  • All your videos rock man thanks i really enjoy em and find em useful

  • super videos!!! thank you for this!

  • really diggin this series. I've looked into getting a yurt and a small piece of property in Montana, how well does the yurt retain heat and shed snow?

  • Dave, great vids. I'm getting inspired to get a tipi for out back. Any thoughts on tipis versus yurts. Thanks, Ed.

  • @Survive2Day p.s. I live in Northern IL and would like to use it in the winter.

  • wow, I got 10 minutes of black video after the 7 or so minutes of real video O_o

  • You're funny.

  • Hey, Dave,.. Merry Christmas to you and your family...

seeing you answering the comments means twice as much the vids ur doing (or more?!)

but its really, really funny.... lol

keep on the all the good work and filming..!!! lovin it!! Regards from Germany..ü

  • I wish that i would have known about your channel a long time ago because my wife and i love watching you and Cody on TV!!!!!

  • Love the vids and your connection with your fans thanks Dave and keep up the great work

  • dave i'd realy like it if you could make some vidios on how to make leather and furs to make like what you have on the ground there in your yurt because i'v seen a few vidios on you tube about how to do it and im still rather confused.

  • is your titanium spork made by snow peak?

  • I enjoy the series, keep up the good work.

  • how come this video is 17 minutes long?

  • ironically, my connection is also being really slow while i watch you have a problem with your connection. the video keeps buffering. great stuff though man, keep it up.

  • And if I don't change ur mind then at least listen to Isa ( Jesus). Love thy neighbor. Love all people. No need for hatred. It isn't religion that starts wars and kills people it's ignorance and hatred. I love Jesus, Dave, America, Bosnia (my home country), Muhammed, God, and my family and friends. And all other people on the planet earth that God has created for us and provided us with wat we need to live.

  • @bosnakedisniksic can you please shut up about the religion crap, comment something regarding the video

  • @bosnakedisniksic Religion absolutely starts wars.Read the Bible. Jesus really didnt like the Pharisees, who were uber religions people. . Religion=Bad. Spirituality(Jesus)= Good. Jesus didnt say one word about starting a religion.

  • And Christianity and the bible has been a sources of hatred just like the Quran. No need to play innocent. All religions can be used for evil by the wrong people but it can also be used for good. Dave I love ya but some of these people need to fucking calm down and just love all people. And when the Quran says wat is in 3:85. Those that don't believe in god will be the losers. That is true they are the losers they miss out on the beauty of god and heaven and go to hell.it isn't violent.

  • Ok sorry for ever bringing up the quran and Islam. But I did not say anything horrible about Christianity so why do you people say horrible things about Islam. I love all people and we are all part of an abrahamic religion. Most of the text people are using is from the hadiths. Different from the Quran. Hadiths is wat people think muhammed did and said and some are from untrustworthy sources. I don't believe all of the hadiths.

  • Dave if I wasn't already one of your biggest fans I am now after hearing your comments about reading your Bible! God Bless you Dave, Keep up the good work, you are an inspiration to all of us.

  • @38pLace i doubt he'll just show you how to make one of the yurts he's selling for $2k+ but there are a number of videos online and materials to read up on that you should find helpful. A friend of mine and I are in the process of starting up a new channel and I'm sure you'll find the vids useful. Subscribe to my current channel, and when we get the new videos filmed and ready, i'll post a video "promoting" the new channel.

  • pall mall blues on the stand in the beginning? ;)

  • keep up the good vids and can you make a vid on how to make the yurt

  • i love the videos keep them up and let me know if you guys are ever around the mi area

  • Dave, thanks for all your teaching. Sharpening my knives is how I relax and unwind from daily stress. I really like the mora knives. I keep hunting for the video where you modify your but I am having a hard time finding it. Do you still carry one like you did in dual survival? Thanks for every video you post!!!

  • LOL thanks for reading the comments, It sounds as if the bucket Latrine is what most people are wondering about LOL. It's hard to say Keep up the good work without sounding like everyone Else. But keep up the good work. So is Cody invited to your house for Christmas. I could only Imagine how much Bickering there would be on who get's to carve the turkey with a Flint rock. . LOL. as I said before this is the best Infomercial for a Yurt Ive Ever seen. LOL

  • Dave, Is that cigarettes in your chest pouch? I didn't know that you smoke? ;) Of course, i aint sure that it is cigarettes by any means :D

  • Very cool regarding the Bible!

  • Thanks for all your uploads good Sir!

  • Dave, if you have an IPhone or Android driven smart phone, you can load software on the phone to use it as a internet hot spot. Once that is done you can hook your laptop to the phone and boom internet access big-time!!! You will always know you have internet access when you know your phone can be used, wherever you are at. Thanks for doing what you do, it means alot to me and my boy.

  • @QuiChiYang2 It will be very slow for up/download and DATA costs are high. It's ok for general browsing though.

  • how does the hard tack taste?

  • Do you smoke i saw a pack of cigs in your yurt vid

  • @wyattricerice Yes he smokes

  • i like your videos, but you are uploading 17 min videos with most of them blank, or black

  • @rogerpemberton just watch the next video, and stop being one of the million other people who just complain about stupid shit.

  • @CyrilODST now i have to look for rogerpemberton

  • who cares about all this religious bullshit. just watch the videos.

  • islam is a death cult.

  • @sniper4202003 truth^^

  • Dave, I know you mention several they urine is sterile and that is true, however the longer that urine sits ,(outside your body), it is a great breeding ground for bacteria! Don't expect that urine to be sterile 8 hours later. Just an FYI in case someone thinks they can have a morning "tea party". Wastes on the urine include sugar and bacteria breed really well in sugar, so....I don't want to be a kill joy. So drink your pee while it's warm and don't drink your pee if you have already done

  • Hi Dave, I love these yurt vids. But btw, urine is sterile when it first comes out, but bacteria grows in it very quickly once it's outside the body. I think it would be better if you just used a bottle that would be more contained than a bucket.

  • Can you do a show on making more primative traps? How make them in detail.

  • Keep these videos comming, great Hard Tack video and the stove and yuks info.

  • Although I don't read the bible since I am muslim I do read the Quran every day which has similar stories and messages. As long as we all believe in something.

  • @bosnakedisniksic the Bible doesnt preach hate...the Quran does, dont ever compare the quran to the holiness of the Bible.

  • Comment removed

  • @sabaqat okay...first off, i have a Bachelors in Theology and an Associates in counter terrorism from Liberty University, so we can debate all day of you can keep up. I have read the whole Bible multiple times and the Quran twice. So, way to take the Bible verse from 1st Samuel WAAAAY out of context, you try to make it seem like Jesus said that...which he didn't, it was Samuel commanding Saul to kill. If im not mistaken, Saul and Samuel are an Islamic profit too?? Hmm.....interesting ALSO...

  • @sabaqat Also, that is from the Old Testament, true believers in Christ follow the New Testament, not saying that the OT isnt relevant but it is less important because Jesus fulfills the OT and washes the sins. Now...i think your History books must be different than mine, last time I checked, the Holocaust, Hiroshima, Nagasaki did not happen in the name of Jesus Christ...as a matter of fact I cant think of any, you could MAYBE say the crusades..now for attacks in the name of Allah...long list..

  • @sabaqat Muhammad said this, “Whoever changes his Islamic religion, kill him.” (Hadith Al Buhkari vol. 9:57), now for a lesson in the Quran,

-3:85 “Whoever seeks other than Islam as his religion, it will not be accepted from him, and in the hereafter he will be with the losers"

Slay the idolators wherever ye find them, and take them captive, and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture as believe not in Allah nor the last Day

  • @sabaqat I have plenty more quotes straight from the Quran that are filled with hate towards women and the "infidels." Stop trying to pretend like it is a peaceful religion when it is all about hate and all you care about is the spread of Islam even to the point where you will kill. Islam is from the pit of Hell and you will find out one day if you do not change your ways. "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6

  • A great old movie starring Richard Harris was "Man in the Wilderness." The main character was mauled by a grizzly so his "friends" not only left him for dead, but also took his rifle and anything of value. The rest of the movie highlighted his survival skills after the bear attack and searching for his "friends" who left him in the wilderness with nothing but his clothes. He found a Bible and used the pages as kindling to save him from freezing during a blizzard. It truley is the "Good Book".

  • awesome, I try to read the Bible before bed as well. :-)

  • Hey Dave, I think it is totally cool how you read your Bible! The first time I heard you mention the bible was when you talked about the waterproof bible and about how you had a book coming out that was also waterproof. I ended up getting a close friend the camo version of that bible because he goes all over the world on missions and stuff. He could use a durable bible, plus he didn't want to have his newborn son upchuck on the one he had. lol

  • I'm glad to hear you read the Bible

  • what state do u live in?

  • @busenitzsucks he lives in ohio

  • hey dave, just got a lanskys diamond rod and love it! puts a good workin edge on some pretty dang dull knives with just a few passes and much more carryable than any stone i've seen. thanks for the info buddy; love the vids! -John

  • p.s. I really respect your bible reading routine brother. I do the same and pray that we always would.

  • what type of lining makes up the walls of the yurt? You mentioned earlier you placed emergency blankets on the ceiling. Can you show us how you attached them?

  • Dave, I dig the beard, even if it's a temp. You kinda look like Jeff Bridges, haha!

  • Dave whats your overall opinion on moras and whats your favorit mora i know you like them i have a few of them but im looking into buying 3 or 4 more and want your opinion

  • so are you shitting in that bucket too? c'mon that's nasty! jk daaaaave :]

  • just wondering what kind of head lamp that is? I have been looking for one lately.

  • Am I the only one having a problem with these videos freezing and buffering?

  • @unspokendegree me too.

  • @unspokendegree Shit i thought it was my computer.I was about ready to blow a hole in it.But yeah i'm having problems to

  • These are so fun to watch........I'm a chocolate freak too.

  • I always try to take my Bible with me when I'm going into the woods. I remember hunting Clinch Mountain in Hancock Co. Tenn. for Spring Turkey. And though I had killed many deer, I was yet to get that illusive Tom. I had one gobbling like crazy, but he hung up and went silent. So did I. I decided to read the Book of Ester in the Bible (and in doing so, learned my secret to killing those delicious birds. Here he came with a look on his face that said; 'Where'd she go?' LOL BOOM! He was delicious.

  • you know if you get warm from holding a bottle of urine wouldn't you also be warm by pooping in one of your ziplock bags and holding it next to your face? mmmmm warm and soft. :) then you can reuse the ziplock bag provided you sterilize it... almost as clean as pee!

  • great videos, mobile internet sucks never a good signal when you need it and the bucket is a very good idea when its cold.

  • it's ok to shit in the bucket, your a man. btw keep up the beard

  • Hey Dave, really interesting video series. Are you able to put some rock or metal around the bottom of your stove in order to make a more efficient stove, you know just leave the front open or even close that off to regulate temps

  • why would people think he is crapping in the bucket? oh come on guys!

  • I meant skiens not stiens lol

  • Also my wife and I recently purchased some stiens of alpaca yarn were gona have a relative make some hats and etc.. can you describe to us the diference between sheeps wool and alpaca wool. I think there can be something learned from it :-) keep warm brother.

  • Hey dave. I was wondering bro, do you make your own wool winter gear or do you purchase it. If you make it what do you use. If not what do you recomend? And what's the ball park cost either way. Thanks bro. Stay warm out there.

  • actually urine picks up bacteria in the urethra on the way out. it is only sterile inside the body. of course you are safe only storing it for a few hours but if it sets more than 24 hours it is certainly not sterile it picks up bacteria in the bucket as well so it may be good to clarify.

i am picturing some poor fool defending a stinky bucket in the corner. "but sweetie, it's sterile I swear." xD great vids man. thanks.

oh yah, diluted 10X with water it makes a perfect plant fertilizer too.

  • I for one love the bucket, Dave.

  • Awesome stuff Dave! More vids, more beard!

  • you have inspired me to have a go building a yurt of my own , so next years project is to build the yurt and the stove and every thing else that has to go in to it like beds and boxes, thank for everything and keep up the good work and i well try and send you pic of the build...

  • Hey ya Dave, love the videos man! I actually have two questions. 1. Are you going to be doing more shows of D.S. with Cody or is that all over? 2. Have you thought about my suggestion of using a cutting torch lighter with cotton balls as a fire starting system? I have tried the mini mag, steel wool and snare wire bit. It works great.

  • Sorry, Dave, I pooped in the bucket.

  • Dave, you da Man!

  • Dave these videos make me want to break out the bighorn tent and m1950

  • Dave, when you have time in the Yurt some night, will you do a biography for us. I am interested to know your history and how you ended up where you are with the Pathfinder school. On a side note, tell us what some of your tattoos represent too :--))

  • Pert Plus shampoo for the beard and Miss Iris will be pleased with the softness. Great series! Keep them up!

  • Dave, something you might want to try for your yurt is to build a rocket stove. It's so efficient that you can heat your whole yurt with what amounts to sticks, and the exhaust is basically just CO2 and water. Do a search on youtube for rocket stove and you will see what I mean.

  • Where did you get the bunk you are sleeping on and who makes it? thanks

  • @Justin5king they sell them at any wal-mart you can get that option for about 30-40 bucks and an upgraded one for about 40-50

  • @BareGrizz thanks, i was just wondering cause i got one from there but it did not have the gomits.

  • Thank you Dave for showing us that you read ur Bible!!!! Praise God!!!!

  • daves a christian hajliluya!! :D lol

  • i really like how you show how it really is in there for you. and yes, i was 1 of the people asking about the tile floor haha

  • Buckets are cheap so why not just get another bucket?

  • @snappydog357 No reason to get another. Remember, the goal is portable equipment. He could have lots of other goodies, but they would not be portable..

  • Good stuff Dave. You're living the life man. Don't cut the beard. Women really like it contrary to what that say(coming from a fellow beard wearer)

  • Dave how can I apply to be a volunteer in your SAN project?

  • Thank you for making practical videos and good suggestions. We do appreciate the work and time put into this.

  • I believe in the beard, keep it as long as you can. I cant tell you how many times mine has started good only to have to shave it off for one reason or another.

  • Great series! Hope you do more vids on food like the hard tack vid.:)

  • Great stuff, Dave, cool way to answer your questions, very entertaining ; ) Thanks and have a great time, Sepp

  • Thanks Dave for hitting me back about the tops knife view, I'm really looking forward for the review. I love your videos and support you man never stop doing what your doing! -Phil-

  • looks like ya might need a bigger stove my friend one that will hold wood all night

  • Listen when you go outside in the night in extreme cold (not 25 degree weather) with minimal clothing only to urinate you will get chilled, once chilled you begine to lose calories, also with that chill comes a degrading of cognitive reasoning, once thats gone its easy to get turned around and lost even if your hooch is only yards away. We all know what happens to the mind once you realize your lost. So trust me just get over it and piss in your water bottle. In the summer do what ever you want.

  • Great video Dave , looks bloody cold there .

  • Great series Dave

  • Love the wool power undies can't wait till mine get here diet know they were not 100% wool they are like 69% wool but sure they will keep me warm still

  • I am a long time subscriber and a huge fan. I credit you for helping me change my life for the better. A few years ago when I turned 50, like most men, I reevaluated my life and found myself lacking in many areas. I searched the internet for something, not sure what exactly I was looking for but I found it in your videos. Thank you.

  • internet dave? come on, you might as well be at home. lol

  • Enjoyed as always........Specially while I'm suppose to be working.......lol

  • thanks

    regards

    streetartist

  • thanks Dave.

  • Thanks Dave, you are a valuable asset to anyone interested in learning self reliance.

  • Lovin' the fact you read your Bible every night before bed and don't care who knows it. God bless ya brother.

  • Hey Dave, I have all of my knives sharpened at the local army surplus place since I have such a hard time getting the right angle while I sharpen them. Do you have any suggestions for those of us that are sharpening challenged? Also one other question about wool blankets I know you have answered tons of them. I am 6ft 4 inches tall and sometimes I feel it's too small anyway I was a bit cold the last time with my military wool 80/20. Would sewing 2 of them together increase the warmth?

  • bless you and mrs iris for all you do and glad to see you mention the Bible. most people seem to be scared of offending someone by mentioning relegion. may God Bless yall in all that you do thanks brother

  • Dave, you will make a test like in this yurt on your wiki?

  • In the spirit of christmas... You need to put a santa hat on when you are wearing the glasses... I'm having yurt envy ;)

  • Dave, a wifi signal repeater or a directional antenna to boost the gain of your wifi signal would be cheap and very effective.

  • Also have a Suggestion to Power the laptop Car Battery / 12v to 110V Ac Adapter / Solar Panel to keep the Charge that should set you up.

  • Lol; is that a pack of pall malls on the table there? Good woodsmen smoke pipes!

  • Dave You might need to get a High Gain Wifi Booster on your Router you could get them on Newegg .

In Newegg click Computer Hardware / Networking / Wireless Networking / Wireless Accessories.

  • Hey Dave. These video's are awesome. I really appreciate all that you do and might i say. in this world of political correctness and over reactions. i love that you told us you read your Bible each night before you go to bed. You're the man. Thanks Dave. God Bless.

p.s. i wish people would leave you alone about the bucket. it really isn't a big deal.

    thanks again Dave.

  • love the series Dave! by the way my girlfriend thinks your cute

  • Dave is the ultimate Santa!

  • Dave can you do a review on the tops pathfinder knife please? I asked a couple of times already

  • @nbandpa We have a new uncoated version I will be reviewing in about 2 days, same knife without the coating in 1095.

  • hi dave with ur glasses on u look like Santa just though i was funny and its grate ur uploading loads more and its grate

  • COME ON GUYS HES NOT POOPING IN THE BUCKET!!!!

  • Nothin' like roughing it in a yurt with your laptop!

  • Not only are you seeking after wilderness experience and knowledge in your dirt time, but I love that you are seeking after Jesus, while inspiring people to do it too. Your witness to people has touched a lot of lives, and who knows how many people have been saved, just by your brief, but impacting comments about God. Stay blessed, safe, and warm! By the way, this was another great video, and I hope that you keep producing them.

  • Really enjoying the Yurk series Dave.. thanks for all your hard work.

  • do a review of the gerber lmf2 and bear grylls ultimate survival knife

  • @13rbridge check out equip to endure for a review on those knives = )

  • @13rbridge Dave doesnt review stuff he doesnt use. And he wouldnt like Gryll's knife, its not a high carbon steel. check out Daves vids from last week about his knives. I think its yert vid 2

  • @13rbridge GARBAGE!!!

  • I like this series of videos.

  • Hey Dave. subscribing from New Zealand and enjoying the vids very much. Saw your high country traverse on Discovery with Cody and have a lot of respect for you guys coming down our way to make the show. Living in Christchurch we have been hit hard in the last 12 months with earthquakes and have suffered with loss of power, water, house damage etc. This experience has re-engaged me with the self-reliance mindset and I am really enjoying your practical how-to guides. Keep up the great work.

  • Glad to see u cooking again. I have missed the videos from a long time ago where u cooked some food every now and then. Keep up the good work

  • Dave this is a great series, "The 21st Century Long Hurter" really enjoying it! Merry Christmas to you and Iris and your whole family.

  • One can build a small portable photovoltaic system relatively cheap these days. Prices have dropped hard. Sun Electronics have package deals. Their 200 watt system, without batteries, is only $519. Laptops typically use about 45watts per hour. A 200 watt system would need about 4.4 hour peak sun hours to charge up a laptop. Because there are fewer 'peak sun hours' during the winter, go with a 400 watt system, $860, and ( 2) T-105 Trojan 6vdc batteries, $140 ea. = $1,140. Solar pumps water 2

  • What are the spices you put in your spice kit from the first yurt journal?

  • @TXrockfish Yea, answer this question Dave, you only mentioned Pepper, sage, and salt, but there were more containers.

  • I look forward to your yurt and long hunter videos every night this has to be the most interesting bushcraft videos I've ever watched. I'm very interested in the cooking,We take so much for granted these days. You should try mixing a little honey in with your dough. Make two thin layers then add some honey on one and put the second on top then roll the two together gently and bake. Honey never goes bad. Best wishes and thanks for your hard work and sharing your wisdom.

  • 25 degrees, plenty of water to boil, I would consider pooping in the bucket than expose my butt in the middle of the night.

  • Dave, the video ends at 7:05 but keeps rolling until 17:53. That's prolly killing your upload time. The last one did it too.

  • awesome beard!!

  • wow you get better internet service than i do in my house

  • Thanks for the entraining and educational videos you post Dave! Looking forward to watching your next video, keep up the good work!

  • Hey Dave, why not bring in one of your dogs at night for extra warmth? Btw, in your black sciveys, you look like a survival superhero. You should get a camouflage cape. Just saying! Love the videos.

  • When you put the hat and glasses on you really look like Santa. Cool vid.
