@gmceburns I believe that there are a bunch of advantages to fishing cones vs. split. Here's 3: First, the cone rests against the fly when casting, which eliminates the hinge effect. This makes the cones easier to cast then split shot, so no "hard-hat" needed. Second the cone slides freely on the leader, which gives a nice jig-effect to the fly resulting in more chases and hook ups. Lastly, since the cone is not pinched on the leader, you can feel confident that the system is intact. Good luck.
