No lack of love for Stephan and Third Eye Blind, quite the opposite in fact, TEB is the soundtrack to my life. But does anyone else feel like their change in style, and (in my opinion) slightly less captivating words on the new album is an unwelcome change?
@MSkylar I love them no matter what, and Bonfire is just like the old stuff I love, but for me that was the only one that really stuck with their true style and lyricism off of Ursa. Yes, I see they are evolving and growing up, good for them. But I feel Stephan's breathtaking lyricism has taken a hit. Ursa lyrics are good, but they aren't paralyzing like the 90s stuff. Just my opinion. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Tony Fredianelli the guitarist was in progressive/speed metal band Apocrypha in the late '80s. I wonder how do people from one great music style end up playing this s**t?
He realized metal sucks? A lot of people confuse speed with musical ability. Don't get me wrong, you have to be a great technical player to shred that fast on the guitar, but I think for a lot of people (myself including), it just sounds noisy most of the time.

just jenkins (singer) and Brad Hargreaves (drums) are still in the lineup from their first cd. Guitar player was on their last cd, and they're just hiring a bass play for concerts i guess, cuz the band has none right now
the bassplayer didnt really give them a reason, he just kind of up and left, so they dont know if he quit or not. i mean, whoever played the new album is still a good player, but his sound isnt as tight as the orignial guy
They have remained true to themselves, their sound has changed, but ive been a hard core 3eb fan since I was 11. I love their new stuff as well as their old. It is natural for a bands sound to change somewhat over the years due to influence and culture, as well as maturity. I say keep on keeping on Stephan!!!!! You Rock!!

All you have to do is look around at what is being passed off as "music" these days and you pretty much come to expect this.Third Eye Blind is one of my favorite bands ever,if only for their first album, entitled after the band. They had a few good songs mixed in after that, and that is pretty much it. I'm afraid if you want good music these days you have to go underground to get it Music as I knew it died in 1998
I'm very sorry that you feel that way but you are obviously not open to a wide variety of music. There is still some great music today, besides rap hip/hop and couontry. I do agree with you though that people are slowly losing interest in real music, Rock N' Roll for the most part, for it is referred to as Devil's work which is not true. But other than that Rock N' Roll slowly demininshes and we forget about it everyday, but I refuse to let it go and I'll make damn sure it survives for longer

nothing compares to their 98 album, the whole cd was awesome, and the songs that wernt maintstream were the best. I want you, Motrocycle driveway, they were incredible. 3EB is The Best

To KurayamiShikaku: Yeah i actualy understand you because i'm listening to a lot of different kind of music but although this is really not so bad it's light years away from what music was in the '80s and it was diverse and thrilling. Nowdays music is boring and it sounds all the same. I merely wanted to point the fact that Tony Fredianelli was playing technicaly waaay better back then.

you cant compare this album to their old stuff.. its been awhile since they have made music..obviously they are going to have a different sound/lyrics..your life changes and you begin to have different beliefs..all they are doing is progressing as a band..it happens to everyone

He realized metal sucks? A lot of people confuse speed with musical ability. Don't get me wrong, you have to be a great technical player to shred that fast on the guitar, but I think for a lot of people (myself including), it just sounds noisy most of the time.

just jenkins (singer) and Brad Hargreaves (drums) are still in the lineup from their first cd. Guitar player was on their last cd, and they're just hiring a bass play for concerts i guess, cuz the band has none right now

the bassplayer didnt really give them a reason, he just kind of up and left, so they dont know if he quit or not. i mean, whoever played the new album is still a good player, but his sound isnt as tight as the orignial guy

They have remained true to themselves, their sound has changed, but ive been a hard core 3eb fan since I was 11. I love their new stuff as well as their old. It is natural for a bands sound to change somewhat over the years due to influence and culture, as well as maturity. I say keep on keeping on Stephan!!!!! You Rock!!

I'm very disappointed with this to say the least, but not the least bit surprised. All you have to do is look around at what is being passed off as "music" these days and you pretty much come to expect this.Third Eye Blind is one of my favorite bands ever,if only for their first album, entitled after the band. They had a few good songs mixed in after that, and that is pretty much it. I'm afraid if you want good music these days you have to go underground to get it Music as I knew it died in 1998

I'm very sorry that you feel that way but you are obviously not open to a wide variety of music. There is still some great music today, besides rap hip/hop and couontry. I do agree with you though that people are slowly losing interest in real music, Rock N' Roll for the most part, for it is referred to as Devil's work which is not true. But other than that Rock N' Roll slowly demininshes and we forget about it everyday, but I refuse to let it go and I'll make damn sure it survives for longer

I think Out of the Vein was all good as well as the self titled, but Blue wasnt entirely all amazing. I havent heard much from the new one, but i hope that its good, this song is decent.
