@DeadlyAntenna While just about any sort of popular fandom has sexual aspects in it, furries is more about creativity and sort of 'unleashing your inner animal'. For some, fursuiting helps them overcome social barriers and helps them be more outgoing. Its more a social thing than anything else.

We're just normal people who some like to wear suits to express our inner selves. We're also an open minded bunch, so people find it great cause they can just be them without being personally criticized

Some were so popular that they set up fursuit making companies as a result. It's quite an artform, it takes time and care. This isn't your average football team or basketball team mascot in a saggy bag with goofy eyes, this is people who take the time to make a really cute really friendly looking character in a well made suit that fits the wearer.
