this movie is amazing, but the trailer is very misleading. it makes it seem like mirabelle (claire danes) is having to choose between the two men when that's not really the case. and the songs (in order) are "consequence" by the notwist and "the sound of settling" by death cab for cutie. amazing trailer, amazing movie, amazing acting :)

this movie has became officially one of my favourites. it's one of those movies you watch from time to time, again and again , never getting sick of it. it brings solemn yet relief at times... i would say this is a comforting film. it's a simple, undisturbed reflection of human language.. and love.

I love this film too I am shocked that Steve and Claire didn't get Best Actor and Best Actress Oscar nominations for this film. Steve Martin was quite the romantic lead in this film. I've seen Steve in a number of films in my short life but this is clearly in my top 3 best Steve Martin films ever with Pink Panther and Roxanne. Shopgirl made me laugh and cry and Steve is the last person I would cast in a dramatic film but he really wowed me that someday could win an Oscar someday.

The novel is amazing I got it for Christmas and I love it. I have seen the film as well. Steve was so amazing in a very dramatic role. He always wanted to make epics like this after he left stand-up. He has done those both in comedy and in novellas like Shopgirl. Steve Martin is a genius.
