In Thailand when a member of the royal family goes on a ride everything shuts down and people all come to face the street in silence. I've been walking along there and all of the sudden the police roll up and stop traffic and the people know the king or princess is coming. It is pretty strange.

there was an interesting article about those limos. showing how heavily armored they are. a basic rifle really wouldnt do a damn thing. they didnt go into super detail about how much damage it could withstand (for obvious reasons) but its about as protected as you could get other than an actual tank haha

There are 4 limos because well in this case 2 are for the president and 2 are for the vice president. The other limo acts as a decoy and extra limo in case the other one breaks down.

@imzypops The President and Vice President always have EMS Paramedics in the motorcade. Each jurisdiction that has the ability to support the motorcade has a group of Paramedics cleared by the Secret Service, and trained to operate as part of the detail. Only those vetted by the Secret Service work on that detail.

@imzypops Ok, here's a little shock for ya. 80% of the "people in need" of EMS service, don't need it. (That is a matter of statistical fact...) EMS is the most abused public safety agency in the US. As far as it being a waste of an ambulance... Tell that to Reagan's Press Secretary, and the Secret Service Agents, and Police Officers who were shot and left on the sidewalk. I've been doing this for 27 years, and also as a member of the FDNY EMS Dignitary Protection Unit.

it's a joint potus/vp motorcade...happens when both the vp and potus are attending the same event in d.c. the 2 smaller limos (w/white vp flag) are the vp's (spare and primary) and the 2 larger limos (blue potus flag), often referred to as the beast, are the president's. the spare limos carry the vp/president's personal aide and military dr.

Man...they had everything except an M1-A1 tank in the motorcade...tax payers expense is at work here providing necessary protective security services for the President and Vice-President. The leader of the Free World should be encased in a coccoon of highly armed, highly trained Secret Service detail to prevent or stop any threat percieved or real.
