Still hanging out at Tims and the local parks, its high time to get the fuck outta your parents home so you can smoke dope and drink indoors, fer fuck sakes.
When I was young I thought Welland was cool, but once I went to College and moved to civilization I do not think I could ever live there again, nothing to do... the city really sucks now
true, but the saying in welland is that, you either grow up to be one of two things. A hockey player or a musician. I personally like music more than hockey, and my band (formed in welland) is recording our first album, but that saying goes for everyone. All my friends are hockey players, and im the musician of the group. Personally, i think welland is the hotbed for starting bands. Street Pharmasy and the Snips came out of here.
great documentary. was born in welland and moved away when i was young. I still visit family a few times a year and love the pace of life in the big W. The city's changed so much since I've moved and it's a sad thing. keep up your good work. there's obviously talent and it's just a matter of time before people realize it and support it.
same here. So good luck and keep supporting live music! From what I can see, you are 1,000,000 steps ahead of us. (P.S.- If I ever make it big enough to tour, I will definitely be coming to your town. Seems to me like the kids just love and are passionate about art.) (PPS.- I posted on both videos. I know. lol)
I don't even live anywhere near Canada, and I feel for the musicians. Being from a small town, I know how hard it is and how people want to kind of shut down the areas to play at. Which I sort of understand. My town has an overabundance of shitty hardcore bands. But when good bands come along, they are forced to move away to be seen and heard. The fact you are trying to show that these people want to play in your town and keep art alive there as well is a great step. We are trying to do the
I personally do not like it here. A good number of Wellanders are junkies , out looking for a fix , Or saying stuff like ''Hey I am bored lets get crunked''!! Or,'' this weed is chron''. Seriously thats pretty much all there is to do here. If you met some of the people here i have, you will see what i mean. So leave before you become one!!
very good documentary and I agree Welland is very talented. street pharmacy made a comment "lack of venues" , heard the park theatre re-opening fell through, that would an amazing venue if we could pull thrugh together and get it opened.
i'd think this is the most musically talented town in the world....i mean every one plays something, drums/guitar/piano etc. Just a great place with soo little things to do...
I agree completely with almost everything that was said in both videos. Welland needs somewhere for our massive amount of artistic talents to be showcased. I think out of everything welland has it's our unbelievable amount of artistic talents that really sculpt us into the city we are, and could be. I remember a point where sometimes once or twice a week looking forword to going to a show, whether we were playing in it or supporting other local bands. There was never(very rarely)any competition.
Each band was always having a great time and really just playing music to have a good time. Like you said once the ball get's rolling it won't stop anytime soon. I was wondering, what was the response you got from the council once they saw the video and after you spoke about it?
I just realized I didn't mention this in either of the above comments but the film was VERY well done! I greatly enjoyed it. I love welland, and this shows exactly why.
The success of ATTACK IN BLACK is the culmination of GENERATIONS of Welland talent that have come out of the ND battle of the bands, Oddfellows and mean streets of the East Side... I think every Wellander is glad to FINALLY see one of our own getting recognition...
Welland always has had a tremendously talented music culture... if only we weren't so destructive, we'd still have somewhere to play! But then, would we still be Wellanders??
So many familiar faces in this! Well done video Peter. Always been a fan of your work. I hope you can make it big one day. Cheers mate.
