  • How on earth coud ANYONE dislike this?! Glenn Miller had pure talent! And I will always be sad that I can never see him live!

My fav is Little Brown jug but they are all beautiful.

  • I absolutely love Glenn Miller but this is my all-time favourite tune of his. Love it! :D

  • To the one who posted this Glenn Miller audio: Is this truly the Glenn Miller Orchestra? Although the band is good, I detected some articulations that the GMO would probably not have done. I'm simply curious.

  • @MrDogpaw It's certainly not Glenn Miller and his orchestra!

  • Comment removed

  • @MrDogpaw It's not the original band.

  • This song reminds me of how victorous american soldiers are in WWII!!

  • @davgard1960

    Agreed.

  • just love this were has all this music gone. This is when music, was music.

  • @jonthepon666

Pretty much any early jazz like Benny Goodman, Miles Davis, and all those big old jazz names, those are where true music reside.

  • The Glenn Miller Story" was a delightful movie that went off at an angle from the real life of GM. I have a live NBC/Mutual Radio broadcast from 5 December 1939 with Glenn and the band playing "Little Brown Jug" at the Meadowbrook in NJ. Five years before he went missing. He also plays it again on radio with the AAF Band in 1943. The movie genially shuffled the facts and retained his charm. They had to make a movie that was entertaining. His tone and style are very present in the '54 movie.

  • Agree with Kate i'm 17, from Ireland and learnin the sax.. Glenn is the the real King!:-) V excited when i saw new cd of his stuff out yday so will be gettin that for my summer listening! :-D

  • This wasn't one of Glenn Miller's favorite songs, but of his wife! He hated the song.

  • @tastenschwein1991 That is true. Glenn did hate the song! I love the movie version when his wife was always trying to get him to play it. One time he responded by saying: "Ha, Ha,Ha, Ho, Ho, He -this is the only Little Brown Jug you ll ever get from me!" as he hands her a miniature little brown jug. Then when he was declared missing and presumed dead, his orchestra played that song for his wife. Very tearful. Glenn Miller was one of the greatest musicians and composers from that era...

  • this is NOT glenn miller!!!!!!!!

  • You say it's one of Glen Miller's favorite songs, but it wasn't. He actually hated Little Brown Jug, but his wife loved it. He made this for his wife when he was over in Europe during the war.

  • His wife was the one who loved it and he only played it for her.

  • @afigurl632 That was pure fiction for the film!

  • @afigurl632 The arrangement was done by Bill Finnegan in 1939, before Miller even dreamed of going to Europe. More Hollywood fiction!

  • this never fails to put a smile on my face! if only people made music this well today! kate 21 england

  • @kateypie1 i second that

  • @kateypie1 have you ever listened to The Brian Setzer Orchestra or The Squirrel Nut Zippers? Both play swing in the style of the big bands of the late 30's and the 40's.

  • @bigdogdad59

Brian Setzer is more swingbilly, this is pure swing. Both great in their own ways!

  • @moggie58wa

OK, I can see that. No argument from me.

  • All seine songs waren Hits

und sind es auch heute noch

  • Jimmy Stewart did a good job on the Glenn Miller story. I like the part when the air raid sirens go off and the band still plays when everyone ducked for cover.

  • @casketkey Yes! I just watched that movie for the first time last night. And, the story behind Glenn Miller's arrangement of Little Brown Jug as the movie portrays it, is so touching.

  • @casketkey That was a great scene, casket, but another one I liked was when he turned "St. Louis Blues" into a march, putting smiles on the faces of several hundred parading soldiers. Funny how we remember so many of these magical movie moments forever. Good movies and great actors!

  • @casketkey There is another version of this from the New Glenn Miller Orchestra- this is still my favorite version (scratchy recording and all).

  • @casketkey that was the best

  • kool thanx for posting glenn miller luz him! =) ur great!
