it will be a while before military robots become fully autonomous, if ever. I work on UAVs and I can tell you getting it to fly by itself is easy, getting it to know why its flying is the hard part. That's why sentry guns never gets used: its easy to point and shoot at anything that moves, its hard to make sure it knows who to shoot.
