  • Im 14 and I really wish I were around to see them in the 60s but they are still incredible. I listen to this song probably 5 times a day from the pure beauty of the vocals and lyrics. Even if its autotuned, they are both almost 70 years old, it doesnt take away what they did to music. And nothing can match that.

  • @therainmaster288 Please tell me you are kidding. They are not autotuned....shit, you are so ignorant. It's called talent. And musicians used to have it.

  • If Simon and Garfunkel can fill Madison Square, I wonder how much they would get tommorow.

    Pure amazing.

  • Great,Great!!

  • two of the finest voices in music history. their songs defined a generation lived by our parents. it's 2012 and their music lives on!

  • Amazing. Too bad someone felt the need to autotune in the post-production.

  • @njtwkr Are you kidding?

  • @MayfliesinApril I am not kidding you.

  • Truly awesome

  • Why do people always have to fucking clap?

  • ASIANS!

  • That was.what I call amazing! Shivers.

  • How did the stadium not explode when Art goes off at 9:15 to 9:41? Thats one of the greatest things in the history of music

  • @deadheadwookie17

you are so damn right !

  • Holy shit I can barely hold my tears....this is so beautiful!!!!

  • There not as good as the Beatles or Beach boys but they are up there on the list. Very powerful songs. I am 29 years old and I can appreciate good music before my time. When songs actually meant something. I love Garfunkels voice. Almost as good as a good Paulgasm.

  • It is clear and obvious that Art is autotuned here - no matter how many people try to deny it it's there for anyone who vaguely knows what autotune is. However, I don't believe it was added to correct pitch, I think Art was already beginning to suffer with vocal problems and the autotune synthetically strengthens the sound. The use of autotune is fact, the reason for use is opinion.

  • @evans2610 Garfunkel is not autotuned. Anyone whose followed their careers for years knows that Garfunkel's voice is still as strong as it was years ago.

  • @JamesA46 I have followed their careers for years, they had to cancel a tour because Garfunkel couldn't sing, not that his voice wasn't strong even, that he couldn't even sing. Anyone with ears can tell this is autotuned. My point is that this isn't even a debate - you can hear it clearly that there is the digital/mechanical sound to his voice. It's not even subtle. I'm a massive fan of Simon and Garfunkel and I'm not criticising I just fail to understand the people who can't hear it!

  • @evans2610 If you have been following Simon and Garfunkel since the 1960's you would know along with other groups that use tight harmony, the back up musicians subtly play in the same key as the vocals many times making it sound that the voice is extending much longer when in fact it is the muscians instrument that is doing it. This is nothing new.

  • @evans2610 Groups have been using this methodoligy since the begining of recorded music. It's called having a tight playing band and the musicians used in this tour were some of the best in the business...and people do get sick sometimes and can't sing.

  • Sometimes talent trumps everything else...

Art Garfunkel probably has the purest voice among non-African/black (sorry..im not with political correctness) singers ive ever heard. Just so pitch perfect and pure to the notes.

His power and air isnt what it once was, but thats not a big deal....he still has it.

In other news, he looks just like Yitzhak Rabin now...lol.

  • art nails the notes every time!!! brilliant!!!

  • Their harmonies are just stunning.

  • Still as soulful and chilling as it was 46 years ago. Simon & Garfunkel, you're the best duo to have ever walked the earth!

  • Just simply LOVE

  • all the 'autotune' stuff is KILLING me. art has perfect pitch. he wouldn't get on stage if he couldn't do it. it's why he's not singing right now (12/2011 - his vocal cord paresis). also - he's soft with timbre when he's LOW, clear and sharp HIGH; listen to his recordings when he was young. it's possible THIS recording was cleaned, but i've listened to a non-clean recording - art was not corrected. he gets cleaner the higher he gets; that's true to form for art. as for paul - he's had LESSONS ;)

  • This is honestly the greatest performance of ANYTHING that I've ever heard. They sound INCREDIBLE and totally give me the chills.

  • why do they say: "Nokia, connecting people!"? This is like connecting everything to us! Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant! I`m speechless...

  • I love Art's face when he realizes what song they're about to do.

  • when was this?

  • Awesome beautiful song

  • art...

  • @gotherealex - FINE art.

  • I am still amazed by the fact that this truly amazing video is still at 251167 views. @THX8KanalMaster Thank you for this amazing video

  • excelentes!!!! mi alma se regocija..great!!!!

  • lots of emotions ! fantastic

  • My religion teacher in 5th grade introduced me to S & G, and their voices touched me far more than any catholic worship song.

  • They are a pair of those who know friendship best, singing songs of them over 40years. There are many things we should learn from them. I'd never think they are old as their songs never get old.

  • i dont know about today a saw them a few years ago live and there is no no no autotune these men have amazing talent!

  • Garfunkel is if not the only amongst the very few singers that still got the voice even at 60

  • Art is amaizing in this song just as well as "Sound of Silence"

  • @lightbar11 In their early years, Simon would have said they weren't commercial (read: plastic and manufactured) enough. In their later years Simon would say they weren't contemporary enough. I'm am totally convinced X Factor would have passed on Simon and Garfunkel. The show produces music that is mediocre at best, horrible at worst.

  • lol, imagine if they were on xfactor and wasnt yet famous

  • <3

  • goosebumps.

  • I don't hear any autotune in this... I think whoever says its autotuned is just wrong :p

  • @asmodias nvm, I hear it in the end :p

  • awesome as ever !

  • When art said the first line of sound of silence I got chills. Honestly. I did. Now that's a tenor

  • La mejor canción escrita e interpretada de todos los tiempos.

    Impresionante.

  • amazing songwriters, and art garfunkel, so damn talanted..

  • why they can't live forever???

  • Anyone who can't hear autotune is a fucking idiot. Justifying that they're not using it because they're "old legends" from an era before our shitty manufactured music is complete bullshit. I'm a music producer and can tell you 100% that autotune has been added either by the sound engineers or in post production. I'm not saying they can't sing without it, but I wish old farts would learn what autotune actually is and sounds like before commenting on it all the time.

  • @mynameisjongreen Thank you. Nobody is denying the talent of these two performers, but this performance was autotuned, and quite badly too. I listened to some regular bootlegs of the tour and while it doesn't sound as "perfect" as it sounds here, it still sounds very good and that's WITHOUT autotune. People age, voices get lower. It's a fact of life.

  • @mynameisjongreen

You're full of shit, man. Stick autotune where the sun doesn't shine.

  • @mynameisjongreen

It's all an opinion, just because some of us don't think they are using autotune doesn't makes us idiots. Why can't people just speak for 10 minutes without name calling in this generation?

  • these songs give u a shiver..

  • I love how these children below me say it's auto-tune. You guys are hilarious .... seriously, legends like these using auto-tune? That is their voice!

  • No that is auto tune!!!

  • And one more thing: This was obviously done completely live on the night. The auto-tune has been added in post-production.

  • I can guarantee there is autotune in this. What year is this?

Doesn't diminish the talent of either, both stunning musicians and artists.

  • What makes them so fantastic, is the fact that they sound just as good live as they do in the studio. Much unlike...90%....of today's "musicians".

  • @willmanbender A major portion of their work sounds better live. These guys are real singers, not dependent on studio engineering for their sound.

  • I really hope that those 3 Dislikes were missclicks.

  • If there is autotune, they turned it off for the last part of Bridge of Troubled Water, cos that was very very natural from Garfunkel

  • There is no autotune. There is a raspiness in Garfunkel's voice due to aging. There is also some degradation due to Youtube compression.

  • one of the most epic song and voice in history.

  • besser dennjeh, einfach perfekt und einzigartig!

  • absoluter Oberhammer!!! Unsterbliche Musi, für immer und ewig! Herrlich Simon und garfunkel sind Kult und auch im Hohen alter Perfekt!!!

  • Who could not love this music

  • These two artits and their music is for the ages. Their won't be two other like them.

  • Oh, the memories.

  • whomever says that these 2 are auto-tuned is WRONG..... These two have still got it, years later can still sing very well

  • it does'nt get any better than this!

  • Dam they rock!

  • Golden Hits :-D

    Thank you very much!

  • Absolutely Amazing..

  • I know a guy who was back stage for this because he's worked with Bruce and by talking to him I can assure you that they were NOT autotuned. Honestly, Simon & Garfunkel autotuned? I hate to be abrasive but, are you an idiot or do you honestly think Rock n' Roll legends would use a machine to sing? These are real musicans. I know they are hard to come across these days but when they do happen to appear don't demean them with machines. What you're hearing is Art's falsetto brought on by his age.

  • What?? Autotune my ass. I'm sick of pple calling 'autotune' every time they hear anyone that can acctually sing.. Is it that 'lilt' in Garfunkels voice ur talkn about? 'cause that's always been there. That's the way he sounds.

  • seriously you guys wouldnt know autotune if it kicked you in the butt,, what you heard was the voice and of two two legends, you would of thought that as they get older their voices would have been deteriorating byt their gets even better with age NO AUTO TUNE. thats just that my friend

  • it is autotune, there is no question about, if you had any knowledge in recording techniques and shit like that you would know. doesn't make them any less good though.

  • @fawnandrabbit Even if you repeat it 10000 times, it is still wrong.

This was not "autotune". Now stop trying to lie.

  • @shevegen I'm sorry that you're such a "dedicated fan" that you can't accept that vocal chords wear down as you get older. i record music and know about music recording and performance enhancers, and you can clearly hear the metallic twang that happens most often when they hit a particularly off note. if you listen to their old versions of this song and this one you can tell. stop letting your emotions towards this song and the fact that you like it blind you from the obvious truth.

  • @fawnandrabbit Do you have a specific example (as in, a part of this video) in which this "metallic twang" occurs? Nothing really sounds unusual to me. And come now, you can't actually use the "it sounds different from their old stuff" argument. You said it yourself. Vocal chords wear down, and it's only natural that their voices sound different now than they used to. As a matter of fact, it would be ridiculous to expect their voices to sound the same.

  • While they probably are autotuned, they would sound just as good if not better without it, and that's saying something for a pair in their 70's

  • Autotune is meant for people who can't sing. Art's voice and pitch are naturally so perfect that he doesn't need autotune. People just think that if singer sings quite perfectly (Like Art) he must be using autotune because nowadays there are not many singers in popular music who have as good of a voice control as Art Garfunkel has.

And Paul Simon is a very good singer too, to be honest.

  • why they can't live forever???

  • 3 people have no souls, for you I weep.

  • If someone wrote a statement saying that another group where 'Easily as influential and powerful as the Beatles' I would be really pissed, But when you listen to these two men and take in the beauty of their song writing and glorious harmonies...very different to the Beatles but I would say they are both different and similar. The similarity is that there will NEVER be anything like these two groups. Both geniuses. :)

  • Beautiful performance!

  • This performance was truely moving, amazing talent!

  • unbelievable0.0

  • I think if u had an empty stage with the just the two mic stands set up one high and one short.. that is uniquely simon and garfunkel

  • @bigcack48 I had to check. Some sources say Paul is 5'3" others say 5'2" - he's still taller than me. 5'1" but that's at least a thought that someone almost as short as me can still make it big.

  • Meraviglioso!!!

  • history was once again made. and the sound never gets old.

  • one word: goosebumps

  • incredible

  • " Me gusta: 549 No me gusta: 3 "

Who did not like this? he has the ears of shit

  • although they are brilliant , i'd wish theyd rework somre of their classics

  • 3 people should be silent. find the peace....

  • 3 people dont know what real music is.

  • Art Garfunkel's voice is like natural auto-tune.

  • @jamesmalekzadeh So is Kanye West's voice?

  • @jamesmalekzadeh waaaaaaaaaay better

  • R.I.P Rorschach ='(

  • they used auto tune on garfunkels voice.. which i understand.. but still! this is amazing, so fresh and clear and youthfull!

  • @matilde891 I dont think its auto tune, it sounds like natural vibrato to me

  • Comment removed

  • je les adores

  • It's a shame I'm born too late. I'd love to have seen them back then. They're the best <3

  • This is amazing. What fountain has preserved the youth of their voices?

  • As I said to @ looniedog .............. I think you have misunderstood me. I did never said that I could hear whether they use auto-tune or not. I can't. Well, I have my guesses and opinions, but the same applies for me as for others. My opinion isn't for sure correct because you simply can't be 100% sure by hearing.

  • I know nothing about auto-tune, but surely it must have some limitations.

  • there is music. and there is music touching your heart. this isnt only music,

  • you would have to come to sing to Carhaix to festival of the old plows ( big european festival in france)you would be estimated by the bretons ....

it is the closest people of europe geographically of America . thank you very much for yours songs ... fabien

  • gives me goosebumps every single time i hear this!

  • it's definately not autotune it's garfunkels wonderfull voice , i asked him yesterday ;)

  • It makes me so sad knowing that I probaly will never see them perform life.

I would give the world to go to a performance of them. Never have i heard two voices match in such a beautiful way.

  • GREAT

  • Autone tune or not, who cares.. this is truly fantastic!!!!!!

  • You're under 20 years old if you are commenting about auto tune. Like me lol

  • Art may obviously be using autotune, but at least he isn't lip syncing.

  • I love their music.

  • These guys are the biggest talent you can find and they have been for years. Never gona change. Awsome.

  • Guys, just listen to these wonderful songs! With or without autotune?...who cares!

This is one of a kind!

  • nothing compares to these old friends

still crazy after all these years

    a bookend full of love

    like the very first chapter

  • its in high quality... that doesn't mean autotuned. If you want to hear autotune listen to Cher- believe... that is a classic case of autotune. Now compare the two. Just because Simon and Garfunkel are amazing at what they do doesn't mean they fake it. They are one of the few who are just that good

  • What I also mean with my comment is that anybody could easily say that they were an expert because they want people to believe on them. On youtube you can be anybody you want. Then you suddenly have to "experts" with to different opinions. Which one is right? Who has based his comment just on the background of his own opinion? We don't know. ;-)

  • I just wanted everybody to know that know hat when they performed this song live at the MSG they did NOT used autotune (as can be heard from the live videos filmed by Youtubers who were present). The autotune for this "official" HD video has been added in the post-production. When they sing live, every now and then there are a few slight imperfections (and there has always been, even in their best days), but nothing that would need autotune. I don't know why it's been added afterwards. 2010's..?

  • I highly doubt these guys would use auto tune. they are too good, they have been singing this song for 50 years together.

  • beautiful just beautiful music<3

  • i think i like this version better than the original tracks

  • @wctushinski75 oh no doubt.

  • BEST SONG EVER WRITTEN

  • 1 person hates music

  • @orangepearldrummer They must've hit the wrong button, or they are satan. No other explanation.

  • true musical legends

  • THOSE MONSTERS WILL NEVER DIE

  • @poussyledzep you mean these titans

  • 0:59 When i saw them smile at eachother. I couldn't help but, smile. It was like a heart-warming friendship they had when they were younger. (:

  • This is not a criticism, but it does appear that the MSG performances were auto-tuned. There isn't ONE note out of tune, it's pitch perfect. If you Listen to every other early LIVE performance from the due, they do go slightly wrong now and then (they are human after all) Awesome gig though! Long live S&G! xx

  • @pazman2007 Oh no!!! I think you are right... listen at 6:55 when he said "falls so hard". It almost sounds too robotically perfect. I hope this was only done in post-production. Even so, the person who made that decision should be ashamed.

  • Ok, if your not from the 60's, you "may not", I didn't say "do not", know what I'm talking about. I am from the 60's and this is like an anthem to the 60's in a sense. These guys were so huge, you wouldn't even believe it, or maybe you would, but I'm so thrilled to see them both together singing this great song that they made popular. Marc Trainor.

  • as fantastic as ever S and G.

  • 1 person -.- go to hell who ever u are.

  • I may be wrong but this doesn't sound auto-tuned to me at all. But I do believe that that Garfunkel's voice isn't as strong as it once was - of course. Therefore, there are some sound effects to cover up.

  • Art Garfunkel still has that sweet tone in his voice! Their songs will live forever !

  • I think the artificial "sheen" ppl are going on about is just youtube video compression. That and two slightly wobbly aging voices. Absolute legends who always want to do their very best for an audience, and have cancelled numerous concerts when thier voices haven't been right, they'd rather quit than use autotune. I always have felt that their tuning is perfect to the point that you'd think autotune was around in the 60's!

  • hate too seem mean..but we have to take the 2 dislike ppl out back behind the BARN and slap some sense into them....in time they will thank us for showing them the way

  • i feel chills whenever i hear the magnificent voice of this duo. simply the best.very awesome!!!

  • Even if it`s autotuned just shut-up and enjoy!

  • This sounds autotuned, I'm sorry. I love these guys but I can't disagree with my ears.

  • Absolute Perfection -- Period.

  • Their voices are not young anymore but in some way it makes this song even more haunting. It goes to prove that most memorable singing is not just hitting every note perfect but to stir up your soul; to the point of shedding tears.

  • Their voices are not young anymore but in some way it makes this song even more haunting. It goes to prove that most memorable singing is not just hitting every note perfect but to stir up your soul; to the point of shedding tears.

  • Perfection

  • Tears in my Eyes!!!

  • absolutely perfect. one of the best songs

  • during this song has nobody to do any sound!

  • I've never heard a better song like this - great - even at this age

  • QUE CALIDAD, MADRE MIA....!!!!!

  • Alte, aber gute Zeiten-da fällt mir noch manche Liebste ein:-)

  • Your ears are Auto Tuned, not them

  • Just listen to that beautiful Martin guitar! Its's not Autotuned!
