I remember when this was first released during WWII. It was a 3 two sided 78: by Capitol. I was at work when Martin Bloch Disc Jocky for His "Make Believe Ballroom" When he played this song on our shop radio. The whole departed stopped to listen to it and all commented what beautiful close harmony and it neved aged still makes me want to be in love again. NickD
We had a wind-up grammophone, and as a boy I used to fight my brother for the job as a winder. We had Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and many other oldies, really lovely memories of my folks, oh how I miss them !!
This song brings back bittersweet memories ... of loves I had which never even had a chance to reach full flowering (sigh) I do wish one of them might think of me just a little, even just once in a while (sigh) ... Heartfelt thanks to you for posting this song!!
I grew up with this song. My dad's cousin was married to Michael Edwards, the composer. He was from the coal region in North Eastern PA. Wonderful man! Grand couple!
Absolutely delightful. A great era for wonderful music. I truly pity those poor souls who know nothing of this music and who listen to (c)rap thinking that is all there is.
Llucky me - I did live in this time, and thanks to this beautiful music, I still get to relive those wonderful moments. Just remember, your today's will be your nostalgia in the future. Find what you love today and and you will have much to remember.
this is a special song for Louie and me, we have a crackly LP recording of it, next year 2010 it will be 20 years since we met there are still some crackling embers lol.
I love to listen to this version of this beautiful classic over and over. We met The Dinning Sisters' brother, Ace, a number of years ago. He played a great steel guitar. What a wonderful musical family. This music is meant for all ages and it was written by true talent. Thanks once more for posting this. - Paula
What a beautiful song sung by three lovely ladies. Their sweet voices make this old classic really special Whenever I tune in to our music channels on the TV I am always impressed with the beautiful songs of yesteryear . I sit back and relax and feel so peaceful. Not long ago I heard this one by The Dinning Sisters and am so happy you have shared it with us. Thank you Joan. - Paula

Anyone who remembers the Lennon Sisters on the Lawrence Show will know the eerie similarity to the original sung here.

The more I listen to music of this era, the more I believe that rock'n'roll is the most overrated slop that was ever sent over the air-waves.
