Republicans always say that the government can not do anything worthwhile . So , where is the Private sector to help with this problem . Uh , that's right , they are in China building it up !
This is an eye-opening news story, which I knew nothing about. Imagine if others knew about it too. Imagine if policymakers, public works managers, engineering/consulting firms knew specifically about their own bridge, rail, and water systems. I see investment and support for our infrastructure from non-profits to investment firms. Well, now there is a way to let others know about this and others: InfraInput (a one-stop website to report issues and ideas on public infrastructure).
@m2diggs WE PUT YOU IN CHARGE OF GETTING RID OF BOTH PARTIES. SINCE YOU SAY THEY NEED TO GO WE ARE BEHIND YOU WATCHING YOU. GOOD LUCK. US MARSHULL J.B. PUCK
Well, being that they wont repave a road until its turned to dirt, and when they do, they pave onside for a year, the the other side of a year, and by the time they finished both sides, one side has to be redone. We need to call japan and ask Dubai who the hell they use to pave roads, god damn. Its 2011, We need to find a way to make road paving a month project and be done. If you want super highways, you need super maintenance teams and America right now doesnt have super shit anywhere.
how do you all expect these sudo politicians to do whats best 4 the tax paying citizens of the US-the under 900,000 income families that pay 38% in tax's while the over 900,000 pay 16% and still be able to fill their pockets with mad lootz and have gay sex with underage boys?..4 christ sake leave them alone and die a horrible death like the rest of us.
People need to put this conservative, Republican, and Democratic shit away. We need to come together united. Not Divided. This is bullshit our country is failing because of these sides. Our president has to kiss the Republican and Democrat's ass just to put their difference's side. Ridiculous.
Our Government is no better than a third world country. Pathetic I sure as hell hope the bill is passed to raise tax on the rich its about time they pay up.
Tax cuts for the rich? what are you stupid thats the last thing those snub rich pricks need is a tax cut. How about a tax cut for the hard working blue collar Americans when can we catch a break.
if the terrorists get us, then all of our infrastructure grades will be "F". can you risk it? we have to spend money on weapons to fight the terrorists!!
so a bridge that was vital to the residents there isn't economically viable? So it is safe to say the US is starting to become a third world country if it isn't willing to invest in its people.
Since I have been in construction for over twenty five years I have kept a watchful eye on the infrastructure here in my major east coast city. To use the vernacular... FUGETABOUTIT. "they" are just putting band-aids to severed limbs. The primary reason is that "they" know something we don't. Some sort of an event is going to occur soon that will make repairing of the infrastructure moot. Solar flares, planet x, nuclear holocaust, God, jesus, the devil, aliens, something evil this way comes.
A friend of mine who served in Afghanistan said if Americans knew what was going on there they would be furious. He told me we are building schools, houses, paving roads, drilling community water wells and installing municipal water systems and sewage treatment plants. They are also building an afghan army, giving them uniforms, weapons, ammunition, computer systems, radar, helicopters, building military basis etc. We are falling to pieces while YOUR dollars are building nations abroad. Wonderful!
I lived in Minneapolis when that happened, lived about 15 minutes from the spot that fell into the river. Ive looked at freeway overpasses lots and they are all falling apart. The concrete under them all is just crumbling.
The Ardmore Street Bridge in Villa Park, IL has been closed for years. Goes over the Union Pacific & CNW tracks. This town is just west of Chicago, IL. Sad.
if you try to fix something and you use a private contractor using illegal aliens, it should take you, lets say, 1 million per job. If you use a private contractor hiring american workers, that will go to 10 million, and if you use unionized workers, that can go easily to 30 o 40 million, that is the problem.....
@MstrMnd420 I REALLY hope that you're wrong, but somehow you're probably MORE correct than we'd all like to admit about our "leaders". Some people just don't care about their post, & looking out for the general public.
@loveunderlaw One thing people could ask themselves is, if they had millions of dollars, power and had everything they could possibly want and some, would you give that up for others? It's pretty surprising what people would say and then do, given they were actually IN that situation. There is only one solution to the problem we are facing, which is the opposite of Greed.
@loveunderlaw I wish I could disagree with you, but ive seen this coming before I was even mature. You can at least rest assured, they will get more than they bargained for. = )
Folks in the third world row to work every day .... ohhh right America IS a third world country ... never thought i would say that in my lifetime !!!!
so americans waste trillions in 2 wars billions more in helping another country's in time of crises but cant expense 70 millions to make a bridge in their homeland ? irony
@shaggylakky I never understand self-proclaimed 'fiscal conservatives' who complain about domestic spending that helps Americans and yet are always willing to spend endlessly on wars that kill Americans. Why should they care? After all, politicians who preach 'fiscal conservatism' are among the rich and so they get tax cuts. It's the working class and middle class that pays for the wars with their taxes and lives.
The only way that our infrastructure improves and gets an A is to elect Sarah Palin so that she can implement Palinomics! Palinomics will boost our economy, making it robust and Palin's SUPERIOR policies over Obozo WILL completely fix and heal this country!
@MrSteve05 Are you mad? During the Great Depression era, over 78% of American GDP is agricultural or manufacturing; now, over 80% of them are service and consumer spending. Trillions spend on infrastructure won't create as much jobs as encourage people to buy new houses again.
and we are giving assistance and aid to pakistan and terrorist contries fo can we fucking keep it here in the usa to improve these fuckin bridges and roads, or just as an extra money for needy. we need to stop useless immigrants from stupid central and south american countries, they come here (90%) to collect food stamp what a fuck...we need to have a selective immigration system to bring brains and skilled individuals ooooonlyyyyyyyy fuck freedom and fuck stupid laws that destroys usa slowly
In terms of infrastructure, American and Canada are falling behind Asian countries. Seriously, you can go visit other countries and you will realize how true this is. It is a real SHAME.
you can. Job hunt. I was job hunting in japan for a bit. Actually if you are interested in Japan. It is great. They are looking for foreigners a lot of japanese companies that is. They're quite ambitious this season. Anyway I got a job in Istanbul and I am leaving actually in a week. So I got my ticket out of here. Will be working for a bank. You can get your TEFL certificate and just teach english overseas and make a living that way if you want.
@lordblazer I've been job hunting and had no luck whatsoever. Do you have a place to recommend? All the companies looking for english teachers that Ive found want you to be in Japan already.
have you already tried the JET program? Though you have to have never been to Japan before as a student or on a work visa.. You can also go to China, Thailand, Turkey, Czech Republic, etc etc.. I am actually interning at a bank in Istanbul at the moment. What is your degree, and interest? This kinda matters because you may be flexible in more than 1 field, and though english teaching is quite easy job, maybe other careers are more awarding overseas.
@lordblazer I think I'm too old for JET or something else disqualifies me. I'll give it another look. I'm mainly into graphic design/web design/3d, or anything to do heavily with computers.
If that is the case then forget about Japan.. There is more opportunity for foreigners in the field of your interest in Singapore. Do some research on it, and I know someone in Singapore who is an independent graphic designer. Which shocked me cuz most of my friends in Singapore are well erm Bankers. But let me know just message me, and I can give you my friend's e-mail.
Everyone's too stupid and thinks we can't afford to invest in infrastructure, but look at that lady, she's probably going to loose her business now because no one can get to her. They shot down a new bridge in Norfolk here that we desperately need because no one wanted their taxes raised.
