I find this to be quite fascinating and I can understand why people would turn away from the church. Many are tired of being rejected and abused by Christianity. Why follow a god that would emotionally and psychologically abuse you with threats of eternal torment? If this sort of thing was going on in a relationship, the abused person would leave or call the cops or something. So if we wouldn't put up with this from a person, why put up with it from a god?

As for saints, saints in themselves are not wrong, and they aren't worshiped (if they are, then you are right, Saints are not to be worshiped; but may be venerated, especially their relics. Look in the bible, Elisha's bones). Offerings made in front of the Arc of the Covenant, though even behind a veil, would look like worship of a box to untrained eyes.

I don't venerate saints at all, I believe that my relationship with God is personal, there is no third man involved. it's your choice if you want to venerate a saint or some relic but for me all praise and glory should be sent to Jesus Christ.
