Wow I didn't know it caught fire. That's a shame. I ate at KC BBQ back in 1987 and I remember they really played up the whole Top Gun thing. Was pretty cool and the food was excellent!

I'm from Kansas city and I used to cook BBQ there at one of the famous local BBQ joints...Then I was stationed in San Diego as an Airman on North Island and used to eat at this place allot back in the 80's and early 90's ...The world is full of coincidence? I don't think so....

It is Halloween and the KCBBQ is almost ready to reopen. It should be only a few more weeks. Martin and Cindy and the guys are doing a GREAT JOB renovating. Thank you to all involved in the rebuilding. I can't wait to get back behind the bar serving the greatest customers in the world.

I think Martin and Cindy (the owners) are considering it, but nothing definitive yet.

They're TOTALLY rebuilding. They even have a sign out front that says "Rumors of our death have been greatly exaggerated. We'll be back as soon as we can!" They're having Thirsty Thursday every, well, Thursday from 5pm to 7pm to raise funds to help employees and generally help rebuild. Just solo cups and beer. And they have partially charred KC BBq T-shirts that they're giving away, or you can donate money. I'll be there again next week :)
