@TS175 It's called a KEECH racing Axe. It's made specifically for wood cutting competitions. Like a lumberjack sport. The same way special bows are made for olympic archery,and special guns for speed shooting. A racing Axe is far more expensive than a normal one,and it's blade is planed to bite as deep as possible into the wood and it's shaving sharp. They are hand made axes. Pretty much the best wood cutting axe you can buy.
What is the point of chopping from the top of the log like that? I have been cutting timbers with axes for various projects for a few years now, and I have never seen where this technique would be practical.
That is a serious axe. I have to ask though, what kind of wood is that? It looks a little soft, maybe the axe is just that good though, and of course we can't put it all on the axe, you are a good lumberjack as well.
I've answered a fire call where someone mis-judged it, and split his foot lengthwise, in a logging boot.
