Ron Paul treats the Constitution as though it was perfect. Even the framers themselves, know that the Constitution is nowhere near perfection. Also, the framers meant to allow for the Constitution's interpretations to change with society, Ron Paul seems to disregard this. I am huge supporter of the Constitution. And yes, Bush has pretty much done everything short of ripping up the constitution itself. But, keeping the same interpretation as the 1700's is like pretending that we still live in the 1700's. No, our domestic threats are much, much different. Think of all the technological advances and social changes.

And don't you think it's a little hypocritical that Dr. Paul is the biggest advocate for small, no tiny government, but he also wants the government to intervene and stop a woman's right to choose? And, no I am not talking about drafting or even changing the constitution, just its interpretation, to move it up to the 21st century.

WHAT? YOU ARE MISINFORMED. Ron Paul says it's the states' decision, not the Federal Governments. I think you may have misinterpreted "state". While he is personally against it, he does NOT think the federal government should intervene with a "woman's right to choose"...

The reason abortions are legal is because the federal government decided that a human fetus is not a "Person". What if the federal government decides that blacks aren't people? Would you support white people "Having the right to choose" if blacks live or die? The Second Amendment guarantees the First Amendment. Your right to bear arms is about guarding against tyranny - not hunting. The Republican and Democratic Parties have taken increasingly tyrannical positions - especially this latest President Bush. I don't see Fred Thompson standing up against the "unitary executive" theories espoused by the current President, so I have no trust in his pandering to "the Second Amendment crowd".

My trips to the range are so routine that it's never considered an "event" or an "appearance". When I ran for Lt. Governor of Ohio in 2006, my opponents made big shows of taking the class to obtain a concealed handgun permit. It was never mentioned that my wife and I, as NRA Pistol Instructors, were qualified to teach the class. Compare Fred to Ron Paul on gun issues.

I know Freds position on the Second by checking several sources and as a certified Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor, who doesn't take a back seat to anyone on the entire Bill of Rights, my opinion is that Fred is so far and above Paul on ALL subjects that there is no comparison possible.

Where Paul believes in isolationism, legalizing drugs and is on the fringe on so many other subjects I hardly know where to begin.

I definitely agree with you. On both sides the candidate that is strongest with their base will be the front runner. It's just where America is going, in that both parties are becoming more and more divided. Unfortunately most of the current candidates and either anti-gun or leaning that way. I hope Fred changes that, but I think he will.
