  • I remember going there with a family firend, as a kid, as he delivered wood for the Bush Beast. Was annoyed when the NSW Govt in their infinite stupidity sold it to Chinese developers. It's now a major industrial area with places like LG and Asic having large warehouses located there. If you are ever in Sydney you can still drive past and "feel the ghosts" as it were, just head along the M7 or Wallgrove Rd toward the M4.

  • of course the place is shut down now a days, i never went cos these rides just dont do anything for me lol

  • lol i remember this ad from when i was staying at my sisters place in sydney back in 87!!

  • It was an expensive day out but enjoyed it every year. Shame I can't take my kids there. The bush beast used to shake because it was all timber. The best memories

  • I liked the part where they said "to much fun"

  • I loved that place,...too much land and not enough wonder though.

    Still a shame it closed

  • Love all you folks out there being ignorant. I think you'll find that nobody went to Wonderland anymore, it became too costly to run and they had no choice but to sell. If you could see even half of what was on the maintenance side of their rides whilst still operational, you'd shit bricks.

  • Good song in the commercial

  • then fine I wont go >:(

  • I was groped at wonderland by scooby..lol

  • This is the only park in Australia that had serious sized coasters. We need a coaster park in Australia badly!

  • It might be too much fun to have in one day, but i wish i could atleast TRY one more time... :'(

  • No more hugs from Yogi, Snagglepuss or Fred or Huckleberry, no more Demon, River Rapids...fuck you Malaysia

  • i fucking agree with you! they take our fucking park! i gotta go to fucking luna park which is fucking shit. or jamberoo which is as awesome as wonderland. :)

  • Just found out that Australia's Wonderland was heavily modeled after Canada's Wonderland......my home theme park. Even though CW is still standing, it doesn't have the same magic it had back in the day. They pretty much cleared out all things Hanna-Barbera........save for Scooby-Doo. And bit by bit, they've been removing some of the older rides due to lack of land. I just thought it was neat that there was a carbon copy of Canada's Wonderland somewhere. Shame AW closed though...

  • your mother looks like a theme park for pussies and faggots.

    mother fucker.

  • LOL, is that all you have. You must have spent too much time at Wonderland.

  • it looks like a huge shopping complex is being built where the old site was at the junction of the M7(wallgrove road) and M4.

  • Yeah, like we need another shopping complex! Bring Wonderland back, I say!

  • Nah, It's Factories & LG There Now. If It Was A Giant Shopping Center You'd Feel A Bit Better, But No. They Had To Knock Down Wonderland So Some Asian Companies Could More Money. Pfft.

  • yes your right i just saw the big MYER sign when driving down the M4 onramp from the M7 one time. its apparently going to be a big warehouse complex.

  • I love Wonderland.... So many memories. Wish we could bring it back!!! Went to the site not long ago and you wouldnt know it even was there. Did find some old boats from one of the rides there... :(

  • gawd i hated the 80s

  • stuuf u malaysians u just made it nooo funn here at all. u shoooouuulldddd alll be f*ken ashamed of urselfs

  • lol sooo much fun its not funny!!! but now theres not much fun or no fun at all after they closed down. i was sooo un happy. now we r like the only ones n aussie with the crappiestt fun parks. all we got is jamberoo n there water makes our eyes soor i wrekon jamberoo shoold shut down n left wonderland there instead. ohh wlms wat do we do now

  • Does anyone have the old "Wouldn't it be wonderful if the world was wonderland" ad?

  • id like to hear it too - any progress?

  • @amphiprionocellaris wonderlands early 90's add

  • Yes, this was the sad compensating answer for the failed Disneyland Australia proposal of the 80s

  • Just to make it clear it wasn't ING who closed this park down, it was the Malaysian company Sunway who sold the park off as an industrial estate

  • I went to this park every weekend, I even went the day it closed, was so sad... must say when all the Hannah Barbera stuff was taken away was when the park went downhill... loved all the rides... and I don't recall seeing any of the rides at Knott's Berry Farm when I went last June, they have the reverse version of the Demon which I loved going on, that was about it.

  • the rides were sold to Asia and Knots Berry Farm in California, the roller costers were sold as scrap timber, Space probe 7 was damaged when it was torn down and scraped, Wonderland is now just dirt and an industrial estate is proposed to be built in early 2008, The original owners of Australias wonderland was Hong Kong Bank and and in 2000 they offloaded it to ING bank which ultimatly closed the park down.

  • OMG! I can't believe I found this. I am in this commercial as a little kid. I'm 4 years old. At the 25 second mark that is me on my Dad's shoulders.

My Dad was the rides manager at Wonderland for many years before the Wildlife Park opened and he was the Operations Manager of that.

I would go to Wonderland every weekend! It was awesome! Thanks to the people who uploaded this, you have made my day!

  • At 0:25 is that really you? No wonder I haven't seen this commerical on TV (because I wasen't born yet) until I watched it here.

  • sure is. I can't believe that someone had this and upped it to YouTube that is absolutely amazing.

Pity they tore the park down, it was so much fun.

  • They went broke because no one went there anymore.

  • we should protest to make a new wonderland becouse sydney pple should have some where to go on the holidays and weekends apart from lunnapark witch is a boring theme park wonderland is where i whent on my first rollercoaster and the rides there where awsome so we should protest to the goverment to make sydney a new theme park witch is big like wonderland was before i think every one in sydney whould whant a new theme park

  • I didn't know this place was demolished, damn it. I used to go to this place with my mum when I was little, but now I live Brisbane. I was planning on going on a holiday with some friends to Wonderland and see whats new. This sucks, one of my best childhood memories are now gone. Why was it demolished?

Let me know when you start that protest.

  • I loved that place also think i went about 15 times i went the first week when i was opened in 1985 i was 11. i checked it out on google earth GONE, Dam . sydney has no theme parks now well Luna Park that is crap

  • It still appears on G Earth because the image was taken back in mid 2002, but I can assure you that the park is now totally gone.

  • Cool i thought google earth was " Up to Date " i only ever ventured out that way and to go to wonderland, No need to go out there anymore. Shame, I loved that place and remember every little thing about the place

  • Money Money Money, offshore based owners who couldnt give a dam about anything other than their back pocket.
