  • Hope your national team will perform it in the World Cup! Good luck there!

  • @CCCCXD

Nope. Because all world will laugh at us

  • Does the regualr soccer team of new zealand the haka to? I think that would be great in the world cup 2010!

  • they do but i think they do it at the end, unlike rugby where they do it at the beginning...

  • HAKA IS WONDERFUL

  • HAKA ON SPEED LOL

  • tht was one real fast haka...

  • I thought so too. It seemed like they may have been forced to do it. Taking your time in it makes it much more intimidating, as it is ment to be.

  • I really don't understand why people in the U.S. have such a resentment towards soccer. I'm an American player, and am truly sorry about our countries close mindedness to other countries cultures. Now, even though many soccer players at the professional level have a reputation for flopping and trying to get a call from the ref's, youth soccer (especially in the South West) is pretty brutal. No time outs, and only the occasional stop in play, fast pasted, and a lot of contact make it very hard.

  • Leave the resented people alone. Maybe he can't stand "soccer" being by far the most popular sport in the world. That is because it is very easy to play, you only need some friends, a ball and a flat terrain. Also because well played it can be spectacular as no other sport, and the goal is an explosion that doesn't compare to any other form of scoring of other sport. You as Americans should be supporting your own league, no matter if it hasn't got the level of European football.

  • touch football is just as easy to play

  • Are you good at football?

  • which type?

  • The only type of football that exists, that one that in the USA and Australia is wrongly called "soccer". The one that Maradona played.

  • yes i am i played for a youth side in Auckland,

  • And why do you sai it's easy to play? It might be easy to kick the ball with your foot, but to control it, tocarry it, to dribble, to face a goalkeeper, in sum, to be a good player, it isn't an easy thing to do, don't you think so?

  • hmm, soccer and touch football are two different things, touch football is non contact rugby and i didnt mean it was easy to play as in the sport was easy to be good at i meant it's easy to play as in it's easy for you and your friends to go and kick about in the park (like socceR) rather than full 15 rugby

  • Ok, it seems we didn't understand ourselves, I was talking about "soccer" and what you play is another sport called "touch football" which's existence I didn't know.

  • there u go then, glad that's settled

  • The football is the best sports on the world, other sport not, sorry my english I from Argentina.-

  • wooww so many words for a pathetic person

  • @RONOC2008 you're the fag i belive, NUF SAID

  • @RONOC2008.. well ur a tart

  • @RONOC2008

    suck a dick , cunt

  • nothing like da rugby guys...

  • CRINGE. :(

  • do they even get paid for soccer in New Zealand??

cos they have weak teams Lol

    correct me if im wrong

    Cheers

  • You live in NZ and you don't know?? C'mon man, get informed.

  • The highest form of professional football (soccer) in New Zealand is the club Wellington Phoenix in the A-League. Kind of like the New Zealand Warriors in the NRL for rugby league. Basically professional sport would almost be nonexistant in NZ without australia, lol. Seriously though, it's just because of population and such. There's not enough people to be having professional leagues. Even rugby is shared with South Africa and Aus.

  • you obviously don't know much about NZ rugby.

  • raealy doesn't have the same impact as the all blacks . . . i'm brazilian n i say :

HAKA against the 5 world championship have NO impact !

  • Intao cara, falou bonito.

  • fuck you!!!!5 times world champions but a 3rd wolrd country fuelled by crime, corruption and hunger so shut it!

  • Have u ever been in Brzil to say that?????? Racist motherfucker.

  • yes I have.I visited several parts of Brazil and the people were great! The only annoying thing is their approach to sport which is the mos arrogant I have ever seen!they have to learn they're not the only ones who "joga bonito"(Zidane will told them that lol)and I stand with what I said,is time to stop the carnival all the time, and football, and concentrate on real issues such as corruption, and poverty!5 times world champ is nothing when kids die on the streets of hunger!racist my ass u cunt!

  • hahaha with all that haka stuff if you play against Argentina you`d lose 123-0.

  • HAHAHAHAHA!!!

doesn't have the same impact as the all blacks :P

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !

  • Right words[for once]

But holy crap the actions are bad and out of time! lol.

    they'll get better.

if they know the words then they should have learned the actions easy.

  • what a shit...

  • not near as cool as the all blacks

  • Even with Maori in the squad, I think it will take more time to combine Haka with the All Whites.

As long as football is called soccer in New Zealand, and most Kiwis seem to think of it as a nice, friendly and non-masculine sports, instead of the all-consuming and almost divine status it has in the bigger part of Europe and South America, a Haka seems almost displaced in my opinion.

  • I am argentinian and i'll be flying to NZ in august to try to join an squad.

I love NZ and I hope I could join any team, I rather play for NZ than any other club in the world, including Barcelona FC !!!!

I know it's going to be though but I won't give up.

    :)

  • good luck with your adventure - best to head to Wellington if you are good enough there could be a position with NZ only professional team - Phoenix.

    Cheers

  • u must b reallllllll good since ud rather play 4 nz then barcelona

    wow ur a real talent

  • Why after the game ?

    Before like rugby is better.

  • Has the senior team ever done the Haka?

  • No, but I think thats mainly there are not many Maoris or Islanders in the NZ senior team, but in time there could be and who knows maybe they may adopt it.

The 2007 NZU17 team contained about 5 boys of Pacific and Maori heritage.

  • The problem with new zealand soccer is that its more of a who you know than a what you know ...there is a lotta kids out there from brazil ,england ,argentina, africa with bucket loads of talent but will never get the chance cause they arent kiwi enough .

  • A valid point there for sure - In NZ, if you have the money at least you have a chance, but if you do not then you may never realise your potential - so we may not have the best playing at national level its about who can afford it. Its the harsh reality that football in NZ is a minority sport, no major corporates willing to support financially and its user pays!

  • to be honest on an U17 national soccer team i would expect most if not all of the players to be playing with or have had trials for professional teams

  • New Zeland results in this tournament: 0-7 vs Brazil 0-5 vs England 0-1 vs South Korea Maybe the should practice more football/soccer and them worry about the haka performance.

  • and you were there the whole way too aye? can you put any context into the results? doubt it - did you know that 2 possibly 3 of the boys have trials with pro clubs and couple of state universities are looking at the boys - so yes the results were disappointing but boys performed the haka for the parents and supporters who were there for them.....stay positive my friend!

  • i know a bit about the haka but i tho it was before goin to war help the warriors be confident and go to battle without fear.. ok no this is a sport but i think the haka should be at any sport where nzer are playing at.

to answer saukino keep in mind thos guy s are 16 i don t know about u but at 16 i was like this 2.. then got buff.

  • quite funny

  • I know its soccer but some of those boys need to eat some taro and cornbeef. It looks like an ad for unicef crying out to sponsor these kids.

  • godwin you blak guy

  • NZers aren't made for skill sports. Stay with Rugby

  • What your definition of skill sports....NZ is not just about rugby, in fact NZers love all sports including football, League, Softball, Basketball then theres yachting, canoeing, rowing, mountain biking etc, we play them all and some, not too mention highly skilled at it too.

  • ye fuk off u homos..

  • this is wrong...only guys should perform haka...keep it with rugby.

  • Bro - there are more and more Maoris and Islanders playing soccer and their "mana and passion for New Zealand" is no different to rugby....So get over it!kia kaha and Faamalosi!

  • those are alot of skinny, white islanders.

  • Shot Moses Petelo. U da man
