can some one please explain to me this, wat is the whole point of this place, in Hostile? wat is it for, is it basically a place for u top gointo a place, pay 10,000, and torture a person?
that and if ur real mad at someone and want to torture someone who looks like the person u got a grudge against. Like this guy and his wife. mainly what the 2nd movie was about
@MrMysemannen If you are a true horror fan, I would say the first one is great. Alot of people say they go over the top with the gore, but that is what makes the film so gripping!
this would honestly be your worst nightmare, right? imagine being the victim of this sort of thing. Dear God, I hope places like this don't exist in real life. I can't imagine being a victim. May God help these poor people if they do indeed exist.
Its very well possible that places like this exist in the world, people get smuggled and sold as sex slaves, this could just be another sector of that.
@iLuvBarRefaeli Eli Roth got the idea of the movie from a website claiming to be something JUST like Elite Hunting Club. Though it was probably fake, people obviously have had the idea before.
No they are not, it's all just hype and little gore shown. You want something tougher that will shock you, this is just hollywood stuff. Watch Salo: 120 Days in Sodom, Cannibal Ferox, Cannibal Holocaust, Men Behind The Sun, The untold Story, The New York Ripper, In a Glass Cage, Ilsa She-Wolf of the SS, Bloodsucking Freaks, Maniac (1980), Irreversible etc. I double dare you to watch them.
@Johnlindsey289 haha Don't get me Wrong I don't like just pure gore, that's what I'm saying... and don't really think of hostel as something really awesome not much of a moral, just the kind of movie one watches to see gore... but I respect Eli Roth, and yes I find this pretty poetic and interesting!!! I mean it has its deep moment's but concentrates in gore... Eli Roth Say's it himself "If I don't return home covered head to toes in fake blood, I'm not doing my job as a horror film director".
@Johnlindsey289 Yes... and let me tell you, I don't find that really mind shocking, I just find it disturbing that people can really get to imagine such shit, and its just gross to see a bloodshed for no reason, its pointless to sit and watch people die, I haven't watch those all, But I mean those are not really based on something real, like "Untold story" is an exaggeration of a one event thing, its just sick and masochist to watch but its the same with hostel and human centipide...
Yeh right on Hostel, go watch Men Behind The Sun, worse than any Hostel movie, Hostel is tame as is Human Centipede. MBTS will mess you up as it's about the horrors of WWII on how the Japanese tortured the russians and Chinese people for biological experiments near the end of the dead. Horrifying torture galore, a real cat is thrown into a pit of flesh-eating rats and they used an actual kid's dead corpse for an autopsy in a morgue scene.
@Johnlindsey289 P2... The thing that might make them feel more real, are the effects they had for a movie in those years... One thing is that Some of those movies like "Salo" are kinda poetic, but not like they really leave you something good, I prefer Strongly psychological films Like "Pie the order of Chaos" that mind fucks me because of its complexity... but if you want a really depressing movie watch "8 mm...", just saying not my type of films, but I respect them as they deserve...
What's wrong with reflecting 9/11, today's war on Iraq, Guantamano Bay and Abu Ghariub? these films are a reflection of those things and mirrors them as much as 70's shockers like The Last House on The Left, Wizard of Gore, Dawn of the Dead etc. were influenced by Vietnam and the images from Vietnam 8mm pics
@Johnlindsey289 Nothing is wrong with it, its the graphic way in which they "recreate" the events, its not necessary to add the gore, (specially if it is something that really happened), that's the difference between listening to something "gory" and watching it, and that's what I mean, I don't hate those films in any way, just saying that there are other films that maybe equally or even more poetic, treating similar topics without the gore!
NO THEY ARE NOT, this is hollywood stuff, watered down and all. You want to see real sick shit, go watch the 1988 Hong Kong shocker "Men Behind The Sun" which is about the last days of WWII where the Japanese torture Chinese and Russian people for biological experiments, very sick stuff with horrifying torture scenes, a real cat being thrown into a pit of flesh-eating rats and a scene filmed in a morgue where a real dead kid's body is having an autopsy.
@LongDriveChamp03 I founddd it ! oh yeahhh xD. the name of the song is "Synečku Synečku" ! /// put on youtube : Synecku,Synecku (Lyrics and English Sub) ;)
This movie is SO confusing, but i think i get the plot now (sarcasm)... They capture completely innocent people, tie them up so they can't kick the crap out of thier captor, then begin to torture them........... because they have small dicks? omg what joy is thier in torturing a completely innocent person :O the only reason i see for someone doing that is if they have an entsy, bitsy penis
@LINKchris87 that's like saying you will never travel to Texas because of the Texas chainsaw massacre (which didn't even happen in Texas), therefore everyone in Texas will kill you with a chainsaw. Don't be ignorant, don't stereotype.
@Ebook94 haha that was funny (everyone in texas chasing the tourists carrying a chainsaw), it was just an expression. i dont obviously think all eastern european people are murderers because im european too and everybodys kind here ;-)

It's very rare that I can find a horror movie actually horrifying. Hostel scares me to death because it can actually happen (or is happening, who knows). When one can understand how truly evil and depraved Man is the possibilities are endless.
Was in slovakia 2 days a go. went to watch the ice hockey world champion games. I watched this movie on the plane. Imagine my panic when after the game our cab driver asked do we want get a ride to cheap hotel with prostitutes.
But to answer your question, quote from wikipedia.
"The film's release was accompanied by strong complaints from the country of Slovakia, and also from the Czech Republic. Slovak officials were disgusted by the film's portrayal of their country as an undeveloped, poor and uncultured land suffering from high criminality, war and prostitution, fearing it would "damage the good reputation of Slovakia" and make foreigners feel it was a dangerous place to be."
"The tourist board of Slovakia invited Roth on an all-expense paid trip to their country so he could see it is not made up of run down factories and kids who kill for bubble gum. Tomáš Galbavý, a Slovak Member of Parliament, commented: "I am offended by this film. I think that all Slovaks should feel offended."
From my perspective(I'm from Scandinavia) there is a much greater reason to be scared of what's going on in the USA then in many, at least, European countries, if we base this on media, movies and real life incidences.
But I don't go comment on youtube "Do they really do this in USA?" after I have seen Texas Chainsaw Massacre. As I would sound like a dumb fuck. It's like I'm implying that this is done frequently in USA, as if it was normal to chainsaw massacre..
"Defending himself, Roth said the film was not meant to be offensive, arguing "Americans do not even know that this country exists. My film is not a geographical work but aims to show Americans' ignorance of the world around them." Roth has repeatedly argued that despite the many films in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre series, people still go to Texas."
I love the way in the first one the guys were tempted to go to Hostel land by girls and drugs and in this one the girls are tempted by a spa and facials - the second one sucked - I think people would notice rich Americans vanishing and facebook, twitter etc would let them all know where they were when they did.
The song in the begining scares me xD

"Defending himself, Roth said the film was not meant to be offensive, arguing "Americans do not even know that this country exists. My film is not a geographical work but aims to show Americans' ignorance of the world around them." Roth has repeatedly argued that despite the many films in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre series, people still go to Texas."

I think the 2nd was much better. I liked how it gave the murderers more of a storyline, it made it more interesting.

I love the way in the first one the guys were tempted to go to Hostel land by girls and drugs and in this one the girls are tempted by a spa and facials - the second one sucked - I think people would notice rich Americans vanishing and facebook, twitter etc would let them all know where they were when they did.
