  • This song isn't about Indians, it's about every man who's worked for a living, every man who's struggled (and still struggles) for a living.

Times change, politics don’t and the drums are still beating.. God bless Johnny Cash.

  • "In our losing we found proudness in your winning you found shame"

  • Not just the most underrated song, it's one of the most underrated albums of all time!

  • WHY THIS ALBUM HAVE 2 PEOPLE WHO HATE EVERY SONG ON THIS ALBUM ?!!!

i need more arrow to kill them....

but i love this song and first love to singer...! but he was die... before i'm born...:(

  • Never heard this before. A great song.

  • Beautiful song. It is shameful what Native Americans had to go through.

  • @oguitar200 3 shortcomings of the US Constitution: 1. Should have granted full rights of citizenship to American Indians 2. Should have granted full rights of citizenship to women. 3. Should have outlawed slavery.

  • I'm in Australia , my mum painted a portrait of johnny cash & sent it to him , many yrs ago when i was a child , I'm now 50, in return MR cash sent mum a signed autograph of him self

  • i saw him when i was 12yrs old

  • My husband is 1/2 indian, cherokee and apache. It's imposible to trace his roots except through family stories. Too bad the Indians did now win. Americans destroy ANY race they deem unacceptable. Indians, african and others. How sad. Melting pot my ass. (sorry my spelling stinks)

  • @spsc1 seems it's more along the lines of 'rich people kill the poor who get in the way of control and profit' to me. i'm 1/4th caddo.

  • Reminds me so much of the book Education Of Little Tree.

  • I might be part Native American but I'am ashamed of what my white ancestors have done.

  • @MyUsername2668, your White ancestors fled Europe to escape the diabolical Inquisition which had tortured up to 68 million people to death. The Indian savages slaughtered the first Whites (who settled there in the hope that they could live in peace) and so I personally couldn't care less whether you're ashamed or not.

  • my father had his birthday on the 21st past..i said happy bday as the rains came down. I hear the drums and I dont put up with their shit, i Think im the worst in the place and they watch me, scold me, write me up, hate even approaching this crazy indian when they ask, and all that. but you know what..I hear the drums beyond the mountain.how ironic for what i do..yet i love what i do..the blood of the warrior runs in my veins still.. so happy b day dad. your son is still here.i hear u still.

  • native in my heart and blood and hella proud! hail from AZ! A! There are drums beyond the mountain and only I can hear..You want trouble ..bring it! :) Teach me Govt man...You aint shit,,even now you think me tame. uh huh..look at the color that runs in my bloodline... Crow, Navajo, Cherokee, Apache, Arapaho, Blackfoot, Pawnee, Come to our brotherhood.. proud of the faith where the eagle feather rides. UW

  • mix blood and proud Eastern Band Cherokee Nation

  • I come when they call me Billy , though Ive got an Indian name....HELL YA! I live this 100%!!!!!!!!!!!!! im proud of that. A!

  • @TheColinwebster ??? WTF??? Last time I checked there was a mix of people serving (and dying) in the U.S. military.

I was referring to native Americans.

Who said anything about Afghanistan or Iraq?

  • god damn,this is some tedious shit,man.

  • My uncle a few days ago when I went out to the desert to listen and spoke good words, after my talk he said just take their shit like water off a ducks back and keep my spirit up. But i said, its gets old and It gets frustrating...But im proud and I keep hearing the sound of the drums...sounds that ive never heard before in my beliefs and it feels good knowing I can hear them and no matter any of our backgrounds we can all share the sound of the drums if we really try...awesome words and true.

  • This ones for dad! gave em hell and we still do!

  • real bitter tears!

  • Great fucking lyrics here man

  • there is truth to this song but nobody relises it

  • When hear some people demanding rights and flagrantly shout about being "entitled" just because they're here in this land I can't help but think of the native American Indian.

    Strange days indeed!!

  • @dckab1 YET

  • Johnny Cash...

  • Great song!

    He sings true.

  • Only Johnny Cash album I own. I find it so truthfull about our Native Americans. Love it snd thank you for posting it.

  • this song is better by floyd red crew westerman

  • I can't believe ... there is only 23,105 views. This is sad.

  • this may be the most underrated song in history

  • @AmateurPhilosopher85 You are absolutley right. You have to listen to the words very carefully. There are even some funny lines in here if you listen closely enough.

  • @OnceUponATime315 IM DRUNK

  • Guys/Ladys im from Ulster but if any native americans would like to talk about there culture and school me in it id me flattered ive read a lot of stuff but ya n how it goes victors write history so its a load off crap theres 2 sides to every story and id love to listen to the oother sides story NO SURRENDER FOR GOD AND ULSTER

  • this might be my favorite one of his songs.

  • All of the American new countries have been founded on cementaries of masacred Indians. We now know thorugh archaeological finds that this New World was older than the Europeans imagined and wished, older than the old continent.

  • Does anyone know who does the cover of this song? The singer has a raspier voice...

  • Floyd Westerman or better known as Red Crow, you find him with his own songs on Youtube. Custer died for your sins, his first album, remastered and digitalized is here. The singer passed away last year. he recorded a whole album with Johnny Cash covers.

  • @supervenn from ling1114 johnny cash does this song

  • we only have these LPs and songs because John told columbia what he was doing, He had the vision and integrity like Edward R Murrow to tell corporate and Govs to go to hell-now look at who runs the world we are fucked as fucked as the music you have to listen on the radio and the news they make up on t.v. I could play John 48 hrs straight without any duplications- what do we hear? maybe a dozen. Im grateful to utube -watchout if some assholers like fox buys these sites up!!! ok america go to

  • I love this song. First heard it on Pandora, which has since pulled it from their playlist.

  • The album "Bitter Tears" has a special place in my collection. I purchased it (LP) soon after it was released.

Gypsy109, , there could certainly be some truth in your statement. Tho mostly white, I can certainly identify with the sentiments of the First Nations people.

  • In 500 yrs of fightin'

Not one Indian has turned white!

Maybe these plagues bringing american down (wars, high debt, high unemployment, etc.) are a karmic example of the "universe righting itself" for the bloody horrific way this country was founded.

  • I hope you find love and peace in your heart. I've read so much about the history of the Indians, and it's sad. But we all must move forward in brotherhood and humanity. And I am Palestinian and I know pain and displacement.

  • sad song :(

  • There is nothing better than 200 indians at a pow wow singing this song to a traditional drum ... or 10

  • iam going to get this album now

  • i would really love to meet a real american indian, and just sit and talk that would be just awsom

  • Thank-you ethanellingsen! I am in Minnesota, and I have lived here since 1990; my wife is a Minnesotan; and my children were born here. I love Minnesota and its people--fine people these Scandinavians.

  • @tomato6999

a REAL American Indian you would like to talk to? really? you would have to learn their Tribal Language like Lakota HELLO!!!

  • This is a great song. I grew up near Anadarko,Oklahoma. The indian captiol of the nation. I use to hear this song alot and it brings back some memories. They also have the world indian fair there every August.+
