Sometimes, change through force will never succeed, especially if they know their playing field, your tactics, and have beat other foces before.

VC held out but didn't 'kick our ass' as you say. The US didn't lose one fire fight. Yes, sometimes change via force will fail and history is a fine instrument to measure success.
