I don't think she ever claimed to be a renowned opera singer. She's always just said she has a classically based voice, and puts her own spin on it....and that's exactly what she does. I don't think you can deny she has a beautiful tone to her voice, irrespective of what a trained opera singer might make of her technique...and she had a shed load of talent! Aesthetically she sounds amazing!

@ageordieboy She's certainly tried to sing oepra material. I don't think she has a "classically based" voice. I can also deny that she has a beautiful tone.Whatever voice she once might have had has been damaged by bad vocal habits an less that stellar technique. All types of singers, not just opera singers, should be taught to sing correctly, so they won't damage the voice. Does the name Bonnie Tyler ring a bell? A rock singer who ruined her voice by screaming and singing with bad technique.

She's just a little off in places. Other than that, the song really suits her voice, as she doesn't use nearly as much jaw vibrato as usual.

Love it! Exactly the right sound for this song and I will always associate it with Charlotte Church, no matter who else dares to take it on. Every note spot on - good job, early in the morning! - and a mean bit of piano playing from Mr. Darren Tate as well.

Your right high notes are easier for some singers to hit than others, especially with a head voice like hers. But, you can teach operetic sopranos to hit those notes with just as much ease. They may not be as light but just as relaxed. There is a lot of technique in opera and it can be taught. I am just now getting the technique for the highest notes and am able to hit them with ease.

You can't teach it. You have it or you don't. And she does have it.

@Foyder She still has an amazing voice, check her out singing "Pie Jesu" on Terry Wogan's radio show a couple of weeks ago, it's not her typical version more accoustic but you can tell she still has the voice.
