I like their interaction here, they prop each other up. Most couples who've been together for over 30 years can't stop sniping at each other. But these two make an effort to put each other in a positive light. In the 1994 movie she was great, but sounded exactly like him. They look great now and seem very comfortable with Aline in the more central role. wow sure is weird talking about people I don't even know lol!
@sangredelic heheh... but your right y'know. They come across as very supportive of each other. He stated in that 1994 Crumb film that he didn't love anybody except for his daughter. Well, if he doesn't love Aline he sure is fond of her.
Another thing, I knew plenty of women in the 80's who were NOT offended by his explicit work. I remember the "Girls Clubhouse" one had them all laughing. Aline wasn't the only one who "got it".
he doesnt understand why he is liked? cant see the forest for the trees, geez
he is totally honest with himself and is able to express that and that uniqueness is what people crave.humans brains need to see uniqueness they can relate to.plus he is damn funny, creative and has his own style.he is lucky to have found aline, otherwise his perversions wouldve overtaken him.he is so damn lucky that rat bastard:)
This is a happy artistic couple who've stayed together for ABOUT 40 years! That is a miracle. And they're so weird & eccentric! I don't know how anyone can write shit about them here unless they happen to know them on a very personal basis. And that's highly unlikely.
what a great couple, he is so comfortable in her shade. not only on stage i guess. I imagine her endless talking and enthausiasm in daily life while he's mumbling his remarks too.
wow, some people here are really shallow... Aline's work is significantly different that R's, and she has established herself over the years in underground wimmin's comix, and is not at all riding on his coat tails.
Incidentally, she's aged very well...R's one lucky bastid!

These guys are living proof of the common idea that the most interesting thing about most artists is their art. It's not that they're prohibitively boring, just pretty pedestrian.
Aline is basically his Linda McCartney. Her story-telling is pretty mundane, not in the sense that harvey Pekar's is. Harvey's is somehow compelling - Aline's isn't in my opinion.
Crumb obviously has lots of broad and deep insight, but also some cultural blind spots. His love of most ANY old music and NO new is lame.
aline is annoying. her work is a wash. obviously their relationship has been very good for him. the artist/muse relationship can be very dangerous for both. theyve made it work their own way, for quite a while now----more power to the both of them.
They are so fun together!

I've been reading Crumb since 1972, and Aline since right before they were married. So good to finally hear them talk at length .

Love 'em both. Were responsible for some of the best times of my life. They didn't know it though :-)

"We're like movie stars over here" - No Aline, Robert is the movie star, you're the hanger on. And you talk way too much.
