used this single wing in flag football for my little guys this year. it was beast, and gets a lot of players a chance to touch the ball. this was important beacue we are trying to encourage thes kids to keep playing. and they ALL want to run with the ball. I combined it with an inaudable hike...
I hipe to see more single wing with the popularity of the wildcat. The offesne was never really figured out like the wishbone was it simply passed with time. Once the bears put up 73 on the redskins with the T-formation the single wing just fadded.
thank you......but what i don't get is why everyone want's to call it "the wildcat" when in fact it's just a single wing-t offence....you can always tell when people don't know football because they say that it would never work in the pro's but the fact of the matter is that any system will work as long as you know what your doing.....and have the tolls to do it
Bill Walsh always said he regretted not bringing the single wing back to the NFL. And when Lombardy was asked how the single wing would fair against modern defenses(at that time) he said that it would make them look stupid.
Well the team of the decade faced an unbalanced single wing and they didn't' know to shift. They just sat there in their 3-4 and got out maned at the point of attack.
Pop Warner kids know to shift when they see unbalanced. The team of the decade didn't.
My high school team ran this a few years ago and two of our backs had 1000+ yards on the season. The opposing defenses did not know what to do.
