  • (Reuters) - World number one Tiger Woods, who missed the cut at last week's Quail Hollow Championship, said he will not be fazed if his 258-week reign at the head of the rankings is ended by Phil Mickelson on this coming Sunday.

Yeah right Tiger with that ego of yours!!!

  • Knowing that his leg is broken, and his ligaments are torn, to do what he did, just to get to a playoff, then play FIVE pressure-packed rounds, walk thousands, and thousands of yards, and know that if he lost the playoff, all the pain and great shots in Round 3 would be for nothing........

I've never seen a competitor like him, or a performance like that.

    Probably never again.

HOPEFULLY a DVD detailing this championship will be made commercially available.

  • GO thai tiger wood

  • The Best Putter and Long Iron Player Ever..

Mentally Nobody ever Played Smarter Too.

And the time Saw him live actully nice young Man.. 3 more to tie Jack , Fore to Pass 20..

  • You are amazing TW! Great game!

  • 6 weeks off golf.

The field had a 6 week head start.

    Played with a bung knee.

Pulled off the greatest come back ever seen in golf.

Winning the 2008 US open against all odds.

Still the undesputed number 1 golfer in the world.

    Just uterly amazing.

  • Spot on, K-man.

  • i wouldnt considered the ranked number 1 player in the world to have won against all odds. The knee was bullshit, i had the same surgery on my knee and was out jogging within two weeks. notice how he only winced when the camera was on him.

  • i'm not trying to argue with you at all...but could you tell me exactly when the cameras are NOT on him? you're right about the odds...sure...good point...but, i dont really think you're his personal confidant, that he told you he winced for the cameras...did he tell you that?

you dont get that from watching the telecast do you?

    what's tommorow night's number?

  • Oh!!...I'm sorry jisim140, you are the greatest golfer in the world. DICKWAD!

  • He had the surgery on his knee about three times, we can't say his injury was the same as yours, and this is not what the knee doctors tell us. Besides, you are not practicing golf non stop and putting pressure on your knee and making your injuries worse. So is your comment fair, jm140?

  • that is total garbage. so are you saying that tiger is exagerating his injury even though he has just had surgery and is out for 9 months or so?

the camera is always on tiger on the golf course so to say he only winced when the camera was on him is ridiculous.

no other golfer could have won in tigers condition so instead of trying to make out woods was playing up his injury you should appreciate a great perfomance by a even greater golfer

  • what a great sportsman.injury and all he somehow earned a playoff!what a puT!!

  • Two eagles on the back nine when just trying to get back to level par!

  • lewis hamilton couldnt shine tigers shoes

  • Maybe Woods could polish Hamilton's racing car, while Hamilton cleans Woods' golf clubs?

  • Just reading comments, I'm not comparing the two but then again LH is only 23yrs old and has accomplished staggering stats for his age in his sport.

  • Tiger's state of mind is very much like Lewis Hamilton's. Are they the best sportsmen in the world at the moment? I think so.

  • Lewis Hamilton???? What has he won????

  • About as much as Woods had after being in the top league of his sport for so short a time. eg GP2 Championship = Golf Amateur Championship, several 2007/2008 Grand Prix wins = 1996-1997 golf tournament wins.

NB I refer to states of mind and skill at their sport at this point in time. Clearly, in terms of victories, we will need to wait until Hamilton is in his mid thirties to be able to compare and contrast accurately with Woods.

For the record, I believe Woods to be golfing genius.

  • Sorry but the two don't compare. By 23 years old Woods was ranked world number one by some margin and had been there for over a year and a half.
