  • No Photoshop demo = Thumbs down.

  • I have been thinking about getting this tablet. After seeing your review I'm pretty sure I'm getting this!

BTW, waiting for the 2nd part of the video... ^_^

  • If you are going to connect a mouse and keyboard anyways, Why not just get a more powerful laptop?

Seems pretty pointless to me, from a UDK standpoint.

If you REALLY want the capabilities of a tablet, why not just get one of those laptops with the touch screen that flips around?

  • @bunktacular I didn't buy it for UDK, it's just a bonus. And for the record, I have that "more powerful laptop". Nobody who has owned both would make the comment you just made. From a practical standpoint (being able to carry it around wherever for an entire day on a single charge - and, for that matter - just carry it) there is no comparison. So, that combination of weight, even with kb and mouse, portability, life and power, makes this very appealing.

  • @VoxHouseStudio I just can't see the appeal of using it for very many productive things over a smartphone/laptop. Touch screen means simple tasks only to me

However, the thought of a Wacom made tablet has me intrigued, or a bluetooth stylus with pressure sensitivity, buttons and a specialized tip to work on capacitive screens. E-Sketch pad sounds like a fantastic artist tool to me.

There's also an app for photoshop that turns tablets into a tool box, if you don't already know.

  • @VoxHouseStudio right bro.. i have a heavy good laptop but i don't need a that stuff for school, this tablet could even run wow if you want it..

  • kudos.. cool vid.. waiting for part 2.. :-)

also if you haven't managed to figure out how to close the UDK welcome screen, u hv to click outside the button boundary and drag ur finger towards the button and release when u r within the button boundary..

  • @nemesissisemen Thank you, and for the suggestion as well. What tablet do you own? I ask because your suggestion does not work here. Unfortunately not even with my updated digitizer driver.

  • @VoxHouseStudio i also own an iconia tab w500-c60, although i've installed and am running the windows 8 developer build on it. I find it more tablet friendly. I guess that may be the difference. But I also noticed windows 8 sometimes confuses my finger input for mouse input and features like the 'flick' gestures don't work here. well I did have the same issue with UDK and that was what worked for me at least.. :-)

  • @nemesissisemen how does win 8 work with hovering, in win7 i have yet to find a way to hover over a link without clicking. is that behavior the same? i want to try 8 but am hesitant to try the developer builds or any "timebomb" type build.

  • @VoxHouseStudio well, i use a technique similar to my welcome screen solution. In win 8, i found that using a browser like firefox or chrome will come with drag-scrolling enabled since win8 is all tablet friendly. so i use those and not IE, although IE is a better experience in win8, i just cant live without the addons. To hover, i basically click outside to the right of the link and slide my finger to the link, then lift my finger, that reveals the urls. Should also work with 7.

  • Thanks. Well done and good data.

  • i think is better have a small laptop maybe if the tablets get better would be nice but i cant see how would you work fast on Maya or udk using this

  • @Z4N4RD1N3 hey that is all in taste, but i don't think i have heard of too many laptops with similar size vs portability, and besides, use the dock and it IS a laptop, as i tried to explain. When you need it to be, it is far more,

  • @VoxHouseStudio I see what you mean, well I guess is taste like you said. I like tablets, I got one too but the only thing I do on the tablet is e-mails, and sketch some concepts. I think I cant do 3d on that hehe, but well some day I try to see how it works .

  • @Z4N4RD1N3 It's the built in Radeon that makes it possible, I don't think it is powerful enough to actually play any current gen games well but for development it can work. I will post results in 3D apps soon.

  • I meant power vs portability whoops..

  • Good stuff. Looks like a good product for you!

  • Think 3ds max or maya would run on it?

  • @miatribe yep I do think so. can't think of a reason why not. I will test Maya soon. :)

  • Very impressive for a tablet

  • Cool!! UDK runs in a tablet! :O
