It seems to me that people just don't seem to enjoy an ending that is ambiguous and nothing is resolved. I guess they expected the sheriff to have a hoedown with Anton. I liked the ending. Sometimes in real life the "bad" guy gets away.

@AQGOAT24 movie and ending pretty much goes with the title, sheriff wished the times were simpler like how they supposedly were in the past but he finds out that this was never true. So the ending fits the theme nicely, if it was a nice hollywood ending then it would go against the whole point of film

This movie gave me chills non stop like the whole movie. Favorite movie of all time by far lol. Javier Bardem was outstanding I don't even have words to explain how perfectly he played the part. And I LOVED the ending it's nice to not have a fairytale ending and have some reality for once. The Coen Brothers rock!! Bravooo

How about the WORST ending in the history of film!!! The main character is killed off-screen, followed by several anti-climactic scenes, the villian walking away from a car crash, and an old sheriff talking about some stupid dream he had. Its like the Coen brothers ran out of money and just threw together an ending. Its a fucking joke that this movie gets any credit, its totally incomplete.

@krtzone The ending was the bad guy walking away to kill again. The serial killer guy signified crime in the U.S. and how it will always exist to threaten the security of the people in the nation. All movies don't need a happy ending.

The End of this film is perfect! The sherif is now retired and feeling as if he has let his father down. Thats what the first dream ment. The second dream was about his father understanding his son faced the same things he faced as a law man and accepting it. The ending shows how this unstoppable evil weathers even the strongest of men, hence the name no country for 'OLD MEN' meaning the country is tough even for experienced war veterans turned law men!

Why? becuase you didnt get your happy hollywood ending? Sorry this movie wasnt made by Walt Disney. But that ending is probably one of the more realistic endings to a movie that i've seen. Ed tom Bell is an "Old Man" who is just to worn for the work he's doing. he may be the good guy, but he is just too old to finish the job. He doesnt understand the way things are going, so he retires, and the evil world that he doesnt understand anymore keeps turning.

At least thats what I got from it.
