“Joe was a very good wrestler who was a real tough guy according to Jerry Jarrett, so this is real. they didn't need angles and storylines then, u just gotta look at joe and he scares you, without the likes of mark henry trying to be hard
i heard somewhere years ago that they used to get into wrestling because it was better than prison and gave them a name that they lived up to
@flipgood89 That was the name of the game. That's one reason people were so into wrestling and always wondered "is this real?" because those guys stood there and punched each other right in the cotton pickin' face.
Joe LeDuc was one of the most underrated wrestlers ever. He was always exciting to watch. You never knew what to expect from that crazy man. It's too bad he didn't make it big time in the WWE or the WCW back in the 80's. They missed the boar on this guy.
one of the strongest men in the sport. he can pick you up and lift you over his shoulder with one arm.and big men he has thrown arounde. the man was awesome.
@CombatSportFan 11:am to 12:30 every Saturday Morning.... They drew 7 to 8,000 thousand people EVERY MONDAY NIGHT...Lots of Monday nights it would be a sellout...And LeDuc REALLY cut himself on live TV..freaked Lance Russell and everyone else out...
Yeah, I knew all that :P I was being sarcastic about what they could get away with on Saturday morning television back then, and just how much has changed in the last 30 years.
I read the sheets the other day and apparently WWE wants to make Mike Knox into "a modern day Joe Leduc". Knox has potential but there isn't anyone who could pull off Joe Leduc but Joe Leduc because he is one of a kind.
I did not see this as it happened but in 1979 LeDuc was in Florida as a face. Jimmy Garvin said he had a video on LeDuc saying LeDuc was not who he claimed to be and that he was in Sonny King's pocket. LeDuc denied it.
Finally, Garvin brought out this video of LeDuc throwing Lawler on the table and being paid by Sonny King. LeDuc went crazy and beat up Jimmy Garvin until Killer Kox came out and hit LeDuc with a chair.
After Lawler hit the table Eddie Marlin came out and told him it looked great and to just lay there. To which Lawler replied,"don't worry, he broke my leg....". Lawler grabbed the the rope briefly as LeDuc threw him, he would later say he probably would have been OK if he had just went with it and not grabbed the rope.
Like I once stated before, I saw LeDuc in a match when I was grown and he still scared the bejesus out of me. I don't think the man ever aged. He looked the same over a twenty year span in the Memphis teritory.
I read n Lawlers book about Leduc being a true badass.

Lawler was very special. His punches looked so legit AND he sold like mad. One of the best brawlers ever and he wasn't even that big.

Lawler acutally ruptured a blood vessel in his thigh and had to have surgery.

@MikeJ6129 I remeber when that happened. Lalwer actually thought LeDuc was out to seriously hurt him...

Why yes, they did show this at 10:30am on Saturday mornings why do you ask? (And WWE is worried about PG stuff on pay-per-view...please...)

Convince Knox to do a legitimate axe blade job on his arm during a promo and it'd be a start.

Lance Russel sounds genuinely terrified when he yells, "Look Out!!!"

I bet they had to find replacements wrestlers for Lawlers storylines after his injury. Like Tommy Rich could be put in Lawlers place

@volstar88 I don't think he broke his leg... I think he dislocated something though and that's why he couldn't get up.
