  • When did Hershey Foods take over 5th Avenue from Luden's?

  • Yes, Hershey's makes 5th Avenue today, WITHOUT the almonds.

  • Do they still make 5th Avenue bars? I remember back in the day, seeing a neighbor of mine always eating them. Cute jingle!

  • This spot was seen in 1960, at the time Luden's marketed "5th Avenue" (and was one of the participating sponsors of ''WALT DISNEY PRESENTS" on ABC; I've seen a 16mm print of an hour-long "Zorro" episode from that series with this commercial included). Yep, that's Jack Collins as the "candy man".

  • 5th Avenue candy looks like Mr Hanky...

  • Does anyone know a broadcast year for this spot? It looks to be 1959-1960 to me, but would love to have more specific info. Thanks for sharing this one, Ira--the jingle is gonna stick in my head for a while!

  • Dealer looks like Ernest Borgnine...

  • @altobiotero The candy seller appears to be actor Jack Collins--a character actor who did a lot of sitcom work in the 1960s and 1970s. If you search Google Images with his name and either "Bewitched" or "Brady Bunch," you should be able to find pix of him to see the similarity to the man in this commercial.

  • Love this!
