@lentai1 it depends on how good your technique is. some teachers may put you with younger girls to you can learn the technique well and then advance you as your technique improves!

yeah i follow rad but I had that doubt. Actually, there are 2 types of examinations. vocational and graded examinations.

This means that professional levels start from intermediate foudation all the way to advanced 2. grades 1-8 are graded examinations, which are the basics. Grade 6 is not inter foundation. :)

it doesnt matter what age you are at any grade? intermediate is really high you know. i'm 12 and i am doing this!!! this person is 19 and her age really shows as she is like 1000 times better than me. so before you say things you should think! 30 year olds are doing this?! just coz you 'm8' is doing it doesnt mean everyone else in this world id bad?

NO i think it isn't. I saw dancers doing it, and they were from Intermediate. Not intermediate foundation. Intermediate is higher.

hey that's good!! distinction...i had 77 points in my grade 4 exam, and that was actually pretty easy compared to what we do in grade 5 and 6. how difficult must intermediate be?

i heard that you have to learn several dances for intermediate exam and show them...and if you don't get a certain amount of points at only one dance, you fail- is that right?

Thanks!!! Well, Intermediate is a really tecnical exam, and you have to show your tecnique in your performance! What about amount of points at only one dance, i never heard about it. You have to get great notes in all exercises do get a great note.

i think that's the intermediate before they changed the syllabus. :P because the intermediate now is easy. back in my teacher's time they had to do 26 fouette pirouettes en pointe in intermediate :S

Wow, you dance this beautifully! I'm 14 and I'm on ISTD Intermediate. I've never done RAD, although I hear it's more about technique, where as ISTD is more free work and performance based. What did you get for this grade?

Well done :) I loved this dance! thought it was very hard to find the staminer to keep going! :) i am in grade six but have just taken my intermediate examination, taking me to advanced foundation. I find that the grades are more performing whereas the majors are more about technique? I was 12 when i took my inter-foundation and 14 when i took my intermediate last year. I had to have 6months off for injury inbetween :( I hope you enjoy the majour exams as much as i do! :)

Yeah! I love the Major Examinations... Particulary Advanced 1. I didn't do yet, but i've been practicing last year. It's awesome. This year i'm gonna do the Advanced Foudation. =]

Hi!!! Grade 6 isn't intermediate fondation. Grade 6 makes part of seniors grades and still have the 7th and 8th Grades. Here in Brasil, in my ballet school, we do until the 6th grade and after we start the Major Exams that begins with Intermediate Foundation. (sorry about the english) =]

What? No! Sorry, but it's not true. The Royal Academy of Dance has 2 kinds of exams: the seniors (1st to 8th grades) and majors (inter. foundation, advanced, etc.). In some schools the students just learn until 6th or 7th grades, then skip to the intermediate fondation. Maybe your principal said that you'll learn until 7th grade and after you will skip to the intermediate foudation.

The inter foudation is a little bit easier then intermediate. But what is more requested in intermediate foudation is the tecnique, must be strong and secure. You have nothing to worry about. In 2007 i had the best grade between the girls in my class... Intermediate foundation isn't that easy, but very beautiful. You'll love it!

Oh, hi! I already made this exam. I did it in Oct. 2008 and I get an Distinction for my performance. You daughter is very young for this exam, but she has quality to do this exam, absolutly. It's not too hard, but you have to dedicate yourself a lot. Than you very much!

Hi. How old are you then? She just turned 11 and there is a minimum age of 13 for taking the Intermediate exam. She could maybe get away with it if she were 12 .5 ? She did her Inter Foundation at 10.5 but at just 11 she wouldn't be allowed to take it. Shame as she is probably ready for the exam now! Meantime, she is working on Advanced 1 and 2 stuff until she can take Inter. xxx

Are you in the UK? Did your teacher have to seek permission from the RAD? I know they sometimes let you take it early if you are almost at the minimum age. Best of luck with it. My daughter, sadly, would not get away with doing it yet as she is not even 12 for a long time!

Hi there. Unless the rules have changed in the last year this is not accurate info you have been given. The minimum age to site Intermediate is 12 years, however you only need to be 12 years of age by 31st December the year you sit, so technically you can sit Intermediate as an 11 year old. The minimum age for Advanced Foundation is 13 years, but again technically you can sit as a 12 year old. All the info is on the RAD UK website.

Hi! Thank you for the compliment. That piece of the test I leraned about 1 month or more... I have been dancing since 1998, but I started to learn RAD in 2001. I started a little bit late and I made many grades toguether. Now, I'm in the Advanced Foudation and I want to continue the examinations until the end!

hey there, this IS elementary RAD, it's now called RAD INTERMEDIATE though, for some stupid reason :) they changed it, couldn't leave well enough alone :)
