  • This video hurts my soul... I mean, don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with old style American horsepower, but this engine does not belong in anything even remotely resembling a Lamborghini. Next time, buy an old Camaro or something. Anyone with half a brain can recognize this as a replica, and I suspect you are going to take a lot of crap for this build.

  • there is a luxury tax of 25% on anything over 390 HP. Or something to that effect.

  • I must know what the Horse powers is.

  • Also, the modern 4.6L "northstar" Is an Oldsmobile aurora motor, based on the 3.5L Intrigue motor, based on the 2.3L Quad 4. Which originated as a 2k HP 2.0L 4cyl. and took the world closed circuit track record back in 1984, previously held my Benz from a record in '75. Which yes, also means all you chevy nuts on your "ecotech"...Your running an Oldsmobile, now go cry. Check out my Achieva beating on a camaro.

  • W-42. Short stroke limited production 455 Olds. Claimed 390 HP stock, real world dyno'ed at 575HP, 1200 torque at 6700 RPM. Redlined on shift 1-2, 2-3 at 9500 RPM, clocked at the mid-ohio back straight, 186 MPH, 4800 RPM on 2.08:1 gear, and still had pedal left, through street exhaust and street G60 rubber. Allow me to introduce you to a 1968 Hurst Olds. I've owned 2, bought new, and the one I just told you about even had factory A/C. Learn before you talk. BTW Olds "rocket" started in '49.

  • @ftlindust

back in the day (1968) manufacturers couldn't advertise more HP than Cubic Inches for some odd reason. almost like it was taboo. anyway not uncommon for those old motors to have lower numbers than are true.

  • Awesome, and sounds good. I'd love to see some tire smoke from the mirror of it. The light weight has to make that move well if it's geared right. ;-)

  • Open the garage door, the exhaust will kill you. Nice car in every way though!

  • id go look for a 425 it has twice the rpms of a 455 so cannonblunt can be quiet

  • @cobraopts7 Maybe you could explain that being possible to us? The 425's stroke is not all that different than the 455. Certainly not enough to warrant twice the RPMs. They have the forged crank yes, but twice the RPMs, sorry but no.

  • @Rampant7990 what i meant was the 425 rocket was the best racing engine that oldsmobile ever built it maxed safely out to 8500 to 9000 rpms like the chevy 427 the 455 rocket max safe rpm is 5500 no it doesnt have twice the rpms but it almost does making it a better choice to put in a lambo but a 425 has older style lifters making it rev higher and it had a completely different cam to

  • Comment removed

  • @cobraopts7 Don't join any racing forums & claiming this. Rotating forces in even the best built olds small blocks can come apart after 6000 to 6500 RPM maybe not right away, if it's in top fresh condition. Certain year 425's bigger lifters increased ramp speed on the lobes. for more power, not RPMs. No magic RPM increase. The experimental Olds Hemi Can Am engine with dual overhead cams could reach almost 8500 rpm & never reached production. You need oiling & other mods 4 say 6000 rpm safely.

  • @CaNNonBlunT do you know anything about engines? the reason i ask is your comment seems pretty ignorant. the Countach LP5000 S with it's 5.1/5.2L V12 was only pushing out 375 bhp @ 8000 rpm and 302 ft lbs @ 5200 rpm. this 455 if built to W-30 specs can easily put 455hp to the pavement (which usually translates to 500hp+ @ the crank easily) with over 500ft/lbs of torque all day and never miss a beat. this 455 can more than get it up to speed and then some.

  • a strong 455 in stock form with that light car would be very quick!!! and with a couple mods be "scary" wouldnt take much. so dont let anyone tell you that thing is slow or a bad choice weather you put in or not? 0 to 60 and watch em suck up the seat and start whinning...

  • @deannaber all the torque that 455 puts out, probably have to really reinforce the rear end to keep from twisting the frame

  • @DJM442 I think your right ! also a car like that is much more fun with an engine that revs ...

  • @deannaber for sure, who doesn't love to hear a high-revving engine? but when you can get more power, torque, and reliability it's easy to see why a 455 was chosen. also, those Olds 455's aren't your typical run of the mill big-block V8's. The Olds, Buick, and Pontiac 455's are made with a higher nickel content and if you treat them well are practically indestructible.

  • just curious why you went with the olds 455 and not a chevy 350...becides the obvious tranny setup you could go with with the 455...the chevy 350 would have more parts available to up the oomph easily but not compromise the original body style with that beast of a hood

  • @SebastianLong

I didn't build it, but I had to fix all of the original builder's "shortcuts." I suspect they went with the 455 for the ease of the build. The rear suspension is almost entirley a stock toronado front with the steering locked. The giant hood scoop is also purely cosmetic, it wasn't needed to clear the engine, and doesn't help keep the engine any cooler.

  • @SebastianLong Everyone uses 350s that would be my guess.

  • @SebastianLong So many chevy guys are still misinformed as to the availability of hi perf Olds parts. Why? If you say this you have never built an Olds engine before on your own. All the parts don't have to be hi $ either. The 455's are torque monsters, cheap, and parts are everywhere plus you have the obvious trans axle to boot. They are still in a ton of RVs, boats, and cars, for a reason. BTW, I'd love to know what parts are unavailable for an Olds 455.

  • @SebastianLong everyone puts chevy 350's in everything, its nice to see something different for a change.

  • is it a kit or a real lambo if real very cool

  • @CaNNonBlunT i disagree its all about the trans mission and gear ratios a chevy small bock with twins turbos went 300mph in a 80s model firebird

  • @CaNNonBlunT 455 engines can go like 170/190 mph

  • @CrazyForCooCooPuffs go learn about cars and engines before you start talking.

a 350 chevy can do 250mph IF it has enough HP and it has a properly setup drivetrain behind it and of course the car has to be able to be controled but SIZE and POWER don't mean alot for speed until you really get up there.

I mean the real Muscle cars of the 70's could only do like 100-120 mph BUT this was mostly due to the fact that they only had a 4-speed as soon as you drop a 6-speed in with good gearing your set

  • @TheWolfpire SORRY CUNT....anyways why are you fucking arguing with a guy that's on your side

  • @CrazyForCooCooPuffs if it's no big deal then how come you act like someone just questioned your masculinity? (just an example of how bad you just overreacted) i mean if you had some self confidence you would have been oh ok sure whatever but you went apeshit and pretty much just told everyone here you dont know shit you just like to think you do and talk big but can't back it up so,

go have fun being an asshole, esspecialy considering i wass trying to help youi learn something

  • @TheWolfpire yup totally agree

  • @CaNNonBlunT ya never no but i would still rather have this car than a normal one

  • @CaNNonBlunT

You could very easily get the same amount of HP or more out of an Olds 455 and with far superior low end torque. The highest output Countaches had about 450hp which is very easy for a 7.5 liter V8 to obtain. The Lambo V12 will rev higher though.

  • @CaNNonBlunT

Engines have very little to do with top speed. i can make a 1hp briggs take a lambo to 300 hp. Its all about gearing.

  • @hankeybillfred Didnt mean HP. meant MPH. sorry.

  • @hankeybillfred if thats the case...why dont the environazis use that idea and keep the hp ratings in check...you can get better gas mileage out of a 1 cylinder lawnmower motor than you can out of anything they put in a car...damn environazis want gas mileage...theres their fuckin answer...and that can leave the rest of us happy when we still got our classic v-8 motors

  • @SebastianLong Exactly..... Environmentalists need to learn about gearing.

  • BRILLIANT! That sounds so much better than the stock lambo engine to me. Way more intimidating .

  • @CaNNonBlunT That depends on the gearbox and transmission. it could bring it as fast with a good one, and for much less prize... yet its heavy, and that will affect handling.

  • @CaNNonBlunT acually dude not really just put a real high gear and it can still do the same speed, hell i bet that 455 has more hp then the original lambo

  • if you built the 455 right you could get the same top speed as a normal lambo, it would cost big bucks but it would be worth it. you could drop in ford and chevy internals into an olds 455 and it would slam the compression up to about 14 to 1 making some serious horsepower

  • HA!! thats badass!!!!

  • I had a 72 cutlass 442 W-30 love the 455 I dug quite a few holes in blacktop with it and took a lot of money from people who thought that big boat couldnt get the job done one of the sweetest engines ever made just keep it cooled well(large radiator and 2 elec fans it gets hot sitting still , elec waterpump) 0-140 you shouldent have a problem with anything passing you

  • That kicks so much ass dude!

  • Awesome

  • @CaNNonBlunT : So, blow it, build it... You can get 1200HP out of one of those for not much work.

  • That looks terrible.

  • is this a countach replica? doesnt sound like a real lambo

  • it says kit car in the description

  • Comment removed

  • learn to type...

  • Olds made Lamborghini? just kidding

  • sounds like a truck

  • Northstar 4.6 with cai and good exhaust would be a better choice for fiero frame kit car. 4.6 bolt right up and good for 350hp easily

  • NorthStar's actually put out 230HP and 300 ib-ft of torque. The Toronado 455 puts out 325HP and 450 ib-ft of Torque. The only reason people use the Cadillac NorthStars is because they're plentiful, and the bolt pattern is identical to the 2.8L found in a Fiero. The engine he has there however would embarass a NorthStar any day of the week.

  • its 275 for the basic model and for the etc eldorado and sts seville its 300hp on the northstar 4.6 v8.

  • how would you know what a real engine is?

go brush your teeth before your mom catches you online again.

  • Comment removed

  • You do realize the 455 Olds and the Lambourghini 5.5L put out the same level of torque, right? And I'm assuming you're well aware of the fact the 455 Olds can be tuned up to ungodly power figures and still not break, whereas the Lambo peaks out at around 850HP before it becomes unruly.

Please, do some research before you embarass yourself.

  • if you have the money to build/get the engine then im sure you have the money to be able to afrod to go on a track or drag course

  • get a kick ass tranny and a blower and maybe not

  • Yup, but for $90,000 less, unless you're made of money it's worth the trade off.

  • nice, american muscle for an italian style frame.

  • And why not put in a BMW v12 ?

  • @JeffTanko And when will you ever be going top speed on a real lambo? lol

  • @JeffTanko It`s not as if a 455 is a crap engine,it has tons of torque an HP and it`s endlessly tuneable.

  • the original engine has a better sound.

    nothing like this

  • This car is like a transvestite.. You see a beautiful woman, but then she opens her mouth and you look under the hood to find something is just not right.

  • yeah.. but this is better...

  • Yeah but at least you can get parts at the local store to keep it in tune.

  • Great Point! And get 'em cheap too!

  • Transvestites look good to you ?...Wtf.

  • kinda a funny idea tho def unique...no one else has one haha

  • there is one thing wrong with the car: the shell is not an olds 442.

  • Nor should the shell be an Olds 442 as this motor is not an Olds 442. It's an Olds 455 from a Trans Am.

  • now it's getting complicated...wasn't the 455 T/A a Pontiac engine?

  • Yeah, that was my mistake, the mid 70s Trans Ams were optioned with an Olds 403.

  • thanks for clarifying

  • The 455 Big Block that the Trans Am used was actually originally derived from the Toronado, which was put together by Buick`s hands. I know, GM is a skank when it comes to figuring out who`s stuff is who's. lol

  • The 455 in the trans am wasn't an olds, it was pontiac

  • your dumb

  • Comment removed

  • Not all 455 TA (Trans-Am) engines are pontiac some are other GM 455's.

  • You're thinking of the Olds 403 that went into auto trans T/As. The last 455 of '76 was a Pontiac block.

  • @mustangcharger NO! olds last year was 76 as well

  • Oldsmobile Cutlass/442's were optioned with something called a Rocket 455 as well.

  • i love how the torq makes the doors twitch

  • is the motor mounted in the rear? If so is it using a toranado set up

  • Yes, on comment page 3, I stated that it is a toronado drivetrain mounted in the rear.

  • it looks like somthing off of star wars!

  • This is the car.. that every kid had in a frame on the wall!!

love that car!! ill swap my drag any day if you want?

  • Why such a short video, where is the video of this thing driving down the road or from different angles and all, is somethign wrong with it?

  • There were ALOT of things wrong with this car. It was a poorly designed kit that looked goofy from any angle other than the rear. It was VERY poorly built, it was brought to me because it was unsafe and undrivable. I got it safe, driving, and running ok, but I still wouldn't want to spend much time in it.

  • I'd drive it!!!

  • BLACK SMOKE AJUST CARBS

  • IT's running so rich MY eyes are watering!

  • old muscle rules!!!!!

  • it's wrong wrong wrong!!!

  • can u even get a kit car titled? i know you could if u use an old frame, but what if it was a custom built frame?

  • To title a ground up custom, you need to have it inspected by your state's DMV, usually the State Patrol does the inspection. If it doesn't meet the regulations, you fail and then have a chance to fix whatever didn't pass. This particular car is loosly based on a Fiero, so I believe it still has the Fiero's title.

  • tyvm for your answer. i have been thinking about building a '65 mustang fastback kit car as a weekend driver.

  • Of course you can... it can be titled as a hand built car - not hard, just check the requirements before you start your build.

  • wtf?

  • nice... american muscle on a fibreglass body

  • im not a fan of lamby kit cars but i love the 455

  • Better turn the acc pumps down! :)

  • if i ever get to b a millionaire {currently in single occasionaly double digits} id build a replica of hairy olds 4 wheel drive 1000 hp apiece twin engine toronado

  • When you hit the throttle the doors wiggle around. Dont take it personally, but it looks a little flimsy to me.

  • This is a car we had at work for repairs, not my personal vehicle. You're right, it is a fairly low quality kit

  • That engine has so much torque the doors were moving, LOVE IT.

  • a 455 will shake any car doors.

  • The doors are not shaking. They are wiggling like spaggetti. They should not wiggle.

  • How do you mean?

  • the car was origialy an italian car and all italian cars is spagetti!!hahaha

  • It is Toronado, the whole front clip was put in back and the steering locked in place.

  • That is crazy....That is sick....man I luv it!

  • sounds like a old ass truck

  • YUP,Smokes like a GM!!!lol

  • Is that hooked up to a Toronado drivetrain?

  • Yes.

  • umm it's a 455 olds not buick or pontiac and no they didnt use the same engines back then each car dealer had their own this is to blown 55061

  • The 455 Buick was a torque monster. It would decimate a V12 countach any day of the week. But as much as I love bigblock V8's the v12 sounds much cooler!

  • your all idots a v12 lambo would kill any v6 nissan anyday anywhere.

  • 68ChargerMdM ur an idiot there is noway a v6 pussy nissan could win against a v12 countach and by the way learn to spell u idiot

  • Your an idiot, those Nissan Patrols in some cases are faster than any Lamborghini built

  • man that is an amazing car american v8's are way better than the lambo v12's

  • no v12's are betta man lambos all de waiii!!!! and dun ask y cuz dats how i think!!!!! soo sush and lamnbos all de waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!! peace up!!

  • ya right i have seen a video of a v6 nissan patrol kicking a lombos ass labos suck they just look sexy the engines are crap LOL

  • Lambo Murcielago LP640 v12= 612 hp, nissan v6=200 hp if lucky. Nissan v6 that can beat lambo= price tag for modifications that could have just bought you the Lambo. Duh. American v8s are awesome, but you can't argue here stock vs stock, pound for pound, the v12 massacres the v8, for the same reason the 8 massacres the inline 4, it has 4 more cylinders.

  • the Murcielago has a 6.5liter v12 engine and the olds 455 is a 7.5 liter. Just because it has more cylinders doesn't mean its better. "pound for pound" the 455 has more displacement

  • Go to howstuffworks dot com and read the article on the bugatti veyron, it will explain how more displacement basically makes up for lack of cylinders thus by having more, its the same effect as having a huge displ. motor of fewer cylinders. I don't have enough room to explain it properly here so please see that article.

  • Tiderasso, I already know that I just don't like foreign cars.I just don't see the point in more cylinders when a V8 can make just as much power twin turbocharged.

  • Nissan Patrol, isnt that an SUV? Anyhow that doesnt mean Lambos suck dummy, it means the Nissan has been modified like hell. You have to be ignorant to say a stock 640 hp engine sucks. What did your car bring stock? I have a GTR and Ill be the first to tell you Ill need alot more mods before I can tangle with a Lambo.

  • i suppose you are right i just hate japanese and euro cars am am an ignorant ass hole whene it comes to cars i am just used to american cars sorry

  • Wow, I am not saying all that, Im american too and american motors are awesome! 454 Hemi anyone?

  • I actually like the scoop. Buick, Pontiac, and Oldsmobile each made a different 455 engine based on each company's respective block/architecture. They all have slightly different bore/stroke, and ALL are torque monsters. Even though that auto is only a 3 speed, that engine has so much torque it doesn't matter. With a cam, headers, intake, and 850cfm carb, it could WAX a "real" Countach

  • thats what im talking about best of both worlds

  • Toronado drivetrain,I would assume??? Nice,it's very different.

  • thats pretty unique

  • strange fucking combo.. I dig it!

  • love that car

  • Thats different

  • is that a pontiac engine?

  • its ok but i dont like that big dome it has on the back

  • I think he put the dome on it to clear the tall 455 engine. Maybe.

  • yea, and it looks cool... well not really, it looks STUPID and the kids will laugh and point and the old man playing pretend.

  • thats why its prolly called a project car, not a daily driver...
