my goddess. one of my forst siouxsie CDs was this concert in reading. now that I can watch the pictures, I am all the more amazed, dazzled (!) byt the power of it. THANKS SO MUCH SIOUXSIE FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE ALWAYS OFFERED your strength, your voice, your singularity (compliment!).
Factual correction here, she has gone on record as saying she's done acid. From an article with the band recalling the inspiration for the tracks on Twice Upon a Time: "We also went to Tel Aviv, where most of the audience were on acid - which was available after the show, so we took it as well! We ended up on the beach, having a party until sunrise, and, of course, we ended up swimming. The sea was very clear, but there were all these little fish flying out of it. It wasn't the drugs, honest!"
As someone else said Siouxsie was very much into acid and admits that it was the main inspiration on Dazzle(I always guessed that),I mean almost all the Banshees songs go very well with psychedellics.
OOPs...My prior post was meant to be for a vid of HONG KONG GARDEN, not MONITOR!
Siouxsie's the Real McCoy...He Screams, U Scream, We all Scream for ICE QUEEN!(During Prohibition in the US the best bootlegger around for bringing in authentic good stuff from Europe [good Cognac, Scotch, etc.] was a Mr. McCoy. Hence cultured booze heads had a yen for the "Real McCoy"!)
I vote it best song - bar none - ever written about a Chinese fast food restaurant in suburban London! Their 1st ever record out (a single), and a heck of a debut for the Siouxsiers. I'll take Siouxsie's singing over Johnny Rotten's anyday (well, most days). And in '06 nearing 50 years, she's still a knockout in every way.
Siouxsie's my heroine (but not my opium...that I get from my poppies)!
Acid? yeah but does Siouxsie look particularly happy these days? Not really.
