I got to see these guys only one time back in 99, and the show was at Bogarts, in Cincinnati. I couldn't find the venue, and missed the entire show except for the last 4 songs. Sad story. I hope to see them again soon. I have purchased just about every album of theirs. They're an attribute to youthful, drug influenced music ! A little old school, mixed with a little modern psychedelic jazz. I love these guys !

I will always be puzzled by the way in which hippie-type folks - collectively - can passionately adore a small, select number of jazz musicians while remaining utterly unmoved by most of the rest of them. I bet you that if you replaced John Medeski with Chick Corea on that stage those people in that crowd would have started falling asleep face first in that mud one after another. Don't ask me why!

note to prs7456: Good music does not have to include complex melodic and harmonic structure. Group dynamic and rythymic emphasis has an excellent place in musical innovation. MMW happens to be a premiere example. I'm sorry you cannot appreciate music that is so undeniably funky and soulful, and instead have to complain because there are not enough chord changes. If you listened a little more closely, maybe you'd see this has just as much intricacy as any other type of music you might prefer.
