I've been DYING to get up there but the one guy I usually go with is apparently too busy. I can go more than twice as often as he can - but I don't have anyone else to go with.
We MAY finally get up there next weekend, but it's a disgrace how long it's been since I've been to the Adirondacks considering how much I love to get there.
Anyhow - crampons - did you find them vital to hike Haystack, or would aggressive snowshoes do the trick? I have MSR Denalis.

Haha, sorry my friend. I can't really be blamed, though! I hear ya on the friends part, seems to be a problem much of the time.
I didn't find them essential, two guys ahead of us did it without them, but they sure were helpful!!! It would have been much harder without them.
