This was a waste of time. First of all, I've made apple sauce with red delicious and it was...well, delicious. 8 hours? Are you joking? Simmer in shallow water for about 30 minutes (depending on size) and drain. Then you can either mush it up manually or run it through a food processor.

Just the apples. Now if you want to add some water (I usually don't in the crockpot), it's OK depending upon the kind of apple. But no more than a cup. Cider and apple juice works well, too for the liquid. ~ Rita
8 hours to cook? Are you kidding me? Pork shoulder will be dry dead by then!

I have some very young small fallen green apples from my garden. I do not want to throw them. Can they be used for this sauce?

Some people like to use lemon juice; others, like you, don't. Either way works.

How to make apple sauce in 5 easy steps.
Step 1: Get some fresh apples.
Step 2: Cut them up
Step 3: Throw cut pieces into blender
Step 4: Blend until it looks like apple sauce
Step 5: Pour into a bowl or something to eat with and enjoy.

I LOVE APPLE SAUCE. I use Granny Smith green apples. So you just set the apples in the crockpot and leave it in for 8 hours?

So do you poor all the contents of the bowl in the pot (apples & water) or just the apples? If all, about how much water?
