A friend of mine and I are in the process of starting up a new channel and I'm sure you'll find the vids useful. Dave, if you have an IPhone or Android driven smart phone, you can load software on the phone to use it as a internet hot spot. Once that is done you can hook your laptop to the phone and boom internet access big-time!!! You will always know you have internet access when you know your phone can be used, wherever you are at. Thanks for doing what you do, it means alot to me and my boy.
Dave, I know you mention several they urine is sterile and that is true, however the longer that urine sits ,(outside your body), it is a great breeding ground for bacteria! Don't expect that urine to be sterile 8 hours later. Just an FYI in case someone thinks they can have a morning "tea party". Wastes on the urine include sugar and bacteria breed really well in sugar, so....I don't want to be a kill joy. So drink your pee while it's warm and don't drink your pee if you have already done
Hi Dave, I love these yurt vids. But btw, urine is sterile when it first comes out, but bacteria grows in it very quickly once it's outside the body. I think it would be better if you just used a bottle that would be more contained than a bucket.
Although I don't read the bible since I am muslim I do read the Quran every day which has similar stories and messages. As long as we all believe in something.

A great old movie starring Richard Harris was "Man in the Wilderness." The main character was mauled by a grizzly so his "friends" not only left him for dead,but also took his rifle and anything of value.The rest of the movie highlighted his survival skills after the bear attack and searching for his "friends" who left him in the wilderness with nothing but his clothes.He found a Bible and used the pages as kindling to save him from freezing during a blizzard.It truley is the "Good Book".
Hey Dave, I think it is totally cool how you read your Bible! The first time I heard you mention the bible was when you talked about the waterproof bible and about how you had a book coming out that was also waterproof. I ended up getting a close friend the camo version of that bible because he goes all over the world on missions and stuff. what type of lining makes up the walls of the yurt? You mentioned earlier you placed emergency blankets on the ceiling. Can you show us how you attached them?

I always try to take my Bible with me when I'm going into the woods. I remember hunting Clinch Mountain in Hancock Co. Tenn. for Spring Turkey. And though I had killed many deer, I was yet to get that illusive Tom. I had one gobbling like crazy, but he hung up and went silent. So did I. I decided to read the Book of Ester in the Bible (and in doing so, learned my secret to killing those delicious birds. Here he came with a look on his face that said; 'Where'd she go?' LOL BOOM! He was delicious.
you know if you get warm from holding a bottle of urine wouldn't you also be warm by pooping in one of your ziplock bags and holding it next to your face? mmmmm warm and soft. :) then you can reuse the ziplock bag provided you sterilize it... almost as clean as pee!

actually urine picks up bacteria in the urethra on the way out. it is only sterile inside the body. of course you are safe only storing it for a few hours but if it sets more than 24 hours it is certainly not sterile it picks up bacteria in the bucket as well so it may be good to clarify.

Dave, something you might want to try for your yurt is to build a rocket stove. It's so efficient that you can heat your whole yurt with what amounts to sticks, and the exhaust is basically just CO2 and water. Do a search on youtube for rocket stove and you will see what I mean.
@snappydog357 No reason to get another. Remember, the goal is portable equipment. He could have lots of other goodies, but they would not be portable..
I believe in the beard, keep it as long as you can. I cant tell you how many times mine has started good only to have to shave it off for one reason or another.

Listen when you go outside in the night in extreme cold (not 25 degree weather) with minimal clothing only to urinate you will get chilled, once chilled you begine to lose calories, also with that chill comes a degrading of cognitive reasoning, once thats gone its easy to get turned around and lost even if your hooch is only yards away. We all know what happens to the mind once you realize your lost. So trust me just get over it and piss in your water bottle. In the summer do what ever you want.

Hey Dave, I have all of my knives sharpened at the local army surplus place since I have such a hard time getting the right angle while I sharpen them. Do you have any suggestions for those of us that are sharpening challenged? Also one other question about wool blankets I know you have answered tons of them. I am 6ft 4 inches tall and sometimes I feel it's too small anyway I was a bit cold the last time with my military wool 80/20. Would sewing 2 of them together increase the warmth?

A great old movie starring Richard Harris was "Man in the Wilderness." The main character was mauled by a grizzly so his "friends" not only left him for dead,but also took his rifle and anything of value.The rest of the movie highlighted his survival skills after the bear attack and searching for his "friends" who left him in the wilderness with nothing but his clothes.He found a Bible and used the pages as kindling to save him from freezing during a blizzard.It truley is the "Good Book".

Hey Dave, I think it is totally cool how you read your Bible! The first time I heard you mention the bible was when you talked about the waterproof bible and about how you had a book coming out that was also waterproof. I ended up getting a close friend the camo version of that bible because he goes all over the world on missions and stuff. He could use a durable bible, plus he didn't want to have his newborn son upchuck on the one he had. lol

I always try to take my Bible with me when I'm going into the woods. I remember hunting Clinch Mountain in Hancock Co. Tenn. for Spring Turkey. And though I had killed many deer, I was yet to get that illusive Tom. I had one gobbling like crazy, but he hung up and went silent. So did I. I decided to read the Book of Ester in the Bible (and in doing so, learned my secret to killing those delicious birds. Here he came with a look on his face that said; 'Where'd she go?' LOL BOOM! He was delicious.

you know if you get warm from holding a bottle of urine wouldn't you also be warm by pooping in one of your ziplock bags and holding it next to your face? mmmmm warm and soft. :) then you can reuse the ziplock bag provided you sterilize it... almost as clean as pee!

Also my wife and I recently purchased some stiens of alpaca yarn were gona have a relative make some hats and etc.. can you describe to us the diference between sheeps wool and alpaca wool. I think there can be something learned from it :-) keep warm brother.

actually urine picks up bacteria in the urethra on the way out. it is only sterile inside the body. of course you are safe only storing it for a few hours but if it sets more than 24 hours it is certainly not sterile it picks up bacteria in the bucket as well so it may be good to clarify.
i am picturing some poor fool defending a stinky bucket in the corner. "but sweetie, it's sterile I swear." xD great vids man. thanks.
oh yah, diluted 10X with water it makes a perfect plant fertilizer too.

Dave, something you might want to try for your yurt is to build a rocket stove. It's so efficient that you can heat your whole yurt with what amounts to sticks, and the exhaust is basically just CO2 and water. Do a search on youtube for rocket stove and you will see what I mean.

Listen when you go outside in the night in extreme cold (not 25 degree weather) with minimal clothing only to urinate you will get chilled, once chilled you begine to lose calories, also with that chill comes a degrading of cognitive reasoning, once thats gone its easy to get turned around and lost even if your hooch is only yards away. We all know what happens to the mind once you realize your lost. So trust me just get over it and piss in your water bottle. In the summer do what ever you want.

Hey Dave, I have all of my knives sharpened at the local army surplus place since I have such a hard time getting the right angle while I sharpen them. Do you have any suggestions for those of us that are sharpening challenged? Also one other question about wool blankets I know you have answered tons of them. I am 6ft 4 inches tall and sometimes I feel it's too small anyway I was a bit cold the last time with my military wool 80/20. Would sewing 2 of them together increase the warmth?

I look forward to your yurt and long hunter videos every night this has to be the most interesting bushcraft videos I've ever watched. I'm very interested in the cooking,We take so much for granted these days. You should try mixing a little honey in with your dough. Make two thin layers then add some honey on one and put the second on top then roll the two together gently and bake. Honey never goes bad.
