Aaliyah's performance was awesome. She made a great Akasha, love Townsend, too. You can not compare Interview with the Vampire's Lestat to him in The Quuen of the DAmned. One is Louis' version and the other IS Lestat. Townsend wouldn't of been good as Louis' version, but excellent as his own. The movie can not live up to the book, no matter what. Like a lot of people say, the music is the best thing about it. They changed too many things: twins dah!. Marius didn't make Lestat, etc, etc

Thought "If Akasha is from Egypt she obviously would be a person of color. So he decided to cast Aaliyah for the part, but he did get Anne Rice's Okay. If you buy the DVD....

This movie is terrible. How could they change Lestat's maker from Magnus to Marius? How could they rearrange and change details of Anne Rice's incredibly creative and beautiful story? And above all, HOW COULD THEY MAKE LESTAT'S MUSIC SOUND LIKE KORN??? I turned it off as soon as Lestat started describing how he was made.
simple, queen of the damned is loaded with characters that wouldn't fit in 2hrs. so everyone go and read the book. it's awesome, all those vampire fanatics like me (except with the twilight movie, loved the FIRST BOOK though, just the book) read it. it has detailed hypothetical explanation as to how vampires are created and why are they all HOT and BEAUTIFUL... anne rice is really awesome!!

Interview totally got the characters, emotion and setting right. This atrocity was made to get a quick buck out of goth teenies and condensed two good novels into crap.

it is NOTHING like the book...at all...it tries to combine The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned into a single movie, takes away all of the charm, wit and humanity of the first, leaves out all of the mysticism of the second. It's slick but has no substance. If you want to watch it to oggle at Stewart Townsend and Aliyah, it's worth it, (they make it watch-able they're both VERY pretty vampires!!) but if you're looking for anything even remotely like VC, this isn't it

I liked this movie before I read Queen of the damned. I haven't seen the movie once since I read the book, it's just so utterly disappointing. It feels like the movies only based of a few chapters of the book, and what they actually put into the movie is basically wrong. What even happened to the ledgend of the twins. If recall correcly they weren't even mentioned in the movie.

I agree, any movie about real vampires that have fangs and that aren't "vegetarian" is a whole lot better than twilight. Edward does not have anything on Lestat! Anyway..I remember when the trailor for QOTD first came out :D I though it was so cool, and it still remains one of my favorire movies today.
If only they had actually followed the story in Queen of the Damned this movie would have been so much better, the novel itself is beyond amazing to me, just like Interview with the Vampire how the story lines goes with the story, but i was kinda disappointed when i saw the movie, i was so confused at the time as to why so many changes but oh well, all i know is that no one can ever be compared to Anne Rice nor her novvels.

This movie tries to combine a bit of "the Vampire Lestat" into "the Queen of the Damned," in terms of the book content. And though it is a good movie, it's does not follow the book so much. They take a lot of interpretative liberties with this movie.

If you want to watch it to oggle at Stewart Townsend and Aliyah, it's worth it, (they make it watch-able they're both VERY pretty vampires!!) but if you're looking for anything even remotely like VC, this isn't it

every one who is thinking of tracing this movie down and whatching it do so it comes toe to toe with interveiw witha vampire also the love between the vampire and human is much more sinister than twilight the emotion is almost not there but the hint that is is very powerful

While I hate that the movie didn't really follow any of the book ( I was disapointed by that) I can say the music was awesome, Stuart Townsend is awesome, and Aaliyah R.I.P) was amazing. The movie was ok enough that I'd watch it again just cuz of the reasons I mentioned b4

I liked this movie before I read Queen of the damned. I haven't seen the movie once since I read the book, it's just so utterly disappointing. It feels like the movies only based of a few chapters of the book, and what they actually put into the movie is basically wrong. What even happened to the ledgend of the twins. If recall correcly they weren't even mentioned in the movie.

Honestly, I AM NOT A TWILIGHT FAN, I AM A HUGE FAN OF ANNE RICE, Author of The Queen of the Damned--and this movie mutilated and destroyed her work so much that I'd rather favor Twilight than watch this pathetic failed film. If you guys read the Vampire Chronicles and like this film, man you guys seriously need to get your heads out of your guys asses because this film destroyed her novel. Bad casting, horrible actors, horrible script,, and this film was a box office failure.

I agree, any movie about real vampires that have fangs and that aren't "vegetarian" is a whole lot better than twilight. Edward does not have anything on Lestat! Anyway..I remember when the trailor for QOTD first came out :D I though it was so cool, and it still remains one of my favorire movies today.

If only they had actually followed the story in Queen of the Damned this movie would have been so much better, the novel itself is beyond amazing to me, just like Interview with the Vampire how the story lines goes with the story, but i was kinda disappointed when i saw the movie, i was so confused at the time as to why so many changes but oh well, all i know is that no one can ever be compared to Anne Rice nor her novvels.

This movie tries to combine a bit of "the Vampire Lestat" into "the Queen of the Damned," in terms of the book content. And though it is a good movie, it's does not follow the book so much. They take a lot of interpretative liberties with this movie.
