this might sound weird, but i really felt that his fully flared part screamed skateboarding to me. the way that it went against what everyone else on the team was doing, it wasn't all fancy, i mean like, everyone else used planes as a mode of transport, all he had was a skateboard. i mean showing someone skate they're local spots just shows what they're skateboarding is like

I'm fine with the cop stereotype, it shows that cops understand us. Most of us started skating because they don't feel satisfied with everyones trip, like football or something. We wanted to seperate ourselves from everyone else. Most people like that are smartasses and probably a little delinquent haha. The stereotype makes sense.
