ok i see what happened... the cat must have chased him into the woods, lost him for just a second and he eather got distracted or he stepped to close without seeing the snake and it bit him on the neck... i believe the way the poor thing died and feel free to disagree its just a theroy but i think instead of dying because of poison i think he died from having his air cut off and choking to death. its my understanding that cats have a resistence to venom...

Honestly my cat brought me one day a little rattlesnake which was a baby and potentially as Venomous or more and she never was bitten but in my area they don't appear at all as much plus my cat is an excellent hunter.
If you care about your cats at all, PLEASE KEEP THEM INDOORS! Then you don't have to worry about them getting bitten by snakes, run over by cars, poisoned, killed by dogs or tortured and killed by psycho cat haters.

The Taipans and Black Tiger snakes are more north Queensland.We found a carpet python at work just the other week,,Usually come across a snake atleast a couple times a month.Most of them slither away,Except the Brown snakes,They are angry little buggers are difficult to chase away.

I'm sorry about your kitten. I think it's tougher to watch a young pet die than one who lived a full life. I have never wept for a pet who died of old age, but I still cry for the yearlings I've lost over the years. You work with an animal and it shows so much promise. when i was in pre k, my mom got me a kitty and i named it daisy. then the day we got it we went to the vet and it was a boy but i still wanted to call him daisy then like a month later he was either dead or ran away. i think he ran away cuz he didnt like his name; still 2 this day :(
that is a strange place to have a bite...if you look at the fang holes..they are flat on the neck which would have meant the cat was on its side..or it wasnt from a snake..it does look similar to a tarantula bite but they are bigger....im saying whatever did that..may not have been a snake

Doesn't have any marks except for his bleeding ear so I think he got bitten by a snake there.

I keep pet snakes, I'm the guy in the neighborhood that people call when they find a hurt snake.
I have seen a number of snakes damaged or killed by cats.
Most snakes are not venomous, and can not defend themselves properly.
Snakes are good to have around your yard.
If you have them, you also have rodents.
The snakes are killing rodents that carry disease.

If you have Red Belly Black Snakes you must live in Eastern Australia; and you also have Black Tiger Snakes, and Taipans.
All of which I would avoid.
The Pythons could make nice pets, but I think it’s against the law over there to catch wild snakes.

@M9ACE i agree but how would you let it kill a pet, you could've at least took a stick and moved the snake then pick up the cat and bring it in. but i really don't condone the idea of killing an animal for being an animal. its just wrong

@scandmx5atl Snakes DO NOT reason. They have 5 primal functions like any other reptile. Eat, reproduce, do not get eaten, shit, wait. Mammals or for that matter, humans have many functions. Like knowing you shouldn't get behing the wheel and drive while you are drunk. In all the time I've spent with my snakes never once has one seemed affectionate. They only know the five function. I don't smell/taste like food, it can't reproduce with me, It's not threatened, I've been shit on, I put it down.5

You should keep cats inside. They're much safer. One time we found our calico, Starburst, under the front porch. We lured her out. When we got inside, almost as soon as we shut the door, a fox went under, clearly smelling her, hoping for a meal. I couldn't stand it if I found my cat dead...

when i was in pre k, my mom got me a kitty and i named it daisy. then the day we got it we went to the vet and it was a boy but i still wanted to call him daisy then like a month later he was either dead or ran away. i think he ran away cuz he didnt like his name; still 2 this day :(

that is a strange place to have a bite...if you look at the fang holes..they are flat on the neck which would have meant the cat was on its side..or it wasnt from a snake..it does look similar to a tarantula bite but they are bigger....im saying whatever did that..may not have been a snake

Yes, as an expert in Herpetology a rattlesnake would not strike at the side of the face i will agree with this one.I will also add that from my sisters view of this, she is a 4 year vet, she agrees that it was a cat fight.
