  • I practice this shit every single day

  • duuuuuude 2 much distortion. use a little less and play it more clean

  • Not for beginners, played BY beginner.

  • Painful to watch, although the sped up version rocks.

  • what exactly is a diminished, is it like yoy play some scale notes and play the same notes in a different key, correct? cause thats what it seems like

  • @kylepardueish 1 + 1/5 step scale

  • diminished triad is R - b3 - b5, dimished 7th is R - b3 - b5 - bb7. you can also get "half diminished seventh "which are also referred to as m7b5 chords, R - b3 - b5 - b7

  • @kylepardueish It's when you flatten the 3rd and 5th notes in a major scale to create a chord then you play each not separately making it an arpeggio. What you're talking about is transposing.

  • boring a s hell but informitive

  • This is so dissonant, nice :)

  • thanx man its real helpful...

  • Devin townsend uses cgcgce and I asked obviously because I didn't know.

  • I think the tone would be more organic if they made the pickups 50% corn.

  • is this in standard tuning? i wanna learn it in cgcgce.

  • @OXCerberusX0 um, frets are symmetrical, its not like a piano, so you just play some frets away to transpose it... oh, I just saw your tuning. Well, why would you use such tuning? What bands play like that?? Anyways, diminishing is a sequence of perfect fourths, intervals, fourths in chromatic scale. Its not like you need help to figure such a simplistic figure....

  • @omgtkseth,

I agree that guitar is easier than piano to transpose on! However, your statement about diminished being "perfect-fourths, intervals, fourths in the chromatic-scale?" What the hell does that even mean - LOL!

    Diminished-Triad = R - b3 -b5 --> 3-notes separated by 2 symmetrical "minor-3rds."

    Diminished-7th = R - b3 -b5 bb7--> 4-notes separated by 3 symmetrical "minor-3rds."

BTW, OXCerbusX0's tuning is a modified (but valid) Open "C" major tuning. ..

  • yngwie malmsteen style ftw!

  • I it means to get an annoying as metronome ill do it -.-

  • Thanks for this man it is really helping me and I got it down quick \m/ :D

  • This vid diddnt help me. the other ones do tho.

  • very well done. i've improved with these quite well. thanx.

  • what this is for beginners? shit then i really suck at guitar i think I'll just quit today

  • @RuFiOPx meh im still a beginner ive been playin for 2-3 yrs :L doint quit :)

  • @AlexM1175 same here. but im not sure if im a beginner still? Benn playing as long but im beter than people ive seen who been playing for 5. Guess its just ppl who learn diffrently.

  • @RuFiOPx LOL......dude! u dont suck....this video is for arpeggios lesson beginners, not for guitar lesson beginners... :-) i hope i have encouraged you

  • New channel. Search "Guitaristified" . Great solos~

  • Easy to distinguish? lols, cut off the reverb then, no matter how you twist and turn it, the tone is very thin.

  • His guitar looks smooth and creamy like an ice cream!

  • @SmokescreenAbyss :D I knooowwwww. I want it.

  • @SmokescreenAbyss it is an ibanez JS2400!

  • @SmokescreenAbyss And Carvin is really close to Carvel..... MAYBE IT IS ICECREAM!

  • bosan3x..

  • @opik87 and go watch justin bieber

  • They are maybe for beginners because of the speed but if you play this fast you are on your way to become yngwie.

  • @DillonNicholsonTV prove it. doesnt matter how good you think you are, Ill bet this dude can spell, at least.

  • duuuuuude wtf kinda song is that like acdc with yngwie like serously get reel. omfg he sucks like hes not evevn doin it right fuck im like waay better. and i dont aprreshiate hows hethinks hes like badass like get off ur hi hourse dang...

  • @DillonNicholsonTV rofl be quiet

  • @DillonNicholsonTV hahahaha wicked XD

  • This is what you have to do all day and night for many hours! and you might get the hang of it. arpeggios are hard and your wasting your time if you don't use a metrodome.

  • why the heck are people so afraid to show their face on youtube? if we are going to watch your video and listen to your songs then show your stupid face! unless you are really hideously ugly then why not show your face? its the internet stop being afraid of it.

  • @Freedomcall82

You're here for guitar lessons.. Not Faces . calm down

  • @Freedomcall82 Is it difficult to masterbate to this without a face?

  • @MetallicaSucksPl0x your a sick person and you need to really look at what you are saying. you need help.

I was just addressing that most people on youtube make videos that arent professional and they hide their face. its sick people like you that are disgusting. who would say something like that to a person? not me

  • @Freedomcall82 Maybe...he just really wants you to be able to see his guitar.. and he's kinda standing up, can't get a zoom in on the guitar and on his face at the same time. I think you're just overreacting. lol

  • This just reminds me about what Joe satriani said and warned about scales.

He always said to use the metronome sparingly and to just learn songs. learn the songs and the theory behind them, and THEN add little spices, colors, little touches of flashy techniques to them.

I don't have my own metronome, but i use an online one.

Right now I'm working on Technical Difficulties, I'll have it up soon but wow, I can't believe the strict doctrine the metronome picking practice instills in you.

  • The metronome is a very useful tool for aspiring guitarists, especially ones who want to play faster. The metronome helps you keep track of your speed and timing. It helps you build more speed very quickly and helps you set goals for speed. If you play just for fun, then it's not useful. If you want to take guitar seriously, I suggest using the metronome.

  • @doublej706 I never said not to, I rather said use it sparingly.

  • @doublej706 i back you up completely! i use a metronome when i learn or practice anything and its a key component to timing.

  • THIS IS SO TESTAMENT-ISH!!!!!!

METALHEADS (thrashers specifically) KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT

  • Thanks Roo...I especially liked the tab located in the description...

  • thanks a lot for the lesson man..but i '"tweaked" it a little...hehe..great video

  • Yngwie's arpeggios smoke this assclown like he doesn't even matter. Guess what?? He doesn't matter...hahahaha. It's making me happy that DT is dead meat now too.. LOLLOLLOLLOL..

  • @one4technique im glad DT is dying but Yngwie is shit

  • @atari3200t Me too but Ynwie's arpeggios smoke like lighting dude. You wish you could make runs like that??

  • @one4technique no i dont

  • @atari3200t yes you do cause you most certainly can't. You are a non player deluxe at best..

  • @one4technique wow that was one of the gayest things ive heard anyone say. second i would kill myself if i played like that pretentious fag. third, ive been playing guitar for about 2 years, bass for 1,mandolin,and upright bass. get your facts straight fag.

  • @atari3200t Oh sorry. You ate just 2 years on guitar. You are a beginning suckass nobody.. Later fool.

  • @one4technique and you are a dumbass fag who cant spell or tell the difference between washed up blowhards and real music

  • @atari3200t Get back to someone when you can play halassed at least. say in about 15 to 20 years Ok. Amateur. You can't even tune a guitar yet...hahahahahahaha

  • @one4technique and you continue to talk like a retard. cant tune a guitar? damn that hurts so bad. id almost cry if it were true and you werent a fag

  • @atari3200t Wouldn't matter if I was a fag or not. You can't tune a guitar much less play one.

  • @one4technique play a hell of alot better than some people i know. and people like you who cant stop talking shit are never able to play anything well because your head is too far up your ass to hear

  • @atari3200t You wish you could play even as crummy as Nick Jonas. And i smoke any guitar player you know w/ease...

  • @one4technique yeah the fuck right. little man talks a big game. same story different person. heard it a million times

  • @atari3200t Chop chop. get practicing twerp. you have along long way to go.

  • @one4technique and you have the most tired out excuses ive ever heard from anyone ever. twerp? is this a fucking cartoon now? are you so shit that you have to imagine a different world where people dont go deaf as soon as you pick up a damn instrument?

  • @atari3200t Nick Jonas isn't even worried about your untakented and out of tune non playing deluxe ass..hahahahahaha..Yeah twerp.....

  • @one4technique youre getting more and more pitiful little man. its becoming more and more obvious you cant play shit just because you cant stop talking it.

  • @atari3200t Sorry bro, but 2 years is practically nothing on guitar. Yngwie IS much better than you, if not just for his superior understanding of music theory and scalar positions, but for his ability to think on his instrument that just comes with time. There's just only so much you can fit in 2 years. I remember when I was at about that level and thought I was the hottest shit this side of the sun. With maturity on your instrument comes modesty, and appreciation for others talents.

  • @AdjustedGuitar08 i never said i was better than him. im just not a stuck up cock sucker who plays a tired out genre of music. this is the man who compares himself to classical composers. there are people out there who are innovators in guitar andd they get no recognition yet he plays the same shit every other neo classical guy does. i frankly cannot stand neo classical therefore do not wanna be compared to nor influenced by it.

  • @atari3200t I don't think that the genre of music he plays, or let alone practically invented, has anything to do with his sexual habits, so i'd prefer if you leave the "cock sucker" comments on less respectable video threads. I'm not saying that he's not repetitive, but you cannot deny that it's influential and innovative. The millions of bedroom virtuosos that you see all too much of on youtube are called "Yngwie Clones" for a reason; he pioneered the style utilized by many a modern guitarist.

  • nothing is wrong with the tone. thnx for the lesson

  • Thanks your lessons helps ! about the tone they're right it don't sound classic like malmsteen it sound cannibal like any other metal band

  • Nice, your vids help a lot man!

    thanks!

  • Why are these guys trying to criticize and breakdown the "tonal qualities" of a tutorial video? lol It's not like this guy is trying to give the performance of his life. He's just breaking down some basics for beginner guitarists. Youtube comments never fail to amaze me.

  • @adamresyk2112 Heh, i see what you mean. Well, shredding can be easily overdone. It's still appropriate, if its only used as a fill: you still need to come up with a good riff.

Not to jump several bridges, but think of what dream theater does: shredding sections inbetween a good riff. That's where i think shredding will never die.

  • @adamresyk2112 Well remember that diminished chords dont necessarily sound bad in the music itself: think of Clair de Lune by Claude Debussey, he uses a half diminished chord regularily and it sounds perfectly major. It's all relative to where you use diminisheds: i.e. the five of five in a minor key. When used in the right inversion/tonality, it sounds great.

After he's done shredding a diminished, he could very well resolve to a major or minor chord and it would sound great.

  • Carvin?

  • Dude get a Les Paul, this is way too thin

  • @ovw93 les pauls suck.

  • @zilch1823 les paul has a tone which no other guitar has, and you know it. there might be a reason for the price of a 1959 sunburst

  • @ovw93 Just a week ago the neck snapped on my les paul ._.

  • @ovw93 yeah it gets that tone from a glues in neck (kills any frequency that would come from said neck or fretboard) a 22 fret neck with a pickup that falls on the 24th fret harmonic, a horoble headstock design, and sub-par cnc machine made bodies. Les pauls are the most outdated and flawed guitar on the planet. their unique tone is nothing mare than muddy shit that cant be saved. There's a reason gibson is voted the number one worst company to work for by its employees.

  • @VirgilGrin loool man so you are saying that g&n is an outdated band? and you are trying to tell me that a les paul is a bad guitar? that's not true, but all that pop-metal is making ibanez and ESP poplular, but they do not have the qualety of a les paul, if you are trying to tell me that a les paul 1959 sunburst is a guitar which sucks, then I only got one thing to say; try hearing withesnake, guns n' roses or dio and tell me that it is outdated music.

  • @ovw93 wow so obviously you missed the point. never said anything about the guitarist said it about the guitar but.....

vivian cambel- stopped using after holy diver

    craig goldy- never used em

tracy g- more strats then les pauls all heavily modified

    Doug aldrich- mainly strats

vandenberg- didnt use les pauls during whitsnake(and the vandenberg years are what made whitesnake)

Slash- its cmonly known that his "appetite" LP was a fake

  • that looks like a Carvin : )

  • Why add a metronome afterwards? I don't see the point.

  • @TheDot1313 The chord structure has nothing to do with it. The tone is the quality of sound -- thin or trebly, bassy, mid, ect. And I can't STAND this kind of tone either -- it's harsh and grating on the ears, like nails on chalkboard. Tone contributes a lot to the beauty of the music -- this kind of stuff just makes me jumpy. This is what passes for music these days -- no ebb and flow to playing, just how many notes a minute you can play.

  • @adamresyk2112 clear tone , easy to distinguish notes clearly , perfect for a video "lesson".

u want good music , go listen to a song .

This is not music , it's a tutorial , with excercises.

  • @c1eLno1r All I'm saying is you play the way you practice, and if you practice like this your best gigs will be sitting on your bed playing along to shitty backing tracks.

  • @adamresyk2112 LOts of legit guitarists ( paul gilbert , michael angelo batio and many others) would disagree and say that playing excercises with a clear tone has to be done .

  • thums up if you thumbed down the video but still stole all the licks from it lol

  • @ragingstorm33 lol idiot, i thumbed your comment down -.-

  • i think your all stupid. ya the tone isnt as smooth and thats because it a DIMINISHED chord. go on ur lame ass guitars and look how to play a diminished chord and see how it sounds

  • @TheDot1313 not what people are talking about dude, tho yes i agree the criticism dose not need to be so "im better at you at guitar" or " i wish i was better at guitar" what ever the case may be. we could all be a bit nicer.

  • Great tone...Great warm up

  • ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch!

  • I like his tone, what's wrong with you people?

  • @adamresyk2112, its a practice video for crying out loud

  • is that a carvin bolt i am looking to get some new guitars and want a carvin im not sure witch one

  • Jeff Loomis uses this like noone else and is sounds absolutely incredible, I learned it from Jeff and have used it ever since, its better learning it just a little and then learning how to derive your own style from it, i now do this with string skipping from the high E to the G and also mix it with some Rusty Cooley diminished techniques. =]

  • 21-52 just made my day!

  • earpoison

  • @adamresyk2112 serious? i like the sound... i even think it's pretty big and full! Am I the only one who hear it different?!

  • @kalumo24 Maybe you get off on pain lol.... It's a nice guitar, it's just got crappy, brittle distortion, and the playing is very 'athletic', as opposed to musical.... but everyone has different tastes, so I don't think there's a right or wrong,

  • @kalumo24 i think so

  • @kalumo24 I agree, i think the other guys have crappy speakers. Do you have good speakers? Cause to me this is pretty great tone, clear and full.

  • @blackalbino360 Same I'm listening through studio monitors and this guy's tone is real midrangy and dynamic. Thumbs up from a producer.

  • quit goin so slow

  • Wow, EX3 sounds a lot like the second lead break in Blotted Science - Oscillation Cycles.

  • @MikePostDrums

well they are both played in diminished. :D

  • its pretty funny, on all the yngwie malmsteen lessons people bitch that he plays too fast..this guy is trying to play slow and you STILL bitch, fucking pussies

  • @dontcare441

    lolumad?

    yea u mad.

  • @thekcor Haha yeah, I love the sound of diminished. I hear it a lot in Necrophagist's music as well. I'm not much of a guitarist, though .. but I guess you figured that out through my name. :)

  • exelente.. muchas gracias

  • This is a nice little lesson, but I can't take that gratingly over-driven chainsaw on chalkboard tone.

  • @Bucketbucketdog FUHCK YEW

  • AAAAHHH His tone is torture!!

  • He's trying to hard to sound like Joe Satriani.

  • Nice lesson, well played!

Don't listen to those people, i guess they didn't read it is "DIMINISHED" arpeggios...or they don't know what diminished is :-/

    Nice tone, well played, helpful.

    Keep it up man !

  • lol look at EX 2....that isn't for beginners. If a beginner tried this, it wouldn't be long and their fingers would be bleeding...

  • lol adam...You sound like my parents....when my mom would say that, I'd turn up Slayer even louder :)

  • This video is about a guitar techinique used in Heavy Metal Songs. It's not suposed to be easy listening. Is used when the player needs a strange dark and demoniac solos.

  • @bagassera because metal is all about being demonic and they invented diminished chords and arpeggios right? haha yeah right

  • @atari3200t lol

  • americanos só reclamam.....vão fazer um video então porr.a...........

  • Hahaha everyone acts like this video is supposed to be a song or something. It's a fucking technique video for beginners for fuck's sake

  • @311skalove JAJAJJAJAJAJAJAAJ fucks sake:B

  • carvin guitars are but ugly.

  • If you listen to the legend like john lee hooker and jimmy hendrix it's not about how fast you play its about the music music is supposed to have a soul and its all about rythum somebody tell me what rock has come to is it the end already?

  • Sounds poopy

  • @adamresyk2112 NO! It's the Diminished arpeggios. D: They kill the soul

  • Sip !!!! 00:01

  • grrr that guitar is ugly! i wanna break it. looks like a baby's toy

  • yngwie does it better =P

  • this is from hatebreeder by bodom !

  • its just trebily

  • And now I'm inspired to eat my fingers so I never play in that tone o.e

  • I still think i prefer just sitting down with my guitar, and shredding a couple licks in no particular order, improv is just fun man.

  • what key is this in?

  • and you couldn't have done this on a clean setting ?

  • this hurts my spine

  • why pick every single note when its 500times easier to use hammers and pulloffs

  • @terrorking01 hes teaching it to beginners

  • Muchas gracias maestro, por enseñar muy buenos ejercicios. Greetings!

  • thnank you! this really helpped me alot

  • AFTER THE FUCKING ADVERTISMENTS THIS IS ALL YOU GET IT'S NOT WORTH MUCH AT ALL!!

  • omg!

  • My ears hurt even more than my fingers now

  • this isn't very informative.

  • alright... now what?

  • what kind of guitar is that?

  • @jimbobplaysbass

    carvin DC

  • Comment removed

  • @jimbobplaysbass

    electric

  • That tone...

    Totally hurts my ears.

  • @Arnevet what are u talking about , its and awesome tone

  • @Arnevet for real man. . . . .half the guitar videos on youtube are generic positions moved around the entire neck. . . .there's no formula for writing a good song, what is rock n roll with no soul?

  • arpeggios and stuff are basic stuff, playing it fast however requires experience.

  • i dont think this arpeggios are for begginers

  • @arturmet for if your a beginner in arpeggios...

  • Hey! Why NOT LEARN FROM EACH OTHER! okThANK YOU!

  • Hey! Why NOT LEARN FROM EACH OTHER!

  • paul uses sweeping moeni foken stry ni my fok

  • i actually think this excersise hinders beginners because it teaches them to pick all the notes in an arpeggio instead of sweep them.

  • @Toxin08 not all arpeggio's are sweeps dude

  • @Zorlak108

you must be a beginner. the only way to play arpeggio's fast is to sweep them. you can pick them but then you'll never be able to play them fast

  • @Toxin08 ehm haha have you ever seen paul gilbert ?? he never uses sweep picking , and he plays arpeggios fast as fuckin hell with string skipping :P i bet you can't play the scarified arpeggios as fast and clean as him
