out here. This video isn't trying to be anything like him.

  • @davidrubiomartin CGR and AVGN have nothing to do with each other. I can understand Irate Gamer and That Guy with the Glasses, but Classic Game Room is a show of it's own. It has no competitor.

  • Mega Man X4 on Saturn for the fucking win

  • It's a shame that the Saturn failed, we could have seen a lot of very good games, and Sega still being alive today.

  • Crusader dude looks like a storm trooper

  • v that guy has a great excuse im gunna uze it sorry im italian v

  • i love your videos, at first i was like, another reviewer, cuz i was so into avgn but, now im starting to watch your vids in every chance i get because i found you very modest, and of course, so entretaining. thnx for giving us hours of fun and make us waste money on stuff we thought was shitty, cuz you make every thing you review look awesome and worth buying. im getting many of my ps3 games because of you!

thnx again., sorry for bad english, im italian ;)

  • I had one, my father payed something like R$400 for one and was really great... Best video game i ever had.

  • its worth buying cause half the games made for the saturn r only for the saturn cause the 32 bit wont play saturn games. including saturn disks

  • Actually, it should be mentioned that most of the best sega saturn games are really expensive due to being rare. Panzer Dragoon Saga, Shining Force 3 for starters. PDS is considered the best on the console and that's like, what, $80-$100 last time I checked.

  • @zachandthemachines LOL try $250-300. Even the AVERAGE rare Saturn game typically goes for a little higher than $80-100.

  • Saturn would be my 3rd favorite Sega system behind Dreamcast and Genesis

  • i loved sega, it makes me sad that they arent making game consoles anymore

  • model 2 saturn, pft. model 1 all the way

  • @sirvegeta theyre basically the same shit tho i have a model 2 that i got for my genesis model 1 and 5 bucks as a trade

  • @josephskater1994 i have 3 model 1s and two model twos, i like the model 1 much better

  • the saturn is awesome!!!!!

  • i love the console :D

  • Sega made some quality hardware right there, unbelievable visions of games that were true to the essence of video gaming. Shit like this i miss

  • the sega saturn was very hard to programm for but when deviding different instructions for each proccesor and then cairfully deviding the memory bus alternately for those 2 central proccesors it was possible to get used with it.

also 3d has to be mostly done in software in order to overcome those 3d limmitations.

finaly identical assambly code & type polygon from other systems had to be translated into code & type polygons for the saturn.

so porting a psx gamme to the saturn took more work.

  • review panzer dragoon saga i love that game

  • "Fuck you SEGA-fanboy" wow, I'm surprised Nintendo supporters nowadays still remember SEGA and how they actually competed with Nintendo for the most part ...

  • i remember the time back then before i bought even the psx i was about to buy the saturn until i saw that crazy price tag for it and i was like O_O;

a time have pass then i bought the psx with my first 3 psx games tekken 3 , fifa road to world cup 98 and GT1

which i think i made the right choice.

  • hello, but the ignition wire of the U.S. and saturn saturn compatible with the PAL

  • Mark, did you get your hands on a Panzer Dragoon Saga copy by now?

  • I just bought my first Saturn with 14 complete games off craigslist for 100 bucks....pretty sweet deal...i think? I guess i'm not sure on all the game values. But i'm looking forward to diggin' in!

  • @DrunkenMasterWarrior That's not a bad deal actually. Had you bought it online you would have paid no less than $40.00 for just the console. And the games would all at least be $5.00 with shipping included. You got a decent deal. Enjoy the saturn!

  • Really? not much to break? because my open mechanism is broken!

  • @nuuhtoyouruhhu "... if it does it should be a helluva lot easier to fix."

  • @sciprio1 true, true

  • @nuuhtoyouruhhu Yeah, It should be easy to repair, but you should be happy, after all you have your Saturn, where I live it 's very difficult to find one, because it wasn't popular.

  • i dont know why but my cousin is scared of the sega saturn

  • What do you mean with ''my Mark and Mark is class.''?

  • One thing I always loved about the Saturn (and this was also true of its big brother, the Dreamcast)...it was heavy. Solid. You pick it up and it felt like it was unbreakable. Like if you were to accidentally drop it on your foot, your foot might break but the game console wouldn't.

  • I'm sorry, this review wasn't good at all in my opinion, you didn't say many useful or even interesting things and you didn't show any gameplay. That's sad!

  • @immothep101

How can you not like that review after all it was done my Mark and Mark is class.

  • I'm thinking about getting one

  • Mr.Bone's and Herc's Adventure were the best titles for the Saturn.

  • Street fighter vs x men the best reason to own a Saturn

  • Still have it! Still works! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...............memories!

  • no hdmi?

  • I have Steam already, I don't want your cloud gaming!

  • At 1 : 38 that game is Konami's Life Force and was released for the NES in the US.

  • is This Sega works for CD and Cardridges Both ?
