To be blunt, this actually isnt that hard to do because its just easy break beats. Not much technique or rudimental drumming... which is what drumming is really about. There are bay area middle schools that put on way harder shows than this easy stuff.

ok then why dont you compare these high schools to the ones only an hour away like foothill HS in the east bay or vallejo HS, or fairfield HS up north. I've seen middle schools play better than these "drum corps". What they should do is hire appropriate instructors that are more creative,artful and knowledgeable about percussive arts. If only they had better instructors...

there are no instructors. all beats are made by students and there is only 3 months of preparation before competition. basically no one has drumming experience b4 joining the team

Liberty Bell Competition used to hire military trained officers who specialized in army corps style drumming and marching. Now a days, they get judges whose focus is marching band style. There is a big difference. That is the truth.
