I've been providing RE-training to BHPA 'trained' pilots since the late 90's, most come to with a CP 'rating' and UNDER 1hr flight time, in addition a significant number will have had (or witnessed) 'pilots' having accidents while under instruction... so hardly a surprise that in 2009 the BHPA had 7 deaths (inc. a CP student under instruction)
There are a number of BHPA schools who STATE the student (for £1,500) should get (quote) 'at least 30mins airtime'
Mr Richardson. Perhaps you'd like to re-instate that video of yours that you removed so the critics can have a poke at that ! You know ? The one where you crashed into a tree when there was plenty of room all around to land. You missed the pilots leg straps! Look again. Then go and have some fun flying :o)
whats the problem ? he got off in the end didn't he?. And he'll get off quicker next time. Happy days. Its all about having fun,.... or have i missed something?
This shows some of the many failings of the BHPA. For various wrong reasons in the UK, we think of BHPA training to be best there is, a requirement for many flying sites. Sorry, but if this chap doesn't know how to keep his A lines in the correct position for a forward launch, then how in the hell did he become an instructor and was a reverse launch a bit complicated? Seen enough bad CP pilots in my time, but an instructor???
Reminds me of the clip I filmed (one of my re-trained students told me who it was 'BHPA instructor') of a 'accident waiting to happen' speed wing flight... ending in a crash into the fence at Glenshee Ski Center...
We knew it was a BHPA 'instructor' (and ex-ski instructor) as Geordie Oliver (the 'pilot'/'instructor'!) had sent a press release titled 'Introducing Ski Speed Flying to Scotland' to all the papers!
PS this was years after I'd first flown a sub 12m2 wing in Scotland!
YEP! 'The MANY Failings of the BHPA'
