  • then how the hell in next week episode of voltron force sven lives? and apprenlty betrays them

  • Japanese children, in contrast to American children, are imbued with the concept of understanding death as both a reality and a transition. I find it ironic in that a country professing to be overwhelmingly Christian (at least in name), the United States censors the death scenes in shows for kids from other countries, at least in certain types of shows. Kids expect bloody death scenes in horror flicks because they do not identify with the characters sympathetically as they would with Voltron.

  • Seeing Voltron after seeing GoLion left me speechless. The amount of censorship and the violent cutting from the scenes, all those plot changes and the dubbing that made little to no sense at all....WOW...how could W.E.P. fuck up Golion like that?

Any-whom, back to this clip: the battle between Ryou and Shincline is awesome. The man came to do a job and he did it. I loved how he got up for a split second after crash landing into the rocks yelling: "I did it, bro!"

  • @cnh2132 - RE: Censorship: that's America for you, land of hypocrisy and contradiction.

  • @Syntox

More like the country of not bombarding their 10 year olds(The demographic they targeted) with death. Doesn't seem like a good policy. There was alot of death in GoLion, and we don't even like to explain death of family members to our kids so why'd you expect them to bombard them with Haggar, Shigorane and Lotor's, etc etc deaths?

  • In the final American-made episode of Voltron, "Breakin' Up Is Hard to Doom", Lotor finally meets his end. For those of you haven't seen it, here's what happens: in the previous episode, King Zarkon had Lotor crucified (!) for his treachery. Queen Merla, who had recently become good, begged the Voltron Force to rescue Lotor, which they did, and Lotor seemed to consider turning good himself. (Continued next comment)

Lotor, accompanied by Cossack, goes to Merla and claims that he has changed his ways and wants to marry her. To prove himself, he offers to help the Voltron Force attack Planet Doom and defeat Zarkon for good. They attack the planet, break into Castle Doom, and go the throne room to arrest Zarkon. Allura's opinion of Lotor has changed, so he asks her to marry him. She refuses, because Lotor is supposed to marry Merla.

Of course it turns out to be a trap. "Zarkon" is actually Cossack in disguise. Lotor puts the Voltron Force in a force field and he and Cossack head for their ship just as the planet begins to explode. When Merla discovers the truth, she calls Lotor a coward and leaves in disgust. The Voltron Force escape from the force field and head for their Lions, except for Keith, who takes on Lotor in a sword fight. (Continued next comment)

Before anyone says anything, yes, I know Lotor is alive in the "Fleet of Doom" special, but that takes place BEFORE the other American-made episodes despite being aired after them.

Of course those episodes were all completely ignored by the Voltron sequel series that followed, but hey...

  • He already stabbed Sincline in the heart, why did he have to commit such a senseless sacrifice?

  • somewhat off topic but i wonder exactly how many edits were done to golion for the us version? wonder what the exact number is?

  • @GladDestronger

Here's a site to see so:

    golion(DOT)animation(HYPHEN)web(DOT)com

  • @EliroX904 Sincline wasn't really dying very quickly nor easy. He pretty much gutted him after being stabbed in the heart.
