  • I love this song with just piano! I just wish the video quality was better because its so gorgeous!

  • Pooh on all you with the negative comments!

Singing is the most beautiful, innocent, and unifying thing we do as humans, and you should never forget that. Blessings on all who participated!

  • I hear the dynamics but the vowel placements that you guys have are horrible. Do they not discuss pronounciation and vowel shaping in any state besides Texas?

  • This song is amazing(: i sang it in my honor choir. and it gave everyone chills.

  • P.S. I was a second alto in this song and I think it kicked ass. If you have some criticism for this video, you should've been there in person. It was amazing. The audio it was filmed on was obviously horrid. Blame the camera. Not the choir.

  • I think that if the director hadn't been there this song would have been a total disaster. There is no emotion or dynamics. The tempo changes a couple of times which is good but like I said it's because of the director. It seems like they're shouting it at him to be quite honest.

  • @michellemybellelove I hear the dynamics perfectly. The director is a chick.

  • they need to watch the dynamics and vowels and put more emotion into it. =/ but it's okay. sc allstate made this song magical this year

  • I was in that choir :) Soprano 1 :D

  • kentucky has the best singers ever i know this because im one of them lol

  • I would almost agree , but I would have to say it's Florida. Not because I'm one of them, but it's proven.lol

  • WOW!!! this is the BEST performance on Youtube!!! Thank you for sharing! God Bless!

  • I loved when we sang this song...LOVED LOVED it...

it was fun being apart of this group

  • Were singing this song in a march

  • To all the people who watch these (and other choral and vocal recordings) videos: Is it really necessary to knock other groups just to elevate yourself? This is a wonderful performance! It's not fair to compare it to TMEA's version because it's not a pro recording and accompanied (expertly!) by piano, not orchestra. GREAT, great job ladies. This piece takes my breath away.

  • who's the composer of this music?

  • Gweneth Walker

  • It doesn't matter who's singing, everytime I hear this song it takes my breath away.

You all did a beautiful job.

  • you guys hold the last note for two measures too long, but other than that you guys are good. I would rate you guys are 3.

  • no they dont if you have ever sung this piece they sing the notes perfectly the way they are supposed to be held. 4 beats per measure and there were 6 measures with formattas. you do the math. they did it right,

  • Not trying bein rude but no state choir compares to Texas.

  • florida is the best! really

  • ur rite florida is the best...

  • i agree go florida and go olympia bella voce!!!!!!!

  • olympia hs?mr jackson is a good teacher..

  • hes my favorite =]

  • I am going to be rude. But to butterycat. You can't compare the two unless you've seen them both live. Because this isn't a professional recording like the Texas one. The sound quality isn't the same.

And it's pretty obvious that this choir doesn't have the same instruments in the background which does change the sound.

  • I completely agree! texas is the best. we're not a bunch of hicks as everyone thinks we are. Our choir is amazing... i hope to be in it this year for my last year

  • Hey guys,..which state is this Kansas or Kentucky?

It was pretty good, the alto two sounded like men!!

I likesd it, but i wish that it wasn't sooo loud and it seemed like the alto s were more concerned with getting the low pitches out than actually working on tone and blend and finessing.

  • This setting of this e.e. cummings poem is in fact composed by Gwyneth Walker. Eric Whitacre composed a different setting of the same poem.

  • It's nice to be reminded how fortunate we are to live in a country with such a wonderful and continuing non-professional choral tradition.

  • non-professional?

  • We sang this song. I loved it.

  • Thank You...

  • it's too slow!!! I realize that every chord is phenomenal, but too much time, you lose the audience... the choir i'm in right now has been doing this song all year long, and it's absolutely fantastic!

  • this is awesome!!! Although there are a few alto's that should not be in choir. sorry, truth hurts, but those alto's are ruining the piece for me.

  • I sort of agree...

Compared to my choir, they sound...er, manly. ;[

  • Yay KMEA All-State!!

I was totally in the TTBB Choir, and you all were totally amazing... O.o

  • I'm an old veteran of All State. Well not real old. But I was in the 2004-2005 KMEA All State Men's Chorus one year. Does anyone have footage of that? Or know what songs we sang? Please, you'd make this old young man happy if you did.

  • gwynyth walker is an incredible composer. how wonderful it is to see so many young women collaborate in making art so beautifully.

  • this is eric whitacre's piece...

  • no, not this arrangement. this arrangement of the poem is gwynyth walker's (i know because I've accompanied a choir performing it)

  • i've performed it too...are both names on the music? that's so weird...

  • you are amazing!!;)

  • thank you so much for putting all of these up!! i'm so glad i got to hear us!!

  • This was one of my favorites that we performed! I loved the ending. Thanks for posting it!!!

  • wonderfully fantastic
